High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1446: Chapter 190: The Purpose of Furry Bean

”Furry Bean?”

A surprised voice echoed in the self-study room.

Zheng Qing looked at Grey Pup that appeared squatting beside his feet, somewhat unexpectedly.

There was nothing around Furry Bean, no snake molt or demon corpse as the male witch had anticipated.

Hearing the warlock’s call, Grey Pup was stunned for a few seconds before realizing Zheng Qing was addressing it and immediately wagged its tail. Zheng Qing then remembered that when he and his roommates were naming the dog, it was out chasing the No Face snake and wasn’t present.

”From now on, your name is Furry Bean, got it?”

The dog, with its tongue out, cheerfully nodded its head.

Zheng Qing squatted down contentedly and began to introduce his companions to Furry Bean: ”The short one wearing black-rimmed glasses and a Watermelon Head is Doctor; the tall and chubby one holding a Feather Pen, always eating something, is Fatso; and that one, the skinny and tall girl with the ponytail, is Nicolas... Don’t bother the Little Witch who is sleeping, she’ll pull your tail, but the plush bear she’s using as a pillow is actually a nice toy, you can later use it for sparring.”

The plush bear swung its paws furiously, protesting the warlock’s prejudiced and misleading statement.

With each introduction, Grey Pup nodded seriously, much like a primary school student in class.

”Lucky for you, Li Meng is asleep, otherwise she’d be fighting you tooth and nail,” Fatso muttered, his voice muffled with pastry in his mouth: ”Also, Furry Bean, that plush bear is not your toy... If you wreck it, your master can’t afford the damages.”

”Meow~” Gouzi softly and tenderly responded.

Fatso couldn’t help but shiver.

”No matter how many times I hear it, I can’t get used to its voice,” he touched the goosebumps on his arms and couldn’t help but say to Zheng Qing: ”Can’t you make it change the way it barks? It’s a dog, not a cat!”

The young scholarship student ignored Fatso’s snide comment.

”...There are a few more companions that aren’t here at the moment, we can introduce you later.” After finishing the introductions, Zheng Qing felt his legs getting numb from squatting, so he simply sat cross-legged on the floor and reached out to pet Furry Bean’s head: ”I’m done talking, your turn. Why did you come back suddenly? Weren’t you supposed to catch the No Face snake? Did you forget its scent?”

Upon hearing Zheng Qing mention Liu Fei Fei’s pet, Nicolas finally put down the Law book, stuffed back the frog he had just picked up into the bamboo basket, and looked down at the grey dog.

Furry Bean neatly sat opposite to Zheng Qing, its tail swinging back and forth, constantly meowing.

Zheng Qing listened, nodding his head repeatedly, occasionally showing a sudden look of realization.

His companions watched, eyes wide in disbelief.

”Since when did you learn to understand feline and canine language?” Xin Fat Man grasping his Feather Pen, pointed it directly at Zheng Qing, his voice filled with amazement.

Xiao Xiao also adjusted his glasses and looked over seriously.

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes at them, sporting a grin of mischief triumphant.

”Just kidding.” He laughed exaggeratedly, then satisfyingly patted Furry Bean’s head. Grey Pup looked at this inexplicably joyful scene before it, utterly confused.

Li Meng was startled awake by the laughter in the self-study room once again.

”Can’t you let a person sleep in peace!” She complained loudly, vigorously kneading the plush bear in her arms. The plush bear bit its lip, its eyes watery, glaring resentfully at the noisy warlocks.

Zheng Qing apologetically waved towards her: ”Sorry, we’ve got a little visitor... Come, say hello to this miss!”

Grey Pup stood bipedal, clasped its paws, greeted Li Meng with a bow, and meowed twice.

The Little Witch rubbed her eyes, her gaze suddenly gleaming, she leaped from the leather chair towards Grey Pup, pressing down on its head: ”Where did this dog come from... Is it the one my sister told me about? I heard you can perform Escape Techniques on campus, is that true?”

Furry Bean’s head shrank back warily, trying hard to avoid the Little Witch’s claw. The plush bear hung quietly behind Li Meng, smiling maliciously at Grey Pup.

Zheng Qing looked at the scene with a smile, then stood up as the smile on his face gradually faded.

”What did it just say?” Xiao Xiao leaned in and asked quietly.

Xin Fat Man raised his eyebrows: ”Didn’t it just say that he can’t understand the language of cats and dogs... Wasn’t that a joke?”

Zheng Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth, offering no defense.

He indeed did not understand the language of cats and dogs.

But perhaps due to his years of dealing with cats, dogs, and foxes, or perhaps the effect of the comprehensive formation enveloping Buji Island, or maybe because Furry Bean possessed a talent akin to ’mind reading’, in any case, he hadn’t spent much effort when he understood the message Furry Bean wanted to convey:

The owner of that snake molt, it had already found her;

But she was not a snake, and she had other companions, a very formidable demon, and they were recruiting tribes of magical creatures in Silent Forest, already possessing a powerful pack of beasts;

They were currently in Silent Forest, but also not within Silent Forest;

Because they had now entered the mirror.

For an ordinary wizard, the World in the Mirror was indeed dangerous, but if one cleverly utilized the properties of the World in the Mirror, a wizard could have infinite assistants and avoid being detected by others.

Furry Bean, during the tracking process, discovered that the two demons were multiplying and their scent was getting weaker. At this moment, although it was still following the two demons, it could not tell when it might completely lose track of them.

Therefore, it ran back anxiously, seeking Zheng Qing’s advice.

The Furry Bean crouching in front of everyone now was just one of its many clones.

Zheng Qing briefly introduced everything he understood with a few words.

The study room was silent, the warlocks pondering the information they heard, while the little witch tried to flatten Furry Bean’s ears, attempting to make it perform ”airplane ears”.

In the silence, the door to the study room was pushed open with a whoosh from the outside.

Jiang Yu and Liu Fei Fei each carried a bamboo basket as they walked in.

”Frogs for Nicolas?” Zheng Qing, with sharp eyes, saw a slimy, colorful long leg sticking out between the gaps of the bamboo basket in Jiang Yu’s arms.

”Fifi has arranged a series of review plans for him. I guess the previous frogs aren’t enough, so we caught some more.” Jiang Yu placed the bamboo basket on the floor, took a deep breath, pushed aside the long hair dangling by her ear, and wiped the fine sweat from her forehead.

Li Meng pushed away the dog in front of her and jumped up.

”Cousin, I was just memorizing the text... it was Zheng Qing who brought his dog here, making it impossible for me to study!” She was the first to complain, striving for the moral high ground. The plush bear stood by its little owner’s side, hands on its hips, gesticulating to indicate that everything the little witch said was correct.

The young public cost student shrugged his shoulders, tacitly taking the blame.

Jiang Yu tugged at the corner of her mouth, revealing a bitter smile.

Then she saw Furry Bean.

”How did it get here?”

The witch’s tone revealed a hint of surprise: ”Didn’t you ask it to help Fifi find that pet snake? Did it find it?”

Thud!

The bamboo basket in Liu Fei Fei’s arms was placed heavily on the floor, she stood up straight, her face showing an expression intertwined with surprise and sorrow. In the basket, a few frog legs stretched out from the holes, touching the faint sense of freedom outside the basket as it vibrated.
