I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 1240: Chapter 425: Three Crows at Dawn, Escaping Justice (8k)_5

All these years, I still remember the look in the eyes of that kid who wanted to learn lantern making from me, right before he died.

Brother Dao, I’m only worried about you now. Don’t die before I do.”

Fan Zeyun’s eyes were bloodshot, more earnest than ever before.

Brother Dao fell silent, and slowly his always-raised head drooped, as if even his comb couldn’t stay upright.

“Brother Dao, there are quite a few people in our village who want to stew you! I’m getting old, don’t have many days left, I don’t want to be unable to stand straight after I die.”

“Alright, alright, it’s really hard to eat your rice…” Brother Dao muttered weakly, without the strength to argue.

Fan Zeyun breathed a sigh of relief and quickly packed his things.

He opened a wooden box and at the bottom, found an old notebook, took it along, and then took out a package before heading out.

He handed the package to Wen Yan.

“This is my insight, all inside, along with some tools, all inside, I probably won’t be using them anymore, it’s yours.

Also, this package contains Brother Dao’s stuff, take it along too.”

“Alright.”

Wen Yan took the package, knowing in his heart what Fan Zeyun intended to do.

He took out his phone and called a car.

“Let’s go together.”

“Don’t come with me.” Fan Zeyun shook his head.

“Today I came, no matter what I think, whether I go with you or not, this matter will have to do with me.”

Wen Yan called a car, and headed to the county town, arriving at Guanzhong County’s Scorching Sun Department.

Upon entering, someone greeted Wen Yan, and he waved back, being familiar with many faces from frequent visits to Guanzhong County.

Entering the administrative hall, Fan Zeyun looked at the busy people around, and suddenly shouted.

“I want to confess!”

After shouting, he continued speaking on his own.

“The incident at Luocheng Ghost Market back then, was done by me.

The Fierce Ghost’s revenge at Jixiang Village, that was me too.”

Wen Yan carried a bag, and Brother Dao, seeing Fan Zeyun shouting, closed his eyes inside the bag, no longer wanting to intervene.

This was the first time he saw Fan Zeyun speak so loudly, no longer with the usual gloom, nor with the self-mockery of the two drinks he had at night.

He could feel that at this moment, Fan Zeyun was finally venting the breath held in his chest for decades before it suffocated him.

People live for one breath, a saying he heard Fan Zeyun say many times.

Today he finally understood, it’s not about comfort, but about letting go.

Brother Dao closed his eyes, lying weakly in the bag, accepted his fate, did what he could not to cause trouble, not to worry anyone.

Immediately, a few people approached, ready to ask questions.

But an older field agent’s face changed slightly, and he quickly held back the young ones, stepping forward himself.

Not many might know about the night market incident, but those who’ve worked long in Guanzhong County’s Scorching Sun Department know the case behind it.

The person killed was a murderer, who buried his victims in his own backyard. Who would’ve thought that decades later, times had changed, and the victim’s grudge wasn’t forgotten, being trampled upon every day by their enemy, that resentment wouldn’t fade easily.

Finally bursting forth, directly tearing to shreds the murderer’s soul, devouring it.

Hating enough to eat his flesh, drink his blood.

But that deranged ghost, later refused to surrender, and was killed on scene by arriving combat personnel.

After the truth was uncovered, there was a long uproar, and even now there’s talk about the murderer’s retribution.

Seeing Fan Zeyun about to continue, he was immediately taken downstairs by someone.

Wen Yan stood not far away, watching the scene.

People from Guanzhong County’s Scorching Sun Department also approached Wen Yan, since he had arrived with Fan Zeyun.

“Did you capture him?”

“I didn’t capture him.”

Within less than two minutes, Wen Yan’s phone rang, it was the Guanzhong County Chief.

“Oh my ancestor, what are you up to this time?”

“Uh, you’ve misunderstood, this really has nothing to do with me, I actually have business, wanted to talk to some skilled craftsmen.

I didn’t capture him, and I’m not very clear about the details of the case he’s talking about.

But, if someone wants to confess, as an external expert for Scorching Sun Department, should I persuade them not to come?”

“…”

The Guanzhong County Chief clutched his chest, nearly losing his breath.

How could he respond to those words?

He’s a department chief, he definitely can’t say no.

How? You, a chief, actually persuading a suspect to just roam free?

He wouldn’t dare say that!

He’s heard that Wen Yan has this particularly annoying habit.

This guy, when making calls, loves recording them!

The Ghostly Bell Ringtone of Cai Heizi from Nanwu County, had spread beyond Nanwu County before.

After Cai Heizi passed away, that trend finally faded, everyone had to respect those who sacrifice for the public.

The Guanzhong County Chief rubbed his head, starting to miss Cai Heizi…
