Daddy Always Gets Jealous

After only three rings, the phone was answered.

Uncle Lu asked anxiously, ”Young Master, where are you?”

”Oh, I’ve already taken a taxi back, you can come back too.”

The little guy sounded listless; thinking about all of Huo Jinnan’s missed calls made him feel gloomy for not being able to see Huanhuan off.

As it turned out, he couldn’t reach Huo Jinnan by phone, so he called Huo Bei, only to find out they were still out!

He had intended to take a taxi to Huanhuan’s place, but since it was always Uncle Lu who drove there and he didn’t know the name of the place, he gave up and just took a taxi back to the South Garden.

The more he thought about it, the more unhappy he became; Huo Jinnan was indeed his nemesis!

When Uncle Lu heard that the Young Master had returned, he breathed a sigh of relief, drove back to Nanyuan Villa, and seeing that the little guy was safe and sound, he felt relieved again. If anything had happened to the Young Master, even risking his old life wouldn’t make up for it!

The little guy looked at Uncle Lu, ”Did you deliver it?”

Uncle Lu replied, knowing that the Young Master didn’t like being called the Young Master, and didn’t mention the encounter with the cousin.

The little guy glanced at Uncle Lu and, wearing slippers, trudged upstairs.

Uncle Lu turned to Mrs. Rong, ”What’s wrong with the Young Master?”

Mrs. Rong quietly said, ”Seems unhappy.”

Unhappy?

Uncle Lu quickly understood and then thought of Miss Cheng possibly being the cousin’s wife, which troubled his mind!

——Yunqi Academy——

After finishing his work, Huo Jinnan saw the missed calls on his phone, lit a cigarette, looked up at Huo Bei who had entered the suite, and closed the door behind him.

Huo Bei closed the door casually and looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Sir, we’ve just received news that the cousin has hired a private investigator to check up on you and Miss Cheng.”

Huo Jinnan’s slender fingers twirled the lighter’s wheel, his head bowed as he watched it ignite and then extinguish, repeatedly flicking it on and off. His cool eyes reflected the orange flame, ”Then let him investigate thoroughly.”

Remembering what Uncle Lu had said before, he looked up at Huo Bei, ”Find something for him to do, to keep him busy from now on.”

”Yes, sir,” said Huo Bei, taking another glance at Huo Jinnan before leaving the study.

Why would the sir suddenly want to keep the cousin busy?

What was his intention?

Huo Bei couldn’t figure it out for a moment and went to carry out the instructions.

The next day, news that ”AIIB Investment Bank had liquidated all its shares in Guyuan Group” caused a massive upheaval. Guyuan’s stock price plummeted, almost hitting the limit down.

Huo Jinnan sat in front of the desk in the suite, looking at the newspaper without lifting his head, and said in a low voice, ”Not busy enough.”

”Understood, sir.”

Huo Bei stood to the side, leaning slightly forward. This was indeed not enough to keep one busy; just a few words from the old master and the funds would soon be in place.

On Thursday evening, while Huo Jinnan was watching the news, the anchor’s deep and dignified voice said, ”We interrupt this program to bring you a news flash. On March 21, a major safety accident occurred at a real estate project under Guyuan in Hongcheng, resulting in 10 deaths and 8 injuries. However, as of the deadline for this report, Guyuan Group has not made any public announcement regarding the incident, has refused interviews with journalists, and the relevant authorities have begun an investigation. Our station will continue to follow and report on this incident.”

That same night, the old master returned to Hongcheng and urgently convened a family meeting, calling Huo Jinnan, who had just returned to Hongcheng, to join as well.

As soon as Gu Jizhou arrived, the old master took him to task with a stern scolding, ”This is no small matter, are you really able to handle this?”

Gu Jizhou sat there with his head bowed, saying nothing.

After the old master gave a lengthy lecture and felt thirsty, he picked up a teacup, took a sip, and looking at Gu Jizhou, asked, ”What exactly happened?”

Gu Jizhou remained silent.

”All you do is cause trouble for me!” the old master shouted angrily, picking up the teacup and throwing it at Gu Jizhou, hitting him right in the forehead.
