High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1408: Chapter 155 The Hot Potato

”Wow, wow, that’s really something.”

Xin Fat Man raised his hands up high, trying to be friendly to ’those’ dogs in front of him while he stepped back, half a body behind Zheng Qing: ”I was just trying to lift Tuan Tuan off that guy’s face... Tuan Tuan?”

As Banna backed away, those dogs that had just appeared ’poofed’ away, vanishing on the spot. It was clear that summoning each additional dog was a heavy burden for him.

On the other side.

Hearing Xin Fat Man’s shout, Fat Cat’s ears twitched. He reluctantly turned Half-Face to glance at the young wizards who had just entered the room and let out a perfunctory grunt from his throat.

”What are you doing? Why are you squatting on his face?” Fat Man gestured again, trying to get Fat Cat off the wizard’s head so everyone could get a clear look at him.

Fat Cat hesitated for a few seconds, the tail that had been curled up relaxed and revealed the unfamiliar wizard’s mouth.

Then that mouth was about to instinctively open.

But immediately, Fat Cat’s relaxed tail snapped down, smacking his mouth fiercely to make sure no Spell could be sung. The mouth let out a humiliated growl under the smacks of the cat’s Tail.

Zheng Qing subconsciously touched his own cheek, very thankful for Fat Cat’s usual friendliness.

”Poor thing.” The young publicly funded student muttered, looking around for a lighter topic. Then he spotted Dylan’s black Coffin: ”Where’s Dylan? Strangers have come to the dorm, why hasn’t he said a word?”

”He must have gone to class by now... I bet your dog only chooses to come in when the dorm is empty.”

”This early?” Zheng Qing glanced outside. It was indeed dark already: ”It’s not even nine o’clock...”

”He needs to review his lessons just like anyone else,” Fat Man said, sarcastically: ”Don’t think that students from Starry Sky Academy or Atlas don’t need exams... It’s just that the emphasis is different. Our academy also values Practice scores, you know.”

Fat Cat let out an impatient growl.

The young wizards stopped talking all at once.

”We have a Suppression Symbol, how about... you take a break?” The young publicly funded student took out a stack of Talisman paper, inquiring tentatively. Fat Cat eyed the papers, tilting his head as if to urge the Warlock to hurry up.

Zheng Qing beckoned a few Sprites over, then had them hold the Talisman papers and stick them in the designated positions. After making sure they were correct, he pinched the Hand Jue.

Pale yellow halos surged from the papers, connecting like chains, binding the unfamiliar warlock firmly to the ground.

When a piece of paper was also stuck by the warlock’s mouth, Fat Cat then gracefully stood up, walked over to Gouzi, and lifted his paw.

Gouzi, with his tongue sticking out, sat up and also lifted his paw.

A cat and a dog pawed at each other, looking nonchalant.

Zheng Qing and Xin eyed each other, wondering since when did these two get along so well?

Just then, a surprised voice from Xiao Xiao rang through the room:

”Professor Trudeau?”

...

...

Professor Trudeau is a handsome warlock who usually dresses in a delicately thin, moon-white robe, with a pair of shiny little mustaches. He is quite popular among the witches.

He is an Honorary Member of the Wizard Council and the Director of the Anti-Curse Research Department at First University. He wrote a best-selling book titled ”Days Dancing with Dragons”, and of course, more importantly, he was the holder of the Great Arcana ’World’ title from 2006 to 2008.

But now, the professor had lost his usual suavity and dashing appearance.

His black wizard’s robe was covered in dust, as well as a few suspicious, oddly-scented, brownish stains. His neat hair was in utter disarray, and his shiny little mustache had become askew. All this had rendered his once handsome face much more fierce-looking.

But this fierceness didn’t detract from his looks.

With Fat Cat no longer blocking the view, the face of the wizard pressed against the floor came into sight. Xiao Xiao easily recognized that he was Professor Trudeau.

Seeing Zheng Qing somewhat puzzled, the Doctor quickly explained the professor’s identity to him in a few words.

Causing much astonishment.

Zheng Qing immediately recalled the professor’s identity and had some vague speculations about why this professor was sneaking around his Cat Fruit Tree—when he had just received the Great Arcana ’World’ title last year, there were rumors that the professor wanted to challenge him to a duel, which for various reasons never happened.

From this point of view, Professor Trudeau held the ’World’ title in high regard.

”Maybe he found out from somewhere that you are the Black Cat on the Cat Fruit Tree, so he tampered with the tree,” Xiao Xiao analyzed simply: ”It might be some little curse to bring you bad luck, or he might want you to remain a cat forever... If you became a cat, the ’World’ title would automatically return to him.”

”For that?!” Zheng Qing looked incredulous: ”Just for a bit of false reputation!”

”People live their lives, and most of it is indeed spent in pursuit of that bit of false reputation,” Xin Fat Man seemed to understand such choices: ”And sometimes fame is not just empty... it comes with genuine benefits. You’re still a student, and those businessmen and societies won’t easily approach you for tasks, but believe me, if you step out of the university gates, a Great Arcana title carries a heap of shiny jade coins.”

”If he really wants it, I could just give him the ’World’ title!”

”Is ’Magic Wand’ published by your family?”

”Don’t stray so far off topic.” Xiao Xiao, somewhat annoyed, interrupted the debate between the two companions, reminding: ”Let’s deal with the current mess... What should we do now?”

The room suddenly fell into silence.

Looking at the professor lying on the floor, furious yet unable to speak, anyone knew that simply letting him go was not a wise decision.

But to continue suppressing him indefinitely was also inappropriate.

A hot potato, indeed.

Moreover, if they had caught Professor Trudeau red-handed messing with the Cat Fruit Tree, Zheng Qing and the others would have had a reason to ’suppress’ the professor. But now, it was a dog of unknown identity that was dragged from the professor’s laboratory or bedroom.

No matter how you think about it, it’s hard to provide a reasonable explanation to the school.

Should Zheng Qing admit to the school that he was simply seizing an opportunity to test a theory?

Recently, the school had stressed again and again that students were not allowed to perform magical experiments without the school’s permission—this was the aftermath of Sister Korma’s incident. In a sense, Zheng Qing’s action of sending Gouzi to capture someone also falls under the category of a magical experiment.

This was a violation of the school’s explicitly prohibition rules.

And the current outcome was also hair-pulling.

To put it lightly, they were responsible for orchestrating an attack on a professor of the school; to put it gravely, they had colluded with forces from the Deeps of Starry Sky, posing a huge threat to school security.

Zheng Qing was already on school probation, and he certainly didn’t want to get expelled from school right before finals over such an unlucky incident.
