High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3004: Chapter 17: Inside Wandering Bar

The commotion was outside.

It had nothing to do with the inside of the room.

The Black Wizards were taken away by the Law Enforcement Team from Edge Academy.

The guests also tactfully left the Wandering Bar, scattering like birds and beasts.

The Shadow Cat, along with the Green Robed Wizard who hadn’t spoken a word throughout, disappeared into the shadows again. Under the leadership of Xiao Xiao, Zheng Susu and the other hunters from the Yuzui Hunting Team returned to the second-floor loft of D&K.

Soon, only two witches were left in the empty bar.

Sitting across each other, separated by a high bar counter.

On the counter were two glasses of cocktails, both made with Amber Light as the base, mixed with Green Bee and Sea Monster Langmu’s gold-green-blue tricolored liquor. However, the one in front of Jiang Yu was the classic version, with a slice of lemon on the rim and an extra ice cube inside, while Su Shijun had twisted the lemon peel directly and decorated her glass with rosemary, and of course, added ice.

”—I think your glass would be more fitting with a dry rose.”

Jiang Yu glanced at Su Shijun’s glass, slightly shook her head, her tone devoid of any emotion, as if merely stating the facts: ”A rose flower suits your elegant, sweet temperament more.”

Of course, the dry rose represents ’giving up and the end of emotions’, while rosemary signifies ’faithful love’. Such small details were ’not within’ her consideration range.

”Rose or rosemary, to me, there’s not much difference really.” Su Shijun smiled faintly, casually removed her glasses, and the entire hall seemed to brighten up a bit: ”—But lemons, do you want to squeeze two more slices?”

Under absolute beauty superiority, the few momentum Jiang Yu had just gained from words instantly appeared pale and powerless.

She pursed her lips.

Striving to suppress the appreciation in her heart—after all, beauty is universally appreciated, and when beauty reaches a certain level, it naturally radiates a friendly aura, making it difficult to harbor malice even as enemies.

”—No need, thank you... what do you want from me?” Jiang Yu bravely faced the witch opposite her, her tone as calm as ever, although her expression was slightly stiff.

Originally, she planned to leave with the team just now, but unexpectedly, this Upper House Member of the Moon Council spoke up to keep her. As for such ’bustle’ at this level, whether it be the Shadow Cat or the other hunters from the Yuzui team, none were eager to stay and watch the show, each departed faster than the last.

Su Shijun did not immediately answer Jiang Yu’s question.

Instead, she fiddled with the piece of lemon peel devoid of juice, paused, and then countered: ”—Did you know he’s back? Well, you should know, I remember that day at the Danghag hearing, Zhongshan’s legend was also seated on the podium.”

Jiang Yu slightly frowned.

Uncertain of the significance of the Upper House Member mentioning this.

So she continued to remain silent.

”—He returned, yet didn’t go back to Greenhill Mansion, nor did he go to D&K or Zhongshan Mansion, why do you think that is?” Su Shijun glanced at the witch opposite her.

”Why?” Jiang Yu ultimately couldn’t hold back.

”I have a guess, take it for what it’s worth, just listen.”

The master of Greenhill Mansion chuckled lightly, not continuing to keep them guessing: ”I heard previously there was a witch who fell into a deep sleep after being severely injured and woke up... you know, Fox Five is the proprietor of D&K. Several years ago, someone arranged for him to hit tuning forks with a frequency of 528 Hertz daily at the entrance of San You Bookstore—this pertains to an obscure esoteric magic. The sound at 528 Hertz can awaken the spirituality of life, activate the magic power origin deep within life, promoting life’s transformation and evolution—anyway, sometime a year ago, or a few months ago? The specific moment is uncertain, Fox Five received a transmission from someone, telling him no need to hit the tuning fork anymore.”

The words spoken up to this point needed no further elaboration.

Su Shijun picked up her glass, took a sip at the front, relishing the lemon aroma spreading from her nose; the rich Amber Light tasted like ripe moonlight, carrying the slight coolness of Green Bee and the wildness of Sea Monster Langmu, all blooming at the tip of the tongue, taste and smell complementing, refreshing the mind, akin to dissolving into a dozen Clear Heart Symbols.

Jiang Yu’s gaze slightly blurred.

As if she returned to that Small World plagued by Satoguya, watching the Gypsy witch scream ’remember you promised me!’ in mid-air; watching the Gypsy witch fall to the muddy ground, hands intertwined, pressing against her forehead to pray softly; watching the tips of the Gypsy witch’s fingers grow a green shoot, keeping hundreds of leaves to hold the descending spirituality.

Watching her turn into a small tree.

A beauty like a snake, coiled amongst the tree trunk, her wine-red wavy long hair hung quietly. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Jiang Yu closed her eyes, and the last patch of that blinding white World seemed to appear before her again, stabbing her so she couldn’t open her eyes.

For a while.

She reopened her eyes.

Just like that day, after waking up returning to the peaceful Silent Forest, today upon opening her eyes, those images branded in her mind faded away, returning her to the Wandering Bar.

”So?” The young witch appeared exceptionally calm.

Su Shijun surprisingly put down her glass.

”You know the number of Legendary Wizards is definite right.”

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council weighed it, her fingers stroking the rim of the glass, speaking slowly: ”It’s like Forbidden Curses, there are only so many paths to achieving legend, but every path only one person reaches the end. Often, what determines whether you can continue is not persistence, opportunity, or some other cause, purely luck. If you find a path no one travels, however rugged, it is still a path leading to heaven. Conversely, if the road is crowded with many people, even if you remain focused, you might be unlucky and get pushed off track... In short, too crowded a road is never a good thing.”

”No need to say it so cryptically.”

Jiang Yu rudely smirked: ”It’s just the two of us here, there’s no need for that Noble Wizard spiel. I understand your meaning, but I think it’s irrelevant. Everyone has beautiful memories, but one cannot live in the past. Who he likes is his freedom, who I like is my freedom. He won’t interfere with me; I won’t interfere with him.”

Heh.

Su Shijun sighed softly: ”These words don’t sound like a wizard graduating from Jiuyou Academy, more like an Alpha person... Actually, for me, whether it’s an additional Gypsy witch or North District Grand-Wizard, it doesn’t make much difference. Poseidon and Great Elves ultimately stay at Greenhill Mansion. But for you, it’s not good news... merely, compared to them, I like you more; hence I spoke these idle talks today. It was unnecessary of me.”

As she spoke, she raised her glass.

Jiang Yu hesitated for a few seconds.

Also raised her glass gently clinking with Su Shijun.

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council gleamed a smile: ”—While drinking, don’t wear a stern face, it looks too dull. For us wizards born into a noble clan, life is a rigged competition. Since we stepped onto the stage, enjoy it some, don’t burnout yourself internally.”

Jiang Yu solemnly placed down the glass: ”I keep a stern face simply because overdoing it with expressions leads to wrinkles. My few advantages compared to you are just being younger by a couple of years... even though such advantage is minuscule, I’ll strive to keep it up too.”

Su Shijun hearing this, her smile vanished without a trace.
