Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Gu Jizhou grunted, not avoiding the blow that landed squarely on his forehead, which immediately started to show red.

Huo Jinyun watched from the side, feeling heartbroken but not daring to speak out. Grandfather was truly angry this time, and it was Jizhou’s fault! It seemed to be a safety accident caused by cutting corners, and if this leaked, not only would Guyuan Group’s reputation be damaged, but the Huo Family’s reputation would suffer as well, and the old man had always been proud, now losing face!

Seeing the blood on Gu Jizhou’s forehead, the old man’s anger subsided somewhat. He glanced at Huo Jinnan beside him, ”Anan, come with me to the study.”

Huo Jinnan, who had been silent up until now, stood up and followed the old man to the study.

The old man slowly sat down on the maroon solid wood sofa, looking at Huo Jinnan. His sharp eyes settled on his face, carefully observing Huo Jinnan’s expression, ”Anan, what do you think is the best way to handle this matter?”

Huo Jinnan leisurely lit a cigarette, took a puff, then lifted his gaze to look at the old man, ”Some things, he should handle on his own. Grandfather can’t protect him for his whole life, can he?”

The old man stared at Huo Jinnan, not speaking for a long while, just nodding his head. After a moment of silence, he changed the subject, ”Your dad mentioned your marriage to me a few days ago. What do you think? After all, Yunqing is Xiaowei’s biological mother, and she has feelings for you. She has waited for you for so many years, and since there’s no other woman by your side, why not go ahead and get married sooner?”

Huo Jinnan did not speak for a long time.

The old man sat waiting for him to speak.

A few minutes later, the old man sighed, ”You’re not young anymore, and it will be thirty in a few more years. It’s about the right age to get married. Just a few days ago, when Xiaowei fell ill, you were away, and your dad and your mom were not in Hongcheng, neither was I, and there was no one to take care of him. He needs a mother.”

”Hmm, I’ll bring a girl back for Grandfather to see before Mid-Autumn Festival,” Huo Jinnan said as he flicked the cigarette ash, not mentioning Gu Yunqing.

The old man was momentarily speechless and remained silent for a while, unable to speak.

After a while, he stood up and left the study, only to see Gu Jizhou standing at the door, stunned for a moment, ”What are you doing here?”

Great-grandfather, I just heard my uncle might have already found a woman he likes.” Gu Jizhou looked towards Huo Jinnan’s direction, his eyes darkening.

The old man grunted, ”Your uncle said he would bring a girl back for me to see at Mid-Autumn Festival. You’re not young either; it’s about time you considered marriage, right?”

Gu Jizhou smiled, his head bowed, ”Great-grandfather, I’ll bring her to meet you and uncle at Dragon Boat Festival, please help me take a look.”

The old man, still irritated with Gu Jizhou moments ago, quickly calmed down upon hearing this. The person who had always been dissolute in his private life was suddenly contemplating marriage, which could be seen as a kind of awakening, ”Just bring her over when the time comes!”

Gu Jizhou smiled, glancing in Huo Jinnan’s direction, ”Uncle, I’m really curious what kind of woman would catch your eye. How about bringing her over during the Dragon Boat Festival as well?”

On hearing this, the old man’s mood brightened. He looked towards Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, if there really is someone suitable, bring her over for Dragon Boat Festival.”

No sooner had the words left his mouth did the old man feel it wasn’t quite appropriate, as if the words he’d said were already beyond taking back.

He gave Gu Jizhou a heavy look, ”Bring your own; I don’t really hold much hope for you.”

Huo Jinnan, who had been listening by the side, waited for the old man to finish speaking. Raising his brows, his eyes coolly swept over Gu Jizhou, he gave a profoundly cryptic smile, ”Too early. Let’s wait for Mid-Autumn Festival.”
