High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1430: Chapter 177: One Fish

The snow-white blade light illuminated the entire hall.

It was like lightning in the night sky, piercing through the Old Witch Demon’s foggy mind.

Indeed, what did it matter if it was just bait? Whether it eats or not, these Young Wizards are right before its eyes. At this moment, if it continues to hesitate, these little baits are about to get away.

The blade light closed in within the Old Witch Demon’s thoughts, aiming straight for the black wall behind it.

The Old Witch Demon slowly turned its neck, as if to catch a glimpse of that streak of blade light.

”Look here!”

The burly Hunting Team Leader bellowed. His muscles swelled even larger as his iron-black fist, following his roar, broke through the heavy air and forcefully smashed towards Ulysses’ head.

The murky air mixed with the forceful punch became particularly sticky, as if turning into a pool of glue, slowing Ulysses’ movement as he tried to turn his head.

It was just by an instant.

And at that instant.

The blade light grazed past the ear of the Old Witch Demon and struck the black wall.

A halo rippled across the wall, unscathed, not even a chip of paint fell off; however, the Bronze Cauldron beneath the wall let out an angry buzzing sound.

Because of the Bronze Cauldron’s long stewed spoils of war, those skulls hanging on the wall shattered.

Everyone in the hall heard the sound of ceramics breaking. It was a sound that panicked all. If one stood outside the Mage tower, they could even see that certain stars in the Deeps of Starry Sky momentarily shone brighter.

The hundreds of Wizard skulls hanging on the black wall, under that blade light, broke in unison, and with a crisp cracking sound, ceased their sway.

They paused for a moment.

Then turned into dust.

The fine bone ash followed the rough wall, slowly falling down.

Like a gray waterfall.

Or like the curtain of an era coming down.

The freed souls let out satisfied sighs before dissipating, and everyone in the hall heard their blessings and curses. Blessings to the Hunters who saved them, wishing them a safe return home; curses to all Witch Demons, that they never find salvation.

The Mist Ship’s Captain held his arms, a faint inscrutable smile on his lips, quietly watching the scene unfold before him, seemingly with no intention to intervene.

Ulysses did not want the Captain to intervene either.

For that would be the disgrace of the entire Land of Desolation.

He stopped his attempt to look back at the black wall, slowly turned his neck, and looked at the Hunting Team Leader who had just delayed his movements, staring at the approaching fist up close.

”Seeking death.”

He said calmly.

The Hunting Team Leader’s full-force roar was the response: ”Overturning Heaven Seal!”

Just like moments ago, when stopping those ’old monkeys,’ it was the same fist emanating a faint black glow, the same fist that shattered the layers of air, the same growing and intensifying momentum swirling around the fist, the same progressively darker energy, the fist getting bigger and bigger.

The only difference was the target.

The fist previously smashed against a group of frail, old Registered Wizards, epitomizing the adage ’fists fear the vigor of youth’, where the wind of the punches turned those Old Witch Demons into a mess of blood and flesh, bones and muscles turned to mud.

And now, the target of this fist is a Big Wizard.

A Great Witch Demon whose fame in the Dark World is resounding, and earsplitting in the Wizard World. Indeed, most of Ulrich The Duke’s reputation is linked to his research in nefarious magics, and he has aged significantly, his physical condition potentially on the decline. To confront this elder with bare fists seems a bit like the front chariot horses challenging the rear ones.

But the reason they are known as Great Witch Demons is precisly because they are ’great’, encompassing enough to tolerate any change, any enemy.

At the first moment of the enemy’s intrusion into the Mage Tower, two Great Demons clad themselves in layers of protection.

A thin veil of mist began to envelop the Mist Captain.

Around Ulrich The Duke swirled a tide of shadows, emerging from the black wall behind him. In theory, as long as the Mage Tower remained intact, that shadow could not be broken.

However, just a moment ago, the knife light of another young Hunter had cleaved onto the black wall, fracturing the hanging skulls and provoking the Bronze Cauldron to a furious rage, causing a momentary tremor in the black wall.

And right at that tremor, the Hunting Team Leader’s fist came crashing down.

The front of the fist plunged into the shadow.

Just like a stone dropping into water.

The difference was, when this fist hit those Old Witch Demons earlier, it was like Mount Tai falling into a clear lake, earth-shattering, with water surging on all sides; whereas when this fist fell into that shadow, it was like a huge mountain dropping into the ocean. Although it also stirred a sky-high surge, the ocean was simply too vast, and even the highest of waves appeared merely as a small splash in front of it.

If the camera were more precise, one would see the shadowy tide ripple under the front of the fist, like ripples caused by stones dropping into a pond, interweaving, spreading, undulating back and forth, the tumultuous punch strength dissolving as forces interacted with each other.

The black shadow under the fist front caved inwards, and those undulating ripples got stretched by the concaving force, elongating, thinning out, like elastic bands.

Through it all, Ulrich The Duke just blandly watched that fist.

Without shifting a step, his expression unchanging.

In contrast, the owner of the fist, after the front of it entered the shadow, his expression drastically altered, his originally reddish complexion quickly drained of color, revealing shades of dark:

”Run!!”

He bellowed.

The whole Hunting Team, like a clamp triggered to close, instantly huddled together, taking positions according to the Quadrilateral Star formation. In the center of the Quadrilateral Star, was the Little Witch, who had been hiding beneath her cloak from the start—since Ulrich The Duke set his sights on these ’little baits’, she didn’t even show her head, her entire face hidden beneath the cloak.

”Are we done fighting? Is it over yet? I’m going to sleep now... I can’t hold back anymore!”

Hiding under her cloak, the Little Witch shivered while incessantly murmuring to herself.

Until the Team Leader roared ’run’, she closed her eyes, stretching her legs, and with that heavy cloak over her, she fell into a deep sleep in the blink of an eye, sinking into profound slumber.

A pale blue light shield emerged alongside her breathing, surrounding her.

At first, it took the shape of a regular sphere.

Then, as the Little Witch’s eyes roved beneath her eyelids, that orderly blue orb began to undulate irregularly, like a larva breaking free from its cocoon, slowly growing a head, wings, fins, a tail, and ever more intricate runes over its surface.

It seemed like a long time had passed.

But it was actually just an instant.

A large blue fish then appeared before all eyes, materializing in this World populated with Witch Demons.
