Chapter 3018: Chapter 31: Two Suggestions

Zheng Qing stood by the pool.

Silently looking toward the outside of the wall, into the deep night, his heart a tangled mess of emotions.

Behind him.

The Yellow Flowered Cat and the Little Green Snake that somehow slipped off his ear were whispering to each other in a voice just loud enough for a boy to hear.

”—Do you know who the Jiang Family little girl was scolding?”

The Flower Cat’s tone carried a trace of confusion.

The Little Green Snake pondered for a moment, ultimately shook his head uncertainly: ”—It’s not me anyway.”

”You mean she might be scolding me?” The Flower Cat instantly became somewhat indignant: ”I can understand her scolding Little Susu, and accepting her scolding Little Scum... But what’s the meaning of her scolding me?”

”Means you failed to act when you should have.”

The Little Green Snake flicked its tongue, its tone somewhat significant, as if saying this not only to the Flower Cat: ”Always feeling clever to remain uninvolved in certain disputes, yet unaware that this indecisive choice ends up hurting both sides.”

Zheng Qing finally could not pretend he couldn’t hear their conversation anymore.

”You two shut up!”

The young wizard caressed the ring on his hand, interrupted irritably: ”If you’re truly bored, go to the Silent Forest and catch me some Seven-colored Deer to prevent my yard from feeling empty... or reconstruct a set of protection formations nearby to keep those Evil Spirits outside from causing trouble for us!”

”Do we seem like people afraid of trouble?” The Little Green Snake flicked the tip of its tail, making a swooshing sound.

”Firstly, you’re not human. Secondly, cleaning up corpses is really troublesome.” Zheng Qing sighed deeply, his mood slightly recovering.

But the Yellow Flowered Cat did not want him to quickly shake off the previous gloom.

”—What’s troublesome about cleaning up corpses?”

It paced cat-like strides, elegantly moving in front of the Warlock, sitting upright and speaking in a sage-like tone: ”For you, the truly troublesome things are not the monsters in the Silent Forest, not the mundane affairs of the Edge Academy or related departments, not the Starry Sky, Forbidden Curse, or any other Legend... these matters are fixed on the timeline, you’ll eventually face and solve them. But those truly problematic things are the ones you’ve been procrastinating on from the beginning, not addressing.”

The Little Green Snake’s chilly voice sounded from the side, adding: ”—Those troubles you can procrastinate on for as long as you want, it’s fine. It’s just that when you’ve dealt with the outside affairs and come back again, those troubles will still be there. And they’ll be even more thorny than before you left.”

Zheng Qing opened his mouth.

Attempted to argue.

Yet found he had nothing to say.

...

...

Woosh!

Su Shijun’s silhouette silently appeared in the small garden of the Greenhill Mansion.

She let out a long breath, a slight sweat bead formed on her nose, her face flushed as if she’d just been through a battle.

Deep in the night, not a person was in the garden.

She casually kicked off her high heels, barefoot, stepping onto the soft grass, heading into the mansion. Under the moonlight, flowers bloomed at her feet, initially white, quickly turning crimson, and then behind the witch, shyly curling their petals and returning underground as seeds.

Passing through the garden, finally no flowers bloomed.

The witch’s face returned to normal, her skin glowing under the moonlight, like White Jade. She quietly passed through the atrium and flower hall, heading straight to her study.

A slight orange light leaked out from beneath the closed study door.

Su Shijun’s gaze wavered slightly, yet her pace didn’t falter at all, pushing the door open and entering. Inside the room, behind her desk, a witch bearing a seventy-eight percent resemblance to her was lazily curled up, her fluffy large tail like a blanket wrapping her, appearing both warm and comfortable.

”—Back?”

The Qingqiu Ancestor lazily greeted: ”I’ve always thought this mansion feels a bit empty, and the area is a bit small. Do you think maybe it should be expanded a little, connected to a Small World? That way your family can have more space for walks.”

”The lab is very busy, I don’t have time for walks.” Su Shijun replied expressionlessly.

The witch behind the desk slightly smirked.

”No time for walks, but time for wandering around Silent Forest all night in a Pumpkin Car?” she laughed somewhat mischievously: ”—The lab is very busy? Busy testing from which angle to kiss when the other doesn’t have time to react?”

The owner of the Greenhill Mansion finally cracked a little.

”How do you know these things!”

The blush she’d tossed into the small garden resurfaced on her face, somewhat agitated: ”—Wasn’t that Flower Cat guarding on the side?”

”It’s quite generous with sharing.” The Big Fox behind the desk smiled with narrowed eyes.

This sentence carried a lot of information.

Su Shijun suddenly wanted to quit—no, just quitting wasn’t enough, she wanted to retreat! Retreat and cultivate for a hundred years! The thought of possibly more than one elder witnessing that scene, this Upper House Member of the Moon Council felt a murderous intent to silence.

She seriously scrutinized the witch behind the desk.

The Qingqiu Ancestor was arranging her tail tips into an array, lined up on the desk: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, a whole eight tail tips, like eight mischievous fingers tapping merrily on the tabletop.

The young Big Wizard’s anger popped like a balloon pricked by a needle, deflated completely, and he collapsed onto the couch beside, muffled questioning: ”—Are the Legends all so idle?”

”Quite the opposite.”

The Eight-tailed Fox behind the desk chuckled lightly, seemingly satisfied with Su Shijun’s expression, her tone becoming even lazier: ”The Legends are very busy, won’t spare attention unless it’s something very important... and that newly appointed Edge Dean fits into that important category. Two years ago, beside the master, I met him once; a few days ago, at Danghag, I saw him again. Perhaps you only noticed the hesitation in his eyes, but from our perspective, he seems increasingly real.”

”Real?”

”...Just as reality is real to dreams, high dimensions are real to low dimensions.”

The witch behind the desk spoke with slightly more seriousness: ”I can see his physique becoming more robust, his soul more solid, his will clearer... It’s a very subtle feeling, like watching a Simple Sketch on paper with more and more strokes, richer and richer colors, steadily becoming real, until one day, he seems ready to walk out of the drawing.”

”And so?” Su Shijun calmly countered.

The owner of Qingqiu Mountain smiled, shaking her head slightly: ”Don’t be so tense. I won’t do anything to your little lover. On the contrary, I’m here to remind you... don’t view the boy in front of you with four-year-old eyes. Reserve in the face of the Dao is worthless. You did well tonight. But I believe you can go a bit further...”

Before the word finished.

A pillow was aggressively thrown over by the embarrassed Su Shijun.

Only ended up missing its target.

The witch behind the desk had vanished without a trace some time ago, leaving only her shadow swaying on the wall inside the study.
