High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3022: Chapter 35: Office Director Candidates

Korma slowly flipped through the remaining resumes in front of her.

Besides Su Shijun and Jiang Yu, she also saw the former spokesperson for the assistant group, Gongsun Xiaolin, the Trident Sword’s resident agent in Beta Town, Andrew, Professor Dolag Barton from the Magical Creatures Research Institute, and the honorary chairperson of many student council terms, the three-headed Persian parakeet.

She first discarded the parakeet’s resume.

”——I just feel that if we choose it, everyone’s tensions might not be so intense.” The young dean cleared his throat and explained in a small voice.

”It might also make some people feel that they’re less than a bird.”

The vice dean of Edge Academy looked at the warlock reproachfully, paused, and added: ”——Moreover, although our academy advocates teaching without discrimination, education is ultimately a very serious matter. Letting a parakeet handle academy office affairs is not only lacking in dignity but also irresponsible.”

Then, she discarded Andrew’s resume as the second one.

”——The Trident Sword wanting to extend its reach into the school is not qualified yet.” Korma shook her head slightly: ”This choice is unrelated to personal ability... If it were someone from Danghag, it might be worth considering.”

She divided the remaining four resumes into two groups.

On the left were Su Shijun and Jiang Yu.

On the right were Professor Dolag Barton and Gongsun Xiaolin.

Gongsun Xiaolin was a young warlock with a bluish complexion, sporting a fringe like Deng Xiaoxian, looking serious, and very ceremoniously greeted Zheng Qing under scrutiny; whereas Professor Dolag Barton’s photo was empty, leading Zheng Qing to suspect the old gentleman might be visiting other photo frames.

”Now you only have one choice.”

The witch pointed to the resumes on the left: ”Either you choose both of them, or you let both fail... I prefer you choose Professor Barton and Gongsun Xiaolin.”

”Choose two people?” Zheng Qing was taken aback.

”It’s for balance.”

Korma patiently explained: ”Just like Su Councilor represents the Moon Council, Jiang Yu represents the Wizard Council... Professor Barton has a good relationship with the Wizard Council, and Gongsun Xiaolin, just from the surname, should make you think of which family he belongs to.”

”The zombie family from the Moon Council? I remember there’s an Upper House Member called Gongsun Bing in the Moon Council.” Zheng Qing revealed a trace of realization, glanced at the resume again, and showed a bit of curiosity: ”I’ve suddenly gotten a bit interested in him. A wizard from the zombie clan serving as a spokesperson for the assistant group? Are zombies this eloquent nowadays?”

”Is that where your focus should be?” The witch was displeased.

”Cough, cough, I mean... which of the two do you think should be the main role, and which the secondary?” Zheng Qing chuckled awkwardly, picked up the two resumes again, and examined them carefully.

”Why differentiate between main and secondary?” Korma countered.

Zheng Qing looked up confusedly, glanced at her, then quickly eyed the other two witch resumes on the table: ”If there’s no main or secondary, why should I choose both?”

The North District Grand-Wizard pressed the witch resumes with her fingertip, moved them aside, and rudely negated: ”——Because choosing these two, you can’t work with peace of mind. As for the other two, you can refer to the history of Alpha Academy, set up a student office director and a teaching office director... Of course, whether Gongsun Xiaolin or Professor Barton, it’s merely a makeshift arrangement. Once truly adapted to this school, we need to select our own people for these positions.”

At the mention of ’our own people,’ Zheng Qing couldn’t help but think of the Yuzui Hunting Team and the assistant group, then sighed deeply.

Not to mention the assistant group, his year in acting duty introduced him to familiar old faces, and the one most suitable for the office director role, Thomas, is now an A-level wanted fugitive by the Alliance.

And in the Yuzui Hunting Team, it’s also tough to find suitable candidates.

Zhang Ji Xin is obsessed with hunting, Xin Fat Man and Dylan were pulled by him to maintain the main framework of Yuzui.

Lin Guo spends most of his time consumed in the Giant God Soldier Project Team.

Li Meng is unreliable, Shi Yuan is only good at chanting sutras, and as for Blue Bird, this young master might not speak for half a month——Zheng Qing finds it hard to imagine a wizard lacking communication skills serving a role requiring such skills as the office director.

Among the remaining few, Zhu Si already holds a position——managing minority race pre-university students, responsible for pre-university studies of magical tribes like Mouse People, Fishman, Ninfus, Hui Zong, Centaur, etc., before entering Edge Academy.

Xiao Xiao now joins the assistant group and very politely refused Zheng Qing’s invitation: ”——The office director role is a job consuming a lot of energy and time, no wizard pursuing magic would waste time on it. However, if needed, I could serve as the liaison between Edge Academy and the assistant group.”

The assistant group’s liaison is also a position each academy must have.

This lazy bugger.

Zheng Qing took a deep breath, making his final decision: ”Then, let Gongsun Xiaolin be the student office director, and let Professor Barton be the teaching office director.”

”You don’t necessarily need to make an immediate decision, you can take your time to think... It’s the dean’s privilege.”

The North District Grand-Wizard smiled at the young dean, as if talking about the office director candidates, but tapped the witch resumes with her fingers, subtly hinted other meanings: ”——Sometimes, putting problems aside and letting them sit sees them disappear on their own. Anthony Russel hasn’t replied to anyone for fifty years, and yet everything’s fine.”

”Who?”

”Anthony Russel, the famous master of the Transformation Technique, leader of the Oak Knights.”

Korma joyfully introduced: ”During his druids’ conquest of a new world, facing major difficulties with slow progress and heavy casualties... they could not reach their leader. According to Russel, if something is still a problem fifty years later, it’s not too late to deal with it; if something is resolved within fifty years, then it’s not a problem.”

Zheng Qing finally recalled the master transformation artist mentioned by Korma was a legendary powerhouse.

He glanced at the flower cat dozing on the desk, raised his hand to touch Xiaoqing hanging from his ear—both had opinions on ’problems’ starkly different from Korma.

”Others can’t wait fifty years.” he muttered.

”Ordinary people perhaps can’t, but we’re wizards... And you’re a legend. Fifty years to us is not much different from five years. Who knows? Maybe ten or even twenty years hence, our thoughts will be utterly different from now.”
