High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3013: Chapter 26: Inside and Outside the Wall

Bang!

Crash crash!

Boom!

The dense and heavy sounds of impact came from just across the wall, rising and falling. It felt as if someone was being swung by their ankles and smashed everywhere, causing a chilling fear and making one tremble.

The young hunters who were driven out of the ’Ziwei Palace’ looked at the crooked, yet still firmly embedded wooden door in the frame, exchanging confused glances with complex emotions.

”—Why does it sound like Sister Yu is using Mr. Zha as a hammer?” Lin Guo tightened the hunting robe around her, weakly glancing around and feeling the cold wind biting tonight: ”I thought she would use the Law book to smash.”

No one responded.

Clearly, the others felt the same way.

”Serves him right!”

Zhang Yudou—who is Zhang Ji Xin’s cousin, now already a veteran in the fourth grade—succinctly commented, looking somewhat aligned with Captain Jiang in common hatred: ”That’s how you should treat a scumbag!”

Zhang Ji Xin opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to remind his cousin to show enough respect towards a legend, but after thinking it over, he wisely kept silent.

On the contrary.

Xing Fat Man, who initially planned to watch the drama, was somewhat restless, glancing nervously at the Diviner of Absolution, and whispered as a reminder: ”That’s enough... will there be a casualty?”

”Hey! The Jiang Family might even be wishing for a casualty sooner.” Dylan chuckled maliciously.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, scraped his boots, and felt the slight tremor coming from the soles of his feet, shaking his head gently: ”As long as Mr. Zha is getting hit, it’s not a big problem... Have you forgotten how thick-skinned he was two years ago? Our only concern should be whether Sister Yu will injure her wrist.”

Zhang Yudou approvingly glanced at the Diviner and smacked her lips: ”Speaking of Sister Yu, she usually looks quiet, but unexpectedly... She must have been truly angered.”

Everyone shared the sentiment, nodding in unison.

Then, they continued to quietly listen with their ears perked up.

...

...

Inside the wall.

The scene inside was different from what everyone outside imagined.

Zheng Qing and Jiang Yuyan stood quietly in the yard, looking at each other speechless. Zheng Qing’s head was securely on his neck, and Jiang Yu’s copper-plated book hung faithfully on her belt. However, a palm-sized Little White Cat was holding a gigantic hammer, smashing everything around, kicking up dust and flying debris everywhere.

Yellow Flowered Cat wore a face full of dislike, grumbling as it walked away.

Pa!

A small piece of flying debris hit Zheng Qing’s face, leaving a very inconspicuous white spot. The Witch instinctively took a step forward, but upon seeing the white spot, she angrily stopped again.

”Be careful!”

Zheng Qing hurriedly stepped forward, using his hand to block another piece of debris flying towards the Witch.

”Get away!” The Witch pushed him away and scornfully said, ”Aren’t you the type to disappear without a word? Why are you suddenly staying today?”

Zheng Qing wore a bitter expression, slowly moving closer to the Witch, and this time, he wasn’t pushed away.

”It’s the teacher’s... arrangement for me to undergo a trial, letting me master the control of ’Taiyi’.” The Warlock sighed, explaining in a soft voice: ”The teacher reminded me that the ’cause and effect’ of Taiyi’s trial are quite heavy, possibly implicating you all with unnecessary cause and effect... You’re not a Big Wizard; bearing those causes and effects is dangerous.”

This explanation was similar to what the Elderly Ancestor at home said.

The Witch puffed her cheeks, feeling a bit dejected.

”...So, because I’m not a Big Wizard, you didn’t contact me. Does that mean you contacted the ’Big Wizard’?” She keenly picked up on the subtle details in the boy’s wording.

This was a deadly question.

Zheng Qing instantly shook his head like a rattle: ”No, absolutely not! Before meeting you, I didn’t contact anyone. I didn’t even call Xiao Bai once! Even that day during the hearing in Danghag, I didn’t talk to ’anyone else’!”

He emphasized the words ’anyone else’ with extra clarity.

So, he saw a fleeting trace of satisfaction in the Witch’s eyes.

This made him release a breath of relief.

”Meow?”

A familiar sound came from beside the boy’s feet, and he looked down to see a greyish Gouzi wagging its tail happily, circling around his feet.

It was Furry Bean.

Evidently, Zheng Qing’s mention of its name just now called it over.

”Furry Bean can testify! I haven’t seen it in two years!” Zheng Qing immediately pushed the dog towards the Witch.

”As if anyone cares,” the girl muttered, but her eyes still glanced at the dog.

The dog nodded solemnly: ”Meow!”

”—You two are just yakking idly; why are you here nosing around, single dog?” Yellow Flowered Cat appeared out of nowhere, grabbed Furry Bean by the ear, and dragged it away.

This dog, with Tendaros Hound bloodline, capable of escaping using space magic from any corner, had no power of resistance as it was dragged away by the legendary cat.

It didn’t even dare to whimper, just looked piteously at Zheng Qing. But Zheng Qing was too late to rescue it; on one hand, his instinct was warning him wildly, suggesting his troubles weren’t over, and on the other hand, he trusted that Yellow Flowered Cat wouldn’t really do anything to the dog.

Dong Dong!

Crash crash!

Boom boom!

Not far away, the Little White Cat still held a giant hammer, smashing around. Watching the stones and wood debris flying everywhere, Zheng Qing’s eye twitched.

”Umm,” he said, somewhat sheepishly pointing in the direction of the Little White Cat: ”Does she need a rest? I mean, that big hammer looks quite heavy... If she’s bored, maybe she can play with the Black Gem Cat.”

As he spoke, a Black Gem Cat had already peeked out from the hood, cutely meowing at the Witch.

”If she’s not smashing stones, should she smash your head?” The Witch glared at him, speaking crossly.

Zheng Qing blinked, not understanding the logic, looking somewhat confused: ”—Why smash my head?”

”Don’t I have any pride?”

Jiang Yu finally couldn’t hold back, clenched her small fist, and punched someone heavily on the shoulder, then lost control and punched a few more vicious times: ”—You disappeared silently for two years, making us a laughing stock, and now you ask why you’re getting hit?... Wait, where did you get so many Black Gem Cats? Which one is the gemstone I gave you?”

She warily glanced at Zheng Qing’s other shoulder.

There, three tiny black cat heads were stacked together, curiously looking at her.

The Little White Cat originally smashing stones also ran over with a hammer, glaring at the Warlock with disapproval, and the three little black cats on his shoulder.
