I Am Your Natural Enemy

Lord Zhu ate a piece, and even seemed to be on the verge of sweating.

”It’s really strong, you’re being too generous.”

”There are some matters I’d like to ask Lord Zhu about.”

”Go ahead and ask.”

”Regarding the Ghost Market and the Ghost Wealth God.”

”Huh, weren’t those guys already caught?”

”No, this thing originally belonged to the Divine Land. They turned it into what it is now. The information I got was that nearly a hundred years ago, before the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, some people in the human ghost market worshiped the Ghost Wealth God.”

”Huh, there’s such a thing? I didn’t know that. Hold on, I’ll ask a friend.”

Lord Zhu picked up the phone and dialed a number.

”Get your Ancestor on the line, what are you sleeping for, didn’t get enough sleep while you were alive?

You’ve been dead for how many years, still sleeping now? There’s serious business to do, hurry up, don’t dawdle, or next time I’ll see you, you’d better watch out for a beating from me.”

A moment later, Lord Zhu continued.

”Old Ghost, cut to the chase, I have something important to ask you, if you know, just say it.

Do you know about the Ghost Wealth God?

Don’t tell me you don’t know, you damn old ghost were dealing with the black market while you were alive, don’t think I don’t know.

Hey, don’t worry about how I know, I also know you smuggled horses back in the day, got so rich that oil bubbles appeared on the surface of the piss water.”

After a few words from Lord Zhu, he listened to the other side speaking, and hung up the phone after a moment.

”I asked an old ghost, this guy might have had dealings with these matters while alive.

He said that currently, no Ghosts are worshipping the Ghost Wealth God, it’s people who are worshipping it.

Especially those in dubious dealings, some might still worship.

But as for more specifics, he wasn’t sure and said he’d ask old friends first.

Once there’s any news from over there, I’ll let you know immediately.”

”Alright, thank you, Lord Zhu.”

”No need to be polite, since you’re here, don’t leave yet. Recently beef is cheap, I’ve braised a lot of beef, you should try it. There’s some well-shaped, refrigerated cuts, I’ll pick some beef shanks for you. You can slice it when you get back and eat it; guaranteed delicious.”

”As long as there’s no alcohol involved, all is well.”

”Hahaha...” Lord Zhu laughed heartily. Last time, he got so drunk that he fell into the Netherworld, so he isn’t forcing it anymore. This reason is more legitimate than being allergic to alcohol or needing to drive.

Wen Yan was pulled by Lord Zhu, to eat meat and drink together. Others drank alcohol, Wen Yan drank soft drinks, and no one dared to persuade him.

After they had eaten a substantial meal, when almost finished, Lord Zhu’s phone rang, and after a few minutes of conversation, he took Wen Yan to the study room.

”This time the news came quickly. My old friend told me he’s indeed heard of it.

It’s said there was indeed a temple back in the day, built secretly by those shady guys.

It was the God of Wealth worshipped by day, and the Ghost Wealth God by night.

But that temple disappeared with the appearance of the Netherworld, probably sunk into the Netherworld just like my original estate.

He wasn’t sure about the exact location, just said such a thing might have happened.

I also don’t know who would be so powerful to build a temple right under the Scorching Sun Department’s nose without them knowing.

This is bizarre, my old friend only heard about it, never seen it.

I’ll ask around for you later.”

”Alright.”

At the same time, in the western Divine Land, a Ghost wearing a long robe, about fifty or sixty, with a wrinkled face, walked along the roadside.

The pedestrians and vehicles on the road ignored him completely.

Until a road administration car appeared, the barefoot Ghost carrying shoes slowly turned his head to look at the road administration car.

The people in the car also noticed a strange old man on the roadside, walking barefoot with shoes in hand.

”Old man, what’s wrong with you? Why aren’t you wearing shoes to walk? There might be glass shards or stones by the roadside, be careful.”

The Ghost slowly turned his head, with cloudy eyes, looking at the driver of the road administration car.

The next moment, the driver took out a water gun and sprayed the water at the Ghost, but the water neither penetrated the Ghost’s body nor caused any harm, as it ran off like drops on an umbrella.

The driver’s expression changed slightly, he immediately took out a talisman and threw it, still no response.

In the passenger seat, a Small Compass capable of sensing Yin Qi suddenly began to spin.

The Ghost, who originally looked extremely old, now had the shoes in his hand on his feet as he looked at the driver.

”Are you the one in charge?”

”What?” The driver had just uttered two words when the Ghost reached out a hand, passing through the door, through the driver’s clothes, into his chest, pulling out the driver’s soul.

The Old Ghost took a glance, released his hand, and turned to leave.

The driver seated in the car, eyes wide open, his skin surface began to show signs of postmortem rigidity, sitting there motionless.

A moment later, two cars arrived.

A few people got out of the cars, one of them dismantled the dashcam, finding it wasn’t even turned on.

Another examined the body, and his expression changed instantly.

The corpse’s chest had a hand print brimming with Yin Qi, yet the jacket worn by the driver and the old bills in the lining remained intact, without any wear, which had never happened before.
