High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1428: Chapter 175: After Smashing

Time, in that instant, seemed to come to a standstill.

The shattered skull of the Old Witch Demon, the bone bowl crashing onto the floor, the bright red liquid floating in mid-air, the Wizard revealing a brilliant smile after lifting his hood, the glowing Law book, the rumbling thunder, and most importantly, Ulysses and the Captain of the Mist Ship turning their heads together to look towards the entrance of the room.

Two Great Demons, four gazes heavy as Mount Tai, instantly plunging the whole room into deathly silence.

The attackers, who had suddenly emerged, were like insects trapped in amber, slowly struggling under the thick presence of the Great Demons. Everything around them lost its color in this instant, leaving only black and white. Nikita felt as if she was watching a slow-motion silent film, where everything was absurdly quiet and faintly ridiculous.

It was like a dream.

No, even dreams were never this bad.

The young Female Demon could not have imagined that in the Land of Desolation, the largest gathering place of Witch Demons, they would be suddenly attacked by Wizards.

Of course, she was not the only one who felt that the situation was terrible.

The Hunting team that had burst into the second floor of the Mage Tower also found the situation slightly beyond their expectations.

Ding!

A silver bean the size of a peanut slipped from the Witch’s palm, landing on the soft carpet, yet making a crisp sound as if it had hit a glass bowl. Accompanied by this crisp sound, a dazzling silver halo flashed suddenly, breaking the control domain of the two Great Demons.

The Wizards regained the ability to move.

The black and white faded, and the lost colors returned to their respective owners.

The scenery in the room immediately became vivid.

”Damn it!”

The robust Warlock ripped off the cloak on his body and, along with the two small legs in his arms, threw it onto the ground while shouting, ”How could that old fogey of Mist be on Witch Demon territory! Wasn’t it said that today we only have the old bastard Ulysses?”

The two little legs quickly withdrew into the cloak. A conspicuous yet inconspicuous bump rose on the soft carpet, shivering with the Warlock’s roar.

After the roar, the Warlock took a deep breath, his figure suddenly bulking up.

Originally, the Warlock was 1.89 meters tall and muscular. After bulking up again, his height shot up to nearly three meters, and his broad robe became tight against his bulging muscles, looking like a small vest. Even his body hair became much thicker. Standing at the forefront of the Hunting team, he exuded a ferocious aura, like a wild beast bursting out from ancient times.

The gazes of the two Great Demons were immediately drawn to this Warlock.

Following the Warlock’s outburst, the teammates who followed closely behind also started to rip off their cloaks.

There was a young man with a black, straight hunting outfit and a Japanese sword; a stout dwarf wearing heavy leather armor, hugging an Alchemy Device resembling a gatling gun; and a Witch with wide robes and flowing skirts, who kept her eyes closed from beginning to end, her body floating in mid-air, without touching the ground.

”Pah, I said that the guy surnamed Zhou would trick us, and you still didn’t believe it.” The dwarf with the gatling gun spat heavily on the luxurious carpet and started to crank the handle on the gun, ”...You dared to believe his plan?! I must’ve drank too much barley beer to be believing in your nonsense!”

The young man in the hunting outfit and the Witch with wide robes remained silent. However, the young man slowly placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, while the Witch opened the Law book in her arms.

”Yin Qilei!”

With a light shout, the Law book burst forth with thousands of beams of light. In a blink of an eye, the sound of thunder like popping beans erupted, drowning the entire hall in an electrical storm.

It’s just like how a bolt from the blue strikes while one sits comfortably at home. The old Witch Demons, originally lounging on the second floor, sipping wine and dozing off, were slow to react. One thunderstorm after another blinded them; many were bombarded into a daze with scorched faces before they could even draw their Law books.

Some quick-reacting old Witch Demons, however, had already swapped their wine cups for Magic Wands.

”Secret Sword·Iaido!”

The young Swordsman called out softly, his long blade drawing half an inch from its sheath, a flashing glint lighting up half the room. In the next instant, the blade had returned to its sheath, the Swordsman standing still as if he’d never moved. Yet the old Witch Demon opposite him, who had just lifted his bone wand, found both his wand and head evenly sliced into dozens of pieces.

Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat!

The Dwarf’s machine gun roared into life, accompanied by the crass curses of the little guy, pushing the atmosphere in the grand hall to a climax.

...

...

Nikita stood behind the tutor and captain, cautiously poking her head out to observe the reckless Hunting team.

It was evident that this was a well-coordinated, well-equipped Hunting team, likely with some reputation in the New World. Their only flaw was being too young. Even with the muscular Warlock leader at full energy, he was only at the level of a top-tier Registered wizard.

The Female Demon doubted whether this Hunting team had come looking for trouble.

But it didn’t make sense to seek trouble and end up under the wheels.

Indeed, the Old Witch Demons on the second floor were all just a bunch of Registered wizards tormented by their own spirits and weakened in combat. Plus, as the saying goes, the vigor of youth is to be feared. Underprepared, the Old Witch Demons could not harness even half of their combat strength. The youthful, top-tier Registered wizards might have the upper hand against these tired olds.

But that was all.

Because today’s second floor did not just house those Old Witch Demons.

There were also two Great Demons—the Captain of the Mist Ship and Ulysses.

Going up against two Great Demons, the Female Demon did not believe those young Little wizards would stand a chance to escape with their lives.

What a pity, she thought, eyeing the handsome face of the young Swordsman, silently mourning those beautiful eyes for half a second. To the Demons, pretty faces were varied, but all eyes uniformly shared a crimson hue.

...

...

Unlike the Female Demon’s simplistic thinking, the two Great Demons’ first reaction upon encountering the ambush was not to capture the reckless Little wizards.

It was cautious defense and investigation.

A thin layer of Mist began to surround the Captain of the Mist Ship, enveloping both him and Nikita. It was a magic infused with the essence of space and time. Although they seemingly stood still, close at hand, any magic attack entering the Mist would vanish into a void.

Sir Ulrich closed his eyes and connected his Divine Thought with the Guardian spirit of the Mage tower. His spiritual power fully unleashed, he searched and investigated the entire Land of Desolation. Unlike the Mist Captain, there was no thin Mist around him, but from the black walls gushed a flood of shadows. These shadows swirled around the Old Witch Demon like a tide, silently lapping, swallowing any magic fluctuations that dared to come close without permission.

Plus, driven by some secretive considerations, the two Great Demons quietly moved a bit apart from each other.
