High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3006: Chapter 19: Structure of Order

”——Compared to the minor issue of ’titles,’ have you thought about how to construct your ’Order’?”

Master Bao Yangzi shifted the conversation, seemingly casually, but Zheng Qing clearly felt that the representatives from the other three institutions became noticeably more serious upon hearing this question.

”I haven’t developed a clear plan yet... Do you have any suggestions?”

The young dean remembered the parchment filled with dense ideas he had drafted but swallowed his words and humbly tossed the ball back to the elder wizard.

Bao Yangzi chuckled lightly: ”I’m not really suggesting anything, just sharing a bit of experience from working in the relevant departments which you might find useful.”

As he spoke, he raised three fingers.

”The main duties of the relevant departments are threefold: managing forbidden curses, researching forbidden curses, and confiscating illegal laboratories involving forbidden curses.”

He then folded his fingers one by one and analyzed carefully: ”——Managing forbidden curses is relatively simple. For instance, ’Buzhou’ manages the ’Wild’ and the ’Genesis’ two forbidden curses, so it has established the ’Wild’ and ’Genesis’ departments specifically to manage these two forbidden curses. The staff of these departments are comprised of Big Wizards practicing these two forbidden curses... Although the third-generation curses have evolved to require only nine Big Wizards for release, due to some historical reasons, the number of people in these departments is still relatively large... The specific number is confidential to each institution, and in the future, the number of people in your ’Order’ managing forbidden curses department doesn’t need to be disclosed to peer departments.”

He paused and gave the young wizard a meaningful glance.

Zheng Qing knew why the example of ’Buzhou’ was given. Eden and Babel each manage only one forbidden curse, while his new organization, much like Buzhou, needs to manage both ’Order’ and ’Nine Songs’ forbidden curses.

”——The second duty is researching forbidden curses, which involves setting up laboratories.”

Master Bao Yangzi continued: ”Regarding laboratory management, relevant departments draw from First University’s experience and are project-driven. That means a clear research project is needed before a laboratory can be established—only this way can funding be obtained from the school— similarly, since it’s project-driven, the laboratory will routinely close when the project ends. This means the number of laboratories each institution possesses is not fixed and can change annually, or even quarterly.”

”This doesn’t mean you can randomly set up laboratories without supervision or restriction.”

The vice mountain master from Buzhou interrupted Bao Yangzi’s speech: ”Generally, each forbidden curse can support one to three laboratory projects simultaneously. This is because the researchers involved in forbidden curse experiments are also part-time Big Wizards from the forbidden curse management departments. Setting up too many laboratories would seriously affect the standby state of forbidden curses, which relevant departments do not allow.”

Bao Yangzi did not express dissatisfaction with the rudeness of the vice mountain master and only supplemented after he stopped: ”——Of course, this doesn’t mean you can only apply for the establishment of three laboratories. Experiments are divided into ’theoretical laboratories’ and ’practice laboratories.’ The former conducts more theoretical basic research and consumes little, making applications easier. The latter involves experiments consuming large amounts of magic materials, so the review is relatively stringent.”

Additionally, laboratories can recruit current students directly from the school as researchers. Though this requires signing a series of very strict Silence Contracts, I believe any wizard would not refuse an employment invitation from the relevant department.

Then there’s the third duty: confiscating illegal laboratories involving forbidden curses. This falls under each institution’s strong departments, usually organized by standard Hunting teams of five people, with quantity varying as needed, without a fixed number. It’s crucial to note that members of this department have enforcement authority across the entire Alliance, with a priority higher than the Trident Sword, and even if conflicts with Danghag arise, it’s possible to handle them first according to our needs and then submit a foot-thick post-investigation report.”

Zheng Qing inexplicably felt that Xiao Xiao was well-suited for this role.

”Won’t the Alliance mind?”

The young wizard’s hands unconsciously rubbed his fingers within his sleeves, thinking about the term ’power in one’s grasp’ —with such a power-sharing beast in existence, no wonder neither the First University nor the Alliance openly addressed this institution.

”Of course, they mind.”

Babel’s deputy tower master, his tone as sharp as his youthful appearance, spoke with a hint of youthful vigor: ”But what can they do about it? The relevant departments don’t fall under Alliance management... More importantly, the Alliance also doesn’t want the dangerous concept of forbidden curses to be grasped by more dangerous individuals or organizations.”

”Comparatively, they prefer the conservative and steady First University.”

Master Bao Yangzi, smoothing things over, resumed advising the young man: ”——Besides the departments involved in the three main duties, you also need a library or archive room to manage various forbidden curse-related materials and books collected from inside and outside the school; a Monitoring Room to internally monitor the department’s wizards, preventing leaks or defections, as well as to externally monitor any corner of the wizard world you can touch, to promptly handle organizations or individuals conducting illegal experiments; a general office in charge of personnel management, logistical support, base operations, even medical and psychological counseling, etc.; and finally, an office responsible for daily affairs, secretarial work, and external liaison—I belong to the office of the relevant department, which has these corresponding departments outside your four institutions.”

He finally stopped.

This was his ’simple reference’ and ’bit of experience.’

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but smile bitterly inside at the structural details listed on his parchment. Without Bao Yangzi’s analysis, all his structure details had revolved around the excavation and research of ’Order’ and ’Nine Songs.’ He hadn’t considered he needed to extend his reach beyond the school.

”In short,” the young dean took a deep breath and summarized, ”I need to establish two forbidden curse management departments, two to six forbidden curse laboratories, at least one Hunting team, a library, a Monitoring Room, a general office, and an office... even calculating with the minimum number of people required...”

He lowered his head and silently calculated in his heart.

The seedling of Order was on him, and he could manage ’Order’ alone; similarly, managing ’Nine Songs’ involved ’Taiyi’ and ’Primordial,’ which ultimately meant he could manage it alone—or perhaps with some researchers from the Giant God Soldier Project Team?

For forbidden curse laboratories, he hadn’t decided on research directions yet. Su Shijun’s ’Dimension Evolution Laboratory’ and the evolution of Sprites seemed like good research directions, unsure if they could be incorporated into his ’Order,’ tentatively two;

One Hunting team requires five people; one library manager; the Monitoring Room requires internal and external sections; the general office at least one person, the office at least one person.

Then he raised his head and very seriously shook it: ”——I don’t have enough personnel, especially professional personnel involved in monitoring and comprehensive management.”
