Daddy Always Gets Jealous

The manager looked at Che Huan apologetically, ”I’m sorry, Mr. Huo didn’t come to Yunshang today.”

Hearing this, Che Huan’s heart sank, ”Then do you have his contact information?”

The manager shook his head apologetically, ”Mr. Huo never leaves his private contact information. There probably aren’t many people in Hong Kong who have it.”

Che Huan looked down at the bag in her hands, ”I came to return Mr. Huo’s suit. Do you know when he might come back to Yunshang?”

The manager recalled that day’s situation, which seemed somewhat inconceivable, and seeing how Mr. Huo treated her differently, he still spoke politely, ”Mr. Huo’s whereabouts are always secretive, and I’m not clear on when he will come. However, I can leave you a phone number, and I’ll call you when Mr. Huo arrives.”

Che Huan returned to where she was staying, and lay down on the bed, exhausted, staring blankly at the ceiling. What should she do? Just wait like this?

If it hadn’t been for her, her uncle wouldn’t have been implicated!

She had thought there was hope for her uncle, but never expected that Mr. Huo would be Gu Jizhou’s uncle. Fate really was toying with them!

...

Starting the next day, she checked her phone every ten minutes, but she never received any unknown calls.

In a blink of an eye, it was Friday, and more than half the week had passed.

After work, she packed her bag and had just left the company when she received a call from Wen Nuan.

Wen Nuan’s voice was filled with excitement, ”Sister Huanhuan, my dad’s back.”

After a week of nervousness, hearing this news felt like an illusion; tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

It took a while for Che Huan to calm down, ”Really?”

”Of course it’s true, he just got back, and I called you right away. Sister Huanhuan, come over to our house this weekend if you’re free.”

”Okay, I’ve finished work, I’ll come over in a bit.”

”Then we’ll wait for you for dinner.”

Che Huan uttered ”hmm” and hung up the phone, took a deep breath, glanced around, and suddenly felt that the sunshine was bright and cheery.

Half an hour later, she arrived at her uncle’s house and saw Wen Hua, whom she hadn’t seen for many days. There was so much she wanted to say, but she didn’t know how to start. Her heart felt heavy, and all she could do was call out, ”Uncle!”

Wen Hua glanced at Che Huan, and with a grave face, took her aside into his study, ”Huanhuan, you shouldn’t have gone looking for him.”

Just like in the past, Che Huan placed her hands on her lap and smiled, ”Uncle, I didn’t look for him.”

Wen Hua seemed skeptical, his gaze resting on Che Huan. He thought of the hardships this child had suffered since childhood, and there was also... a trace of guilt in his heart, so he deliberately avoided some topics, ”Huanhuan, your uncle doesn’t want you to sacrifice your own happiness...”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but gently patted Che Huan’s shoulder.

A wave of emotion surged through Che Huan; her uncle was still the same, warm as she remembered from her childhood.

It took a long time for her to regain her composure, and then she looked up and smiled brightly at Wen Hua, ”Uncle, I really didn’t look for him.”

”...” Wen Hua was silent for a moment, then looked at Che Huan. Huanhuan was a child who didn’t know how to lie, ”If you say you didn’t, your uncle believes you. Let’s go to your classmate’s house some other day, and your uncle will personally go to express his gratitude.”

Hearing this, Che Huan bit her lip and lowered her head, ”Uncle, I didn’t tell the truth because I was afraid Auntie would worry. In truth, I don’t even know who that person is. His car ran into me, and maybe because he’s someone with status, he was afraid I would make trouble, and didn’t want to add complications. He simply said there’s nothing in Hong Kong that he couldn’t handle and that he could help me with one thing, so I mentioned Uncle, never expecting it would actually be taken care of.”

Wen Hua looked down at Che Huan, whose skirt was covering her knees and couldn’t see them.

Che Huan rubbed her knees.
