Chapter 3032: Chapter 45: Xuanhuang Palace

Boom!

Rumble!

The old locust tree in Ziwei Palace staggered heavily towards the wall, not daring to dismantle it, instead climbing with several thick branches while its roots withdrew upwards. Its enormous body tilted slightly to the left, seeming to make an effort.

Zheng Qing watched this scene and suddenly felt very sorry.

However, there were more things to feel sorry about than just an old tree.

He could quietly watch the old tree waver and disappear into the depths of Silent Forest, but he could not calmly accept Poseidon, Zheng Su 123, or the Little White Cat disappearing from his life.

But at the moment, besides feeling sorry, he seemed to have no other choice — or rather, in some dark corner of his heart, he was hoping never to have to make a choice.

The atmosphere of panic in the field did not further ferment after reaching a certain point.

Zheng Qing rubbed the ’Taiyi’ ring on his hand and withdrew his gaze from the old locust tree disappearing beyond the wall, gathering courage to look again at the two witches — for a few seconds, he truly wanted to summon Taiyi, use the power of Legend to skip this awkward timeline and seek a safer future.

Yet deceiving time only wastes his own life; deceiving the heart might waste more lives than just his own.

”— What brings you here today?”

The warlock’s voice, outside the wall amidst the vague rumbling sounds, seemed somewhat weak. He noticed the two witches exchanged glances, possibly sharing a look?

This brought a faint sense of foreboding to his heart.

The previously stabilized ’panic index’ began to show signs of rising again.

”We heard...”

Jiang Yu had just spoken four words when Su Shijun suddenly interrupted.

”— We heard the plaque on your gate has fallen?” The Upper House Member of the Moon Council inquired lightly and briskly: ”When do you plan to replace it with a new one? Thought about who to inscribe it?”

Jiang Yu glanced deeply at her and did not continue speaking.

But at that moment, the foreboding in Zheng Qing’s heart suddenly disappeared — intuition told him that the two witches coming together today was certainly not simply because of the plaque at the entrance, long buried in dust for who knows how long — but he definitely wouldn’t foolishly find trouble for himself.

”No, haven’t thought about it.”

The warlock shook his head cautiously: ”... I’m thinking of cleaning the house first before inviting guests, then it should be time to hang a new plaque. As for the choice of calligrapher...”

”— I won’t inscribe it for you!”

A malicious cat’s voice suddenly came from the wall.

The two witches noticed Yellow Flowered Cat’s figure and immediately bowed in greeting.

Zheng Qing had already seen the Flower Cat watching the excitement, and snorted in annoyance: ”— First, you’re not human; second, I don’t plan to have a cat inscribe for me! Third...”

He belatedly realized that getting someone to inscribe it might not be a good idea.

In theory, Sir is the most appropriate choice, but now he’s not sure where Sir is, or even if he is still in this world, let alone asking Him to inscribe. Below Sir, other Ancient Ones giving him a plaque would be prestigious, but Zheng Qing doubts whether he has the face for that.

Moreover, he doesn’t know where to find those Ancient Ones.

As for other Legends, choosing If foolish, Shi Hui, Old Yao or Professor Emma might seem biased, as Edge Academy has just been established, without enough heritage to join the rivalry between the four academies and the two major forces, maintaining its current transparent state is quite good.

Choosing Legends outside the school also violates First University’s taboo — the only two choices that school would accept, whether the old lady from Zhongshan or Su Meiniang from Qingqiu, Zheng Qing lacks the courage to choose them, he can’t split a plaque in half and have them each write one part, can he?

”— Third, I think letting it grow its own name would be fine.”

Ultimately, he thought of a non-solution solution, chuckled awkwardly: ”As it’s said ’A name naturally formed, carved by time,’ hanging a blank plaque at the door, influenced by those living here, will eventually produce the most fitting words.”

This isn’t Zheng Qing’s fanciful thinking.

As the ancients said, a mountain doesn’t need to be high, as it becomes famous with an immortal, roughly meaning this.

Dong!

Su Shijun suddenly produced a heavy plaque from somewhere, placing it heavily beside her, holding the plaque with one hand, resting the other on her waist, smiling smugly.

”— I knew you wouldn’t have a choice, so I prepared a blank plaque in advance.”

She knocked on the precious-looking piece of wood beside her, happily adding: ”This material originally was a remnant of Xuanhuang Wood bought by an elder from Black Prison, intended for making a longevity coffin, but after all these years she hasn’t passed, the coffin has been moved bit by bit by everyone... I took a piece, she might even be happy!”

Zheng Qing looked at Jiang Yu blankly.

Do noble families in the wizard world always act this ’unpredictably,’ or is Qingqiu’s nest of foxes particularly unique?

Jiang Yu kept a stern face but didn’t seem very upset, apparently long accustomed to falling into disadvantage when sparring inadvertently with Su Da Fox — this is the result of rank disparity that can only be barely compensated through improvisation.

Then she glanced in the direction of the main gate.

”— When Dong Dong came last time, I remember your gate collapsed, right?” The witch, seemingly nonchalant, yet speaking like wielding a knife randomly: ”My house also has material of Xuanhuang Wood, just suitable for replacing your gate... preventing wild creatures from the forest slipping in through the door gaps.”

Zheng Qing quietly swallowed.

Ultimately dared not reject the goodwill of the two witches.

Jiang Yu deeply glanced at Su Shijun, turned around, turned into a white shadow, and disappeared in the pavilion.

”— Hold it!”

Su Shijun shouted lightly, pushed the heavy entrance plaque onto Zheng Qing: ”Isn’t it shameful letting me hold something this heavy all the time?”

Then she too turned into a green streak and vanished.

Truly coming in haste, leaving in haste. Jiang Yu being a cat, it’s understandable having this temperament. Su Shijun clearly is a fox, why also caught the cat’s quirky nature? 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Zheng Qing murmured inwardly, turned the ’Primordial’ ring, commanding the Primordial to hang this blank plaque on the gate. Before hanging, he pondered that the most likely names appearing on the plaque should be ’Order Tree’ or ’Order,’ failing that, the original robust name of this palace ’Purple Wisteria’ might reappear with high probability.

But the plaque was hung for only a moment.

Two unexpected words emerged slowly before Zheng Qing’s eyes.

”— Xuanhuang Palace?”

Yellow Flowered Cat squatted beside the warlock, shook its fur, and purred contentedly: ”This name, I like it, matches my fur color perfectly.”
