High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3011: Chapter 24: Tonight’s Wind Is a Bit Noisy

The outside world was gradually getting late.

The Silent Forest was already engulfed by the night.

The pumpkin car, pulled by four fat mice, wobbled along the forest path surrounded by towering Return Soul Poplars and low bushes, creaking as it went. A few small orange lights peeked out from the small windows carved into the edges of the pumpkin car, creating a small patch of flickering light and shadow in the deep night.

Confused Tree Elves crawled out of their tree holes, nervously watching this giant pumpkin emitting a natural fragrance inside and out. They salivated at its scent while wondering why the big guys in the forest hadn’t torn it apart.

...

...

”—The monsters in the forest probably have never seen such audacious guests, so they’re a bit hesitant at the moment.”

At the Astronomical Tower of the First University, the dean of Jiuyou Academy stood with his hands behind his back, biting a pipe. He smiled as he gazed into the distance, with a few traces of nostalgia in his tone: ”Ah, the reckless abandon of youth.”

Not far from him.

Between the battlements of the Astronomical Tower.

Professor Yi of the Divination department was adjusting the eyepiece distance on a brass telescope. Hearing this, he snorted without looking up: ”Indeed, quite reckless... A few students stole the family’s pumpkin car and sneak into the depths of the Silent Forest. You as the dean are just watching the show, without a care for the students’ safety or the ’First University Management Regulations’, simply ridiculous!”

Puff—

Old Yao clicked his pipe.

He exhaled a puff of pale blue smoke.

”They didn’t steal the school’s pumpkin car,” he spread his hands, looking innocent: ”Besides, they are not students of Jiuyou Academy, what identity should I use to stop them from finding their parents? As for safety...”

He removed the pipe from his mouth, tapped out the residual ash inside, shaking his head: ”—Those little ones kissed by Fortuna, even if they were swept by the tail of a comet, they’d at most get mosquito bites. If you have the leisure, you’d better care more about Mars’s position.”

...

...

Crack!

A hideous dog’s head rolled into the dirt.

The Shadow Cat spat out the blood around its mouth, cursing as it kicked the headless Houdou in front of it into the bushes. A slight rustling sounded immediately, and in just a moment, gray-white corpse-eating beetles and pitch-black gold-eating ants devoured the Houdou clean to the bone.

Only a small patch of dark red remained in the dirt, marking its existence.

Swish!

A figure in a green robe silently appeared from the air, half-kneeling before the Shadow Cat, bowing his head to report: ”—The nearest two Ogre Tribes have already listened to our advice and initiated a curfew. They will not come out to hunt tonight.”

”Those stinking guys can actually understand human language?”

The Shadow Cat’s voice contained a trace of surprise and disappointment: ”I thought I could help clean up some pests in the forest tonight... If they don’t hunt, what will they eat? I remember that Ogres are not a race that preserves food.”

The Green Robed Wizard remained silent, not responding to Big Black’s complaints.

The Shadow Cat twitched its ears.

It leaped onto a nearby paulownia tree, squinting to observe the conspicuous orange light dot in the night sky, then looked up at the Gu Diao hovering in mid-air: ”—Tell the people from Edge Academy not to keep such a close watch! They need some hardship to learn a lesson... How far is the pumpkin car from Ziwei Palace?”

”At the current speed, it should take about half an hour to reach.” The Green Robed Wizard calculated quickly in his mind and responded.

”Ah, have to endure another half hour, bothersome, bothersome, there’s probably not even a pit on the road. How should I make them suffer?”

The Shadow Cat muttered and complained, its ears twitching slightly, and turned to look in another direction. Its previously lazy expression suddenly gained a hint of excitement: ”Ah! It’s actually a Raccoon Force? There are such rare things in the forest! Don’t fight with me! It’s mine!”

Before the words were finished, the black shadow vanished swiftly into the tree branches.

Almost simultaneously, the Green Robed Wizard also silently disappeared from under the tree.

...

...

”—The Raccoon Force just looks like a fox; it’s not a real fox.”

Su Shijun, with his hands behind his back, walked leisurely on the tracks left by the pumpkin car in the silent Silent Forest, unimpressed by the report from the Head Maid: ”... Besides, even if it were a real fox, this faction on Buji Island has little to do with our Qingqiu. No need to care about my opinion.”

”Yes, Miss.” Su Man answered, disappearing into the night with a flash of blue flame.

”Does your maid open tutoring classes? I’d like to send a few mice there for some training.”

A voice filled with envy sounded behind the Upper House Member of the Moon Council, sighing: ”—I wonder when I’ll have a subordinate like Sister Man.”

Su Shijun glanced sidelong at the pesky adhesive sticking to her, speaking irritably: ”Have your dad give those Mouse People some brain supplements first! They’re as dumb as can be, getting scared by a child and stupidly following them into the forest... Also, why have you suddenly gotten smaller again? Weren’t you normal just now?”

The lesser Zhu Si stumbled behind Su Shijun.

Upon hearing this, he sighed heavily, pulling at the heavy cloak dragging on the ground: ”How should I know? Maybe because the moon is too dim? Or you’re so good-looking that it made ’her’ close off.”

”If ’she’ is closed off, why follow me?”

”Why did you come to the forest?” Zhu Si countered.

”Of course, to catch those kids running away from home.” Su Shijun replied with a serious face.

The Little Witch rolled her eyes silently: ”Your kid abducted my first generation Mouse People; if I don’t follow you, should I follow that big idiot sent by Edge Academy?”

She pointed to the Gu Diao hovering in the sky.

Su Shijun couldn’t help but laugh: ”Be careful if Korma hears you, she’ll give you a flick on the head. No one’s going to help you then. From what I know, your dad treated her like half a daughter all these years...”

”She can’t control me!”

Zhu Si huffed in annoyance but suddenly remembered something, jogging a few steps to catch up to Su Shijun, grinning mischievously: ”Say, don’t you want to hurry up? From what I know, the Yuzui Hunting Team is having night drills tonight, they’ve already brought the Hunters into the forest... If you continue to trail so slowly behind the pumpkin car, you might not get the chance to break down the door.”

”Break down the door? What reason does she have to break down the door? Could it be that the prey the Hunting Team is chasing got lost in Ziwei Palace?” The Moon Council’s Upper House Member pouted with a hint of disdain in her tone.

Nevertheless.

Her pace unconsciously quickened a bit.
