Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 299: Chapter 300: Heaven-Defying Resolve

By the time Runar finally arrived at the coordinates, the battle had already begun, forcing him to a complete halt at the outer edge of the distorted territory. What he saw through his golden-white eyes was enough to make any sane cultivator turn back and flee, because the space-time ahead wasn’t merely cracked or strained by heavy attacks; it was fundamentally broken.

Fractures of the void layered over one another like shattered mirrors, while shards of parallel timelines flickered in and out of existence in a dizzying display of collapsed reality.

Entire stretches of the layer had been rewritten into overlapping folds of pure, unadulterated force, and residual runes burned in the air like living scars that refused to fade. Each of those lingering runes carried enough conceptual weight to crush a Multiversal being who stepped too close, turning the area into less of a battlefield and more of an absolute death zone where the only rule was to interfere and die.

Runar’s spiritual sense swept forward out of habit, but the moment it touched the outermost ripple of the battlefield, a sharp warning flared through his mind and he pulled it back before the backlash could settle. His Eye of Myriad Truths, which had allowed him to read through countless hidden structures since entering the Reliquary, could only give him fragmented information from the outside, because the battlefield itself had become a place where truth was unstable and even observation carried danger.

He could see pieces of the fight through the broken folds of space, but each fragment seemed to belong to a different possible outcome, as if the battle had become too large for a single timeline to contain.

In one flickering shard, the guardian’s darkness swallowed the void; in another, the woman stood unmoved while the guardian collapsed into silence; in yet another, everything simply ended in a white ruin that left no corpses and no echoes behind.

The pressure rolling outward from the battlefield was not the kind that pressed against the body or suppressed cultivation; it was the kind that challenged the very right of an outside existence to remain present.

Runar could feel the local laws trying to decide whether he belonged there, and every time his presence brushed the edge of the conflict, the broken space-time seemed to consider erasing him as an error. He stood perfectly still, breathing slow and controlled, while his mind processed the situation with the cold precision that had saved him from countless impossible situations.

Yet even that precision could not erase the obvious truth that this was not a battle he could casually enter, because the two existences at its center were fighting over something deeper than territory or survival. They were fighting over authority itself.

At the very center of that apocalyptic chaos, the Mysterious Woman moved with a quiet, terrifying precision that made Runar’s breath catch in his throat.

Despite the overwhelming destruction surrounding her, Runar saw fragments of what she was doing and it terrrified him more.

’This freakish woman is still in her Mortal form.’ He thought still surprised.

She was still entirely in her mortal form, completely suppressed by the Reliquary’s ironclad rules. She had never bothered to cultivate during the ten days of the safety zone, nor had she tried to recover her physical power, open her channels, or form internal rings.

She had not done what every other survivor had desperately attempted to do, because she had never treated the trial’s suppression as a real obstacle.

Instead, she simply stood in the middle of the storm and imposed her will upon the world, proving that her sheer willpower was more than enough to dominate a Pseudo-Paragon. Golden and silver runes manifested directly from her intent, forming and collapsing in the exact same breath without the need for chanting, gathering energy, or deliberate preparation. The runes appeared simply because she decided they should exist, with each perfect structure carrying the immense, crushing weight of a true Paragon’s comprehension.

Runar’s eyes narrowed as his Eye struggled to read the logic behind her actions, because what she was doing violated almost everything he had learned about cultivation under suppression. The Reliquary’s rules were supposed to strip everyone down to the same foundation, forcing them to rebuild from nothing and limiting the power they could access within the trial. Yet her runes did not draw from recovered energy, nor did they rely on a rebuilt cultivation base.

They emerged from her comprehension alone, as if her understanding of the world was so complete that reality accepted her commands even when her body had been reduced to mortality. The suppression tried to press down on the runes she created, just as it pressed down on everything else in the trial, but those runes did not bow. They simply existed with a kind of authority that made the suppression itself seem irrelevant.

That realization hit Runar harder than any physical blow could have, because it showed him that the woman was not bypassing the Reliquary’s rules through some hidden loophole or secret technique. She was standing above them. The difference between them was not that she had found a clever method to resist the trial, but that her comprehension operated on a level the trial could not fully govern.

Even if her body was mortal, even if her energy was sealed, even if the layer refused to acknowledge her original power, her mind still carried the weight of a Paragon. That weight alone was enough to reshape the battlefield.

In simple terms this just goes to show that a ’Clone of a Paragon’ was still a fucking Paragon. And never to be underestimated.

