High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3038: Chapter 51: Learning to Be Inclusive

After Poseidon left.

Zheng Qing and the two witches around him suddenly felt much quieter. The wizards with the privilege of attending this gathering mostly had worldly experience and insight. While they might be curious about gossip, they would by no means be overly impolite on such an occasion. They sensibly kept their distance, making the area around the three of them even more spacious.

This left Zheng Qing feeling quite helpless.

He was originally hoping to take advantage of someone coming over to chat to slip away quietly.

”—So, what exactly happened with that explosion at your Xuanhuang Palace?”

Su Shijun looked at the warlock with a subtle expression, her tone somewhat teasing: ”Miss Jiang and I just stayed for a moment and ended up taking a huge blame. Shouldn’t you give us some explanation? ... I am often targeted by those newspapers, used to gossip, so it doesn’t matter... But Miss Jiang from the Jiang Family is an honest girl, affected by this, it might not be good, right?”

She pronounced the words ’honest girl’ especially clearly.

I knew it, I knew it!

Zheng Qing felt his head splitting. He deeply regretted not slipping away with Poseidon just now. But even in the Wizard World, there’s no real remedy for regret.

Sure enough, hearing Su Shijun’s words, Jiang Yu couldn’t hold herself any longer, glanced at the warlock and chuckled lightly: ”Su Councilor need not belittle yourself, as far as I know, Dong Dong only responds to divine connections, you are still clearly innocent. A big wizard like you with a prestigious status isn’t bothered, so what noteworthy complaint could I have?”

Both of them are innocent.

It was natural that the person causing them to suffer unjustly would bear all the resentment.

”It’s a misunderstanding, you all misunderstood.”

As soon as the word ’warlock’ came out, it immediately attracted two pairs of angry eyes, scaring him into stuttering. Then, speaking quickly, he explained, ”—I mean, the explosion at Xuanhuang Palace was a misunderstanding! When you came that day, wasn’t the old locust tree in the yard, um, departed for some reason? It left a huge pit in the palace... so I thought, while the pit’s still there, it would be less troublesome to plant that Xuanhuang Tree, but then I overlooked the connection between the Xuanhuang Wood and the Small World. It grew from a young age in that Small World, its roots had already spread to every corner of the Small World, so when released, it almost brought out the entire Small World. In other words, our soil pit suddenly had a Small World stuffed into it...”

Saying this, Zheng Qing shook his head somewhat fearfully.

”—Luckily Brother Huang and Xiaoqing were present, along with Taiyi and Primordial, we managed to stabilize the spatial structure near Xuanhuang Palace. But as you know, these matters are not resolved overnight... it will still require slow refinement later.”

For some reason, he suddenly became happy again: ”But this isn’t entirely a bad thing. I originally planned to reconstruct the Protect Array of Xuanhuang Palace but never found a suitable opportunity. This time, by lucky mistake, we’ve essentially formed a natural spatial labyrinth on top of it... with slight modifications, using the ’Yin Yang’ laws of Primordial or Taiyi, there’s a chance to reconstruct a Two Forms Dust-like Protect Array...”

”By then, the Great Elves living there would be much safer.” Jiang Yu nodded with satisfaction, revisiting a previous idea she had.

Su Shijun looked unhappy, but this time she did not outright refuse. Instead, she beckoned to someone not far away: ”Zheng Suyi? You three come over here!”

The three large elves who had just walked hand-in-hand past the entrance looked startled. After confirming they were indeed called, they reluctantly approached.

”—This sister wants you to live in the Silent Forest, there’s a very beautiful palace there, do you want to go?” Su Shijun quickly passed the decision into the hands of the three Great Elves.

Hearing ’Silent Forest’, the three Great Elves, having received traditional safety education, immediately shook their heads vigorously like rattles, each eager to say they definitely will not go to such a dangerous place.

Especially Zheng Susu, who had previously sneaked away to the Wandering Bar, had the most resolute tone.

”—That palace is your father’s residence, very safe.” Jiang Yu added lightly from the side.

This immediately put the Great Elves in a dilemma. Though not long into adulthood, they are inherently sensitive elves who can easily perceive the subtle atmosphere amongst the adults. Instantly faltering, they glanced around but dared not speak.

Zheng Qing looked at the big elf with a wrinkled little face.

Suddenly, he felt a bit emotional.

Ah, we eventually become what we once disliked.

”Let’s discuss this matter slowly...” He waved his hand, signaling the Great Elves to go and play elsewhere. The Elves felt relieved and vanished from sight in the blink of an eye.

The two witches seemed slightly displeased that this matter required ’further discussion’.

Through his peripheral vision, Zheng Qing caught sight of Korma, seemingly with his back to them, suddenly having an idea.

”I heard that Korma recruited an ogre to be a professor at Edge Academy.” He could clearly see that when he mentioned Korma’s name, the back of the North District Grand-Wizard over there stiffened slightly.

”Ogre? Did I hear that right?” Su Shijun usually stayed in the laboratory and rarely paid attention to such ordinary personnel arrangements. Hearing this, she couldn’t help but be a bit surprised.

”To be precise, it’s a two-headed ogre who has taken the vow,” Jiang Yu evidently had heard this news and briefly added.

Zheng Qing nodded slightly: ”I was also shocked when I first heard about this. But Korma said something I found very reasonable... We established Edge Academy not because it’s so special, but to allow more people access to a better magical education. Fishmen and half-giants can become students at the Edge, and ogres can become professors at the academy. These choices precisely illustrate the inclusivity and universality of Edge Academy. Any race, any cultural background wizard, as long as they meet our requirements, can enter this academy. Everyone is united under the clover symbol because of their pursuit of magic.”

Su Shijun understood the implied meaning of the boy’s words.

”Since the first day of its establishment, First University has aspired to teach everyone inclusivity, and what’s the result?”

She glanced at the witch beside her and smiled slightly: ”Look at Jiuyou and Alpha. Every wizard seeks their ’brethren’ within the school and gravitates towards them, focusing on bloodline, admiring talent, valuing hard work, enjoying combat...”

”Things will eventually change.”

Zheng Qing slightly heightened his tone, ”Professor Li from the magic potion course once said when he was studying at First University, fishmen, like Fence Fairies, were undeniably pests in the Wizard World. Now, we can see fishmen professors walking safely in the campus wearing robes, every student politely bowing to them... give it time, everything becomes possible.”

The two ladies said nothing.

Just steadfastly stared at him.

Their expressions were inscrutable.
