I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan might not be the strongest person within a radius of eight hundred kilometers, but he is definitely the most specialized.

He doesn’t have a soul at all.

Of course, according to the records of the Scorching Sun Department, he is a person born with soul and flesh united, whose soul can never leave the body. Such people have a specific term; they’re called soulless humans.

Soulless humans are perfectly resistant to this type of situation.

Indeed, there’s no one more fitting than him, even if he’s in the neighboring commandery, they still choose to push him forward.

At this moment, Wen Yan understands the complete context and aftermath, because it should have happened when he was in Nanyang, more precisely on the day he clashed with the pawnbroker, who tried to seek outside help.

But all of his outside help was intercepted.

Among them, there was power that came from the Divine Land. Someone made a move, no matter how hidden, with the Old Celestial Master always ready to respond and the Grand Uncle Master of Fuyu Mountain holding a night-long ceremony, there was no way to hide.

Caught red-handed, the Scorching Sun Department kindly helped the people of the Western Military Region clean up some inventory.

The Western and Northern areas, in these days, have eradicated three temple gods, none of this was reported to Wen Yan.

Having understood the context and consequence, Wen Yan puts away his phone and stands up.

”Lord Zhu, I have something to do, I’ll leave first. I’ll pick up the things when I return.”

”Alright, I’ll have Feng Wei take you.”

Stepping into the Nether Path, Wen Yan goes home first to pick up equipment he might need.

Then he travels via the Nether Path to a place not far from the destination.

He emerges from a desolate tomb, and in less than five minutes, a car from the Scorching Sun Department arrives to pick him up.

”What’s the situation now?” Wen Yan immediately asks as he gets into the car, the real-time situation could be different from what he can observe.

The frontline is constantly changing, it’s impossible for someone to sort through intelligence and upload it instantly.

Without organized intelligence, there could be hours of video footage, who has time to watch that?

”The target route is very clear, it’s all along the national road, not on the highway, this might have been a previous habit to save money.”

At his current speed, in no more than an hour, he will pass through a populated area with fifty thousand people.

The higher-ups suggest intercepting him before that.

If not, we’ll have to relocate the civilians along the way.

Fifteen minutes ago, he killed yet another person who could see him.

This person was an ordinary man, his only unique factor being he was released from prison just last year.”

”Does that mean that everyone killed actually has some kind of problem?”

”Perhaps I didn’t express clearly. This time the person killed did not develop corpse spots, indicating he couldn’t withstand the shock of having his soul forcibly torn from his body, leading to instant death.

This person’s home is beside the road, we had notified them to evacuate earlier, but he was in his privately-dug basement and didn’t hear it. We also didn’t know he hadn’t left, and the equipment didn’t show any living presence.

When that ghost arrived, he happened to come out, we were too late to stop it.”

”Only two people displayed corpse spots after death, and one ghost, correct?”

”Yes.”

”Did you find out the ghost’s identity?”

”No, this ghost is not registered, nor are there any records, but it should be a fierce ghost with a death on its hands.”

Wen Yan looked at the notebook handed to him, it recorded many firsthand details.

As he read, he listened, and when they were nearing the destination, the vehicle stopped, and he got off the car.

”Don’t approach later, as long as there’s no obstruction, he won’t make a move, so don’t come close. Evacuate people from the roadside in advance, if anything happens, do not act rashly.”

Wen Yan strides forward, following the road, not far along he sees at a distance by the roadside, an old ghost. He wears clothing quite characteristic of the region, barefoot, holding a pair of shoes in his hand, walking steadily, step by step.

At the moment of seeing him, the prompt appears.

”Shigu.”

”To repay the favor of saving his life, he willingly transformed into a temple keeper without any income and only obligations.

He had prepared to face death while alive, and the god he served used the shattering of its golden body as the cost to send him away.

But he died in an unobtrusive little stream, unable to complete his final task.

He abandoned himself, his will, his soul, and everything, walking barefoot with the appearance of a drowned ghost, constantly bearing torment and suffering.

He must complete his last task.”

”No need to look further, before completing the task, he is nearly immortal.

What he needs to do will bring associated immunity.

The fastest way to transcend him is to complete the task, using the task as the knife.”

”Temporary ability: None.”

Wen Yan looked at the prompt, rapidly capturing keywords.

Similar to an alternative Big Executor.

In some aspects, the stronger, in some aspects, necessarily weaker.

And in the prompt, some things aren’t mentioned, like why did this guy die in a small stream, in such an eerie way.

This was specifically highlighted, yet left unsaid, according to his experience, this is about all the information available, but there is a problem here.

Further related information lacks authorization, and restrictions aren’t lifted.

And the prompt mentioned the ”task” several times, but not specifically, remaining restricted information with a rather high limitation.

But lacking temporary ability indicates the existing abilities are sufficient to cope.
