Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Thinking about the situation that night, Gu Jizhou looked down and smiled, a glint of sinister intent flashing through his eyes, ”Uncle Lu has been single for so many years, and it seems he finally has a girlfriend now. It should be a good thing, but Uncle, I still want to offer a word of caution. Letting Xiaowei take a taxi back to South Garden alone while he goes to escort his girlfriend, I’m afraid that’s not very appropriate.”

Huo Jinnan remained silent.

The old man felt uncomfortable after hearing this and looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, you should give some thought to the suggestion I just made. After all, servants are servants, they’re not that devoted when it comes to caring for children.”

Huo Jinnan’s eyes swept over Gu Jizhou with a deep and enigmatic gaze before looking in the old man’s direction, ”I’ll ask Uncle Lu about it. One departure, and that’s it.”

There was nothing more the old man could say.

Huo Jinnan left the study, passing by Gu Jizhou, and went straight downstairs.

Gu Jizhou stood there watching. He had anticipated this would happen, but he still couldn’t resist speaking out just now!

Watching Huo Jinnan’s retreating figure, he went over to support the old man, ”Great Grandfather, let me help you downstairs.”

The old man took his arm with gratitude, ”What does the girl’s family do?”

Gu Jizhou thought of Uncle Lu sending Che Huan home, feeling somewhat stifled, ”Just an ordinary family.”

The old man looked at Huo Jinnan’s back, feeling a chill in his heart, ”How long have they been together?”

Gu Jizhou spoke in a low voice, ”Several years now.”

The old man withdrew his gaze, turning to look at Gu Jizhou, ”What’s her character like?”

Gu Jizhou smiled, ”Great Grandfather, I’m certain you will like her once you meet her.”

The old man was very pleased upon hearing this and remembered that the Dragon Boat Festival wasn’t far off, ”You handle this matter yourself this time.”

Gu Jizhou responded with a voice of acquiescence, his eyes narrowing subtly, understanding that someone wanted to stab him in the back. In Hongcheng, there weren’t many who had such power, just a handful of people that could be counted!

Mr. Huo was one of them.

Whenever he thought of Mr. Huo, a face would always come to mind—his uncle’s!

There was no particular reason, just intuition.

He continued to ponder this as he assisted the old man into the living room where they sat down.

The old man looked at Huo Jinyun, ”Jizhou mentioned there’s a nice young lady he’s been seeing for years. He’ll bring her over during the Dragon Boat Festival for Anan and me to meet. Have you seen her?”

Upon hearing this, Huo Jinyun glanced at Gu Jizhou, having in mind his recent intimate interactions with an insignificant actress, and quickly spoke up, ”Don’t listen to his nonsense, I have no idea he has had a girlfriend for many years.”

The old man turned his gaze toward Gu Jizhou.

Gu Jizhou smiled inscrutably, ”Grandfather, you will know when the time comes. I kept it a secret from my mom, wanting you to be the first to approve.”

He glanced naturally in Huo Jinnan’s direction.

Huo Jinnan wasn’t looking at him, absorbed in reading the morning edition of the Hongcheng Daily News.

Noticing Jizhou’s look, Huo Jinyun glanced at Huo Jinnan, her mind shifting to Yunqing, ”Anan, come have a meal at your sister’s place someday, and give some guidance to your good-for-nothing nephew.”

Huo Jinnan put down the newspaper in his hand, lifted his head to look at her, and nodded slightly, ”I’ve been quite busy lately, we can talk about it when I’m free.”

After a pause, he lifted his gaze towards Gu Jizhou, ”Jizhou is a promising young man and a distinguished representative of Hongcheng’s youth. I’m afraid I can’t instruct him.”

The old man chimed in, ”Anan, you should take Jizhou under your wing. He’s still young and impetuous, he just doesn’t have the patience. A distinguished representative? That’s just the media flattering him.”

Huo Jinnan lowered his eyes, smiled quietly, and fiddled with the cigarette in his hand, ”Grandfather wants me to teach him photography? That’s the only area where I can offer him guidance, but Jizhou doesn’t seem too interested.”

The old man gave Huo Jinnan a few more glances. Although nominally Anan was just traveling around, taking a few photos here and there, the old man didn’t believe that’s all Anan had been up to these years!
