Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Che Huan broke into a cold sweat from fright and it took her a long time to come to her senses. She crawled up from the floor, rubbing the sore spot on the back of her head, and looked at the team leader.

The team leader stared intently at Che Huan, his eyes scoping up and down her body as if checking whether she was injured.

Che Huan was no longer so afraid of the team leader and looked outside the door. Aside from the team leader, there was no one else. She whispered, ”How did you get here?”

The team leader stood up, fumbled with its paws to close the door, looked down at the hard floor, tapped it with a paw—there was a sound, very loud, as there was nothing soft. It raised its head and looked at Che Huan with longing eyes, then nuzzled against her leg.

Che Huan looked down at it and picked up her phone to call Huo Bei.

After a while, the call connected.

Che Huan glanced at the team leader, which had hopped onto the bed of its own accord and cuddled up beside her, and asked, ”Are you free right now?”

Huo Bei had just left the residential area where Che Huan lived, ”Ms. Che, is there something you need?”

Che Huan was about to speak when she suddenly felt a wet sensation on the back of her hand. Looking down, she saw the team leader licking her hand. Startled, her hand shook and the phone flew out, crashing onto the floor with a ”clatter!”

The team leader quickly retracted its tongue and shrank its head, nearly disappearing its neck, leaned against the head of the bed, and sat upright with both paws on the bed.

Che Huan, amused by its demeanor, couldn’t be angry. She sighed, crawled to the head of the bed to pick up the phone; the screen was shattered, but luckily, she could still hear voices.

Hearing Huo Bei calling out ”Ms. Che” without stopping, she quickly responded, ”My phone accidentally fell to the floor. It’s like this, the team leader has come to my place. If you have time, please come and take it back.”

— ”Mr. Huo and I have gone abroad. Since the team leader has made its own way to Ms. Che’s place, I’ll trouble Ms. Che to look after it for a few days.”

Remembering that the team leader had saved her once, Che Huan didn’t refuse.

Huo Bei hung up the phone, glanced in the direction of the residential area, got into the car, and turned to look at Huo Jinnan in the back seat, ”The team leader has been delivered.”

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, ”What happened?”

”Ms. Che seems to have broken her phone,” Huo Bei replied as he gently released the handbrake and turned the car around, driving towards the airport.

Huo Jinnan said nothing, his brow lightly furrowed as he guessed the team leader’s deeds. He took a drag from his cigarette, his long fingers resting on the car window.

...

Three days later, Che Huan went to the company to complete her resignation procedures, followed by a leisurely large dog.

Wherever she went, the team leader followed, acting like a loyal and majestic bodyguard, never leaving her side.

Che Huan had no way of handling the team leader. No matter what she said, it continued to do as it pleased, arrogantly trailing behind her.

After finishing with the resignation, she went to the restroom and the team leader followed as well.

Seeing Che Huan enter a stall, it squatted by the door, fiercely glaring at the women coming in and out of the restroom and let out two ”roar” noises.

The women intending to use the restroom turned pale upon entering and quickly left.

Those who had just used the restroom didn’t even bother to wash their hands before fleeing in a panic.

Gu Yunqing happened to pass by the corridor and heard the quiet gossip:

”What’s with Che Huan from the second department bringing a dog to the company?”

”You didn’t see it, that dog looks so fierce; its glare is like it’s about to eat someone.”

”The worst part is it squatting in the restroom. It roared at me the moment I entered, scaring me so much that I rushed out. I didn’t dare to go back in, and I was nearly bursting!”

Is that the team leader?

Gu Yunqing gave a light cough and the people gathered talking saw her and quickly dispersed.
