High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1432: Chapter 179 Reinforcements

This is a tug-of-war of spectacular scale.

The location of the tug-of-war is in the sky; on one side is a massive hand emerging from the void, and on the other, a blue Great Kun swimming out from the Tower.

The rope used for the contest is twisted from spatial vortices, invisible and without substance, yet even more durable than any tangible rope.

The gusts whipped up by the fish fins and the massive hand howled, slashing in all Eight Directions, turning trees and houses within hundreds of meters to dust under this violent breath. Terrifying heatwaves flowed from that spatial vortex rope, as if to melt the entire World.

The Array of the Land of Desolation was activated once more.

Invisible ripples surged again, the rope connecting, the great net unfolding to bind the blue fish and lift it upwards.

In the center of the net, the Great Kun enveloped by the Array and the spatial vortex rope finally dissipated the swirling blue tide around it, revealing translucent skin; one could faintly see the blood flowing beneath the fish skin, its bones, and that indistinct Cloak.

The losing Great Kun fell silent for a second.

Then it constricted inward.

Its body visibly contracted.

A hint of blue essence appeared at the core of the contraction, followed by a destructive aura that began to spread outward from that point of blue essence.

”It’s going to self-destruct...”

In the Mage tower, an Old Witch Demon exclaimed, but before it could finish speaking, Ulysses gave a cold snort and glanced at the Old Witch Demon.

The Old Witch Demon instantly turned into a stone statue, with an expression of terror still etched on its face.

The Duke returned his gaze to the sky.

After the destructive aura surrounding the Great Kun spread out, it finally broke free from the binds of the spatial vortex rope and appeared outside the battlefield, radiating in all directions with the brilliance of a Supernova explosion.

Nikita was suddenly startled.

Because at the moment the ’Supernova’ exploded, deep within her Soul, she faintly heard a long chant like the singing of whales. That chant contained so many emotions and messages that her brain couldn’t parse the information instantly, resulting in a brief blank.

The blue essence was fleeting.

But that soul-deep chant broke through the heavens, shattering the seal over this part of the heavens created by the descent of the massive hand.

The gray sky, which had been stripped of clouds, Sun, and starlight, tore open a small hole with that chant, revealing a speck of starlight.

That speck of starlight seemed slow but was actually swift, passing through the small hole and landing on the forehead of the Great Kun.

The blue essence of the Great Kun came to an abrupt halt, but its call suddenly became joyful, a thrill arising from the depths of its heart, clearly palpable to Nikita from afar—that was the joy of escaping the brink of Death and being reborn. Just like when she had her first taste of Wizard’s blood in the desert.

Ulysses did not possess the sentimental and sensitive emotions of the little Female Demon beside him.

His face was somewhat somber.

Because after that speck of starlight fell on the fish head, the Great Kun’s form and aura immediately became lighter. Even the tightly coiled spatial vortex rope seemed unable to contain its shape.

Like flying from the wall of a tornado into its eye, the Great Kun escaped the destiny of being swept away by the current.

Then it raised its head, screeching once more.

In the midst of the screeching, the blue Great Kun underwent a shocking transformation.

Its fish head gradually shrank, its body became slender instead of round, the fins on both sides grew even wider, exceeding the length of its body, and the Runes on the fish skin that shimmered with starlight morphed into feathers before everyone’s eyes.

Nikita immediately realized she was witnessing a rare moment of Magic.

She saw the transformation of a Great Kun into a Giant Peng.

Just as unicorns rarely give birth in front of wizards and giant dragons resist onlookers while hatching their eggs, the transformation of Kun into Peng is also a very famous yet rarely witnessed scene in the Wizard World. Even in the long history of magic, there are but a few wizards who have been fortunate enough to record this spectacle.

In the end, the Land of Desolation is the domain of Witch Demons.

Witch Demons are demons that have fallen from being wizards.

Before becoming demons, they too were wizards, who knew the legend of the Kun and Peng and had hoped to transform themselves from a small fish into a great Peng. However, they failed in the process and became broken-winged birds instead.

In the Mage Tower, the restless aura of the Witch Demons fell silent for a moment when the Great Peng appeared. Even Sir Ulrich’s eyes became briefly absent-minded.

That newly transformed Big Bird would not take notice of the enemy’s mistake.

It spread its wings wide, flapped them forcefully, and shot up into the sky. It soared upward, passing through the gaps of spatial vortexes, disappearing into the void in the blink of an eye.

That massive hand lingered in the air for a moment.

Then it turned into layers of dark clouds and disappeared without a trace once again.

Nikita quietly closed her eyes, bowed her head, and transformed back into a quail.

A group of young wizards invaded the territory of the Witch Demons, causing chaos, then turned into a big fish and slipped away. Neither the domain of the Great Demons nor the Arrays of the Land of Desolation, nor even Sir Ulrich, who returned to his original form and tried to catch it with his massive hand, could keep that big fish.

This was a spectacular disgrace for the Land of Desolation.

What was worse, the Mist Captain, a Big Sea Monster, witnessed this event.

The Female Demon began to worry if the Witch Demons would kill to silence the witnesses.

...

The big fish turned into a bird and broke free into the sky.

The Land of Desolation fell silent.

The Old Witch Demons, who were previously causing havoc in the hall, only then realized the presence of two Great Demons upstairs. They bowed down, bracing themselves for the wrath of the Great Demons.

Sir Ulrich finally stepped out from that dark shadowy barrier.

He walked slowly towards the Bronze Cauldron in front of the black wall, his staff tapping on a piece of skull fragment on the step with a crisp crack.

The Old Witch Demon slowly approached the black wall.

He looked down at what seemed like snow-white ash at his feet.

These were the last remnants in this world of the souls that just had been saved by those wizards. The Mist Captain, with Nikita, emerged from the swirling white fog, coming next to Sir Ulrich, and he looked at the bare black wall with some sentiment, shaking his head with a light sigh, without speaking.

But Sir Ulrich had something to say:

”You did not persuade me... but they persuaded me for you.”

The Great Witch Demon twirled a pinch of pure white ash between his fingers, with a melancholic tone: ”This is the head of my most beloved little wizard... Her soul has been screaming on this black wall for over a hundred years... Every time I hear her screaming, my body shivers with delight. Even after over a hundred years, I have not grown tired of her voice.”

”But now, I can no longer hear it.”

”They destroyed one of the few hobbies I had.”

”So I agree to help you... but you must allow me to pick a suitable skull from the school as compensation.”

The Mist Captain smiled contentedly, his voice as gentle as ever: ”Why settle for one? The entire university will be open to you... You can choose any collection you like.”

Nikita’s face turned somewhat pale.

Shivering all over.
