Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Gu Jizhou listened and lightly curved the corners of his mouth, ”Uncle is being too modest, there’s so much I need to learn from you.”

Huo Jinnan didn’t say anything more, sat for a while, stood up and looked towards the elder, ”Xiaowei had a high fever last time, and he hasn’t recovered yet, so I’m heading back first.”

The old man ”hmm”ed in response, ”Go ahead. I’m taking a leave at home these days, and after the eleventh, I plan to step down to the second line. Anan, I see you don’t have time to take care of Xiaowei, so when the time comes, send him over here and let me help you take care of him.”

Huo Jinnan casually picked up the suit hanging on the side, ”Grandfather is of retirement age, and Huo Minhan is too mischievous.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned and left.

The old man looked at his retreating figure and sighed. After he was gone, he turned to Gu Jizhou who was sitting there, ”In the future, interact more with your uncle, and don’t let the relationship grow cold.”

Gu Jizhou said an obedient ”Yes” and helped the old man massage his shoulders.

The old man closed his eyes, ”Jizhou, you can’t rely on your great-grandfather for a lifetime, put more heart into your career.”

Gu Jizhou understood the deeper meaning behind the old man’s words, ”Yes, Great-grandfather.”

Huo Jinnan returned to South Garden and upon entering, he didn’t see Huo Minhan; he glanced at Nanny Rong.

Nanny Rong hurriedly approached, ”Sir, the young master has gone to take care of Miss Che Huan.”

Huo Jinnan’s gaze grew intense as he looked at Nanny Rong.

Nanny Rong didn’t dare to meet Huo Jinnan’s eyes and lowered her head to say, ”The young master said Miss Che Huan has been sick for several days and has not gotten better. He took some things and went to the hospital, saying he won’t be back for a few days, to take care of Miss Che Huan in the hospital.”

Huo Jinnan ”hmm”ed in response, ”You go to the hospital and take care of the young master.”

”Yes, sir.” Nanny Rong quickly began to pack things, wondering if the sir was sending her to take care of Miss Che Huan.

Thinking of the dresses and high heels in the sir’s wardrobe, for some reason, she always felt they were related to Miss Che Huan.

And thinking back on what she had said earlier, she really was being presumptuous!

...

Half an hour later, Huo Bei had taken Nanny Rong to the hospital.

The little guy frowned when he saw Nanny Rong, ”Why did you come?”

”I’ve come to take care of the young master.” Nanny Rong looked at Che Huan lying on the bed off to the side and smiled at her.

Che Huan lay there, recalling the words Nanny Rong had said before and what happened that night, and felt a wave of discomfort, her complexion worsening.

The little guy glanced at Nanny Rong, clearly not very welcoming, but thinking that Nanny Rong took better care of people than he did, he pursed his lips and said nothing more. Turning his head back, he looked at Che Huan with concern.

Nanny Rong glanced at the wall clock, ”Young master, I’ve brought dinner over.”

The little guy perked up at the news; he had been worried about dinner, fearing that the food outside would not be good.

He looked at Nanny Rong again and asked in a twisted tone, ”What about him?”

”The sir has gone out of town.” Nanny Rong replied to the little guy as instructed by the sir and subconsciously glanced at Che Huan, smiling faintly and taking out the dinner from the thermal bag, opening each item.

Realizing he wasn’t very good at taking care of Huanhuan, having one more person to help seemed pretty good, and the little guy’s face brightened considerably. He turned his head towards Che Huan, his little hands clutching hers tightly, ”Huanhuan, all the medicine has been administered, why aren’t you getting any better?”

”It’s okay, I’ll be better soon.” Che Huan lacked strength and lay uncomfortably on the bed.

That night, because Gu Jizhou appeared unexpectedly and dragged the innocent Uncle Lu into the matter, she lay awake in bed, tossing and turning with another night of nightmares – if not of that night five years ago, then of the smell of the hospital’s disinfectant...