The Pseudo-Paragon guardian, a vast shadow of shifting geometry and living law, was being systematically taken apart piece by piece. Its massive golden rings cracked under successive waves of her runic pressure, and its body of compressed darkness was forced into smaller, more desperate configurations. Every time the guardian attempted a counterattack, it was immediately met with a new layer of conceptual structure that nullified its principle before the attack could even fully form. When it tried to fold space around her, she wrote a single silver line beneath her feet and the fold collapsed into itself. When it tried to rewrite the distance between them, she formed a golden rune in the air and the concept of distance shattered before it could take effect. When it called upon the ancient script carved into its own being, the same language once used by the Rune Sovereign, her gaze simply sharpened and that script froze in place as though it had been caught by a higher grammar.

She was making incredibly quick work of a being that should have been the ultimate terror of the trial, completely dismantling it despite remaining in a fragile mortal shell. It was a stark, terrifying reminder that even as a clone, she was still a Paragon, an existence whose true depth and terror should never be underestimated by anyone.

The guardian was not weak, and Runar could tell that much from the way its presence alone distorted the layer, because a Pseudo-Paragon was not merely a monster with overwhelming energy; it was a being that had touched the edge of a higher realm and carried laws that most Multiversal cultivators could not even comprehend. Yet against this woman, it was losing. Not slowly, not through attrition, but through pure conceptual dismantling.

Watching her effortless display in silence, Runar gritted his teeth so hard his jaw ached, struggling to process the sheer magnitude of the gap between them. This was the first major setback he had faced since his reincarnation, bringing with it a crushing, deeply unfamiliar sense of inferiority. He had always believed himself to be a supreme genius, relying on his comprehension to carry him further than raw talent or resources ever could, treating every bottleneck as a mere puzzle waiting to be solved.

In his previous life and in this one, his intellect and understanding had been his greatest weapons, allowing him to punch far above his weight class and defeat enemies who should have easily crushed him.

He had never been the one with the strongest body, the deepest resources, or the most intimidating bloodline, but he had always been the one who could read the rules of the world faster than anyone else and turn those rules against his opponents.

However, entering the wider Multiverse had slowly taught him the humbling truth that there were ancient races and supreme bloodlines whose starting points surpassed what most beings achieved in a lifetime.

He had realized that while he was undeniably excellent, he was not supreme, and the woman casually dismantling a Pseudo-Paragon in front of him was living proof of those terrifying existences born at the very summit of creation.

There were monsters in this vast Multiverse who didn’t need to struggle or bleed for every inch of progress, beings who simply existed at a height he had to fight tooth and nail to even glimpse.

Some were born with principles already woven into their souls. Some carried bloodlines that had been refined over epochs until their very thoughts could influence reality. Some stood atop civilizations and legacies so ancient that their understanding had been polished into something almost absolute. Runar had known this in the memories he had absorbed from the void dragon, but seeing it embodied in the woman before him made the truth feel heavier than it ever had before.

Now, this woman was about to claim the exact legacy he desperately needed, threatening to close the door on his own path forever and leave him with nothing but the scraps of the trial.

The Rune Sovereign’s inheritance was not just another reward to him, because it represented the next step in his understanding, the key to the deeper runic language that governed the Reliquary and the multiverse at large, and possibly the only way to protect himself from the Ancient Will’s schemes, if it had one. If she took it, the balance would shift beyond recovery.

A Paragon who already stood at the peak of the Multiverse gaining the Sovereign’s legacy would become an existence even harder to challenge, and Runar would lose the opportunity he had fought so hard to reach. He could not afford to stand there and watch that happen, no matter how impossible the battlefield looked.

As the guardian’s resistance began to visibly collapse, its ancient script unraveling under her relentless assault, Runar’s hands curled into tight fists at his sides. The guardian tried one final surge of power, and the void around it darkened as dozens of golden rings expanded outward, each one carrying a different law that attempted to rewrite the battlefield in the guardian’s favor. The pressure was so intense that even Runar, standing far outside the main conflict, felt his dual halos spin faster in warning.

Yet the woman only lifted her hand once, and a lattice of golden-silver runes bloomed around her like a flower made of law itself. The guardian’s rings struck that lattice and shattered one after another, their fragments dissolving into nothing before they could fall. The battlefield trembled, not from force, but from the fact that the guardian’s authority was being stripped away layer by layer.
