Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1855 - 1644: Incursio’s quality time

Incursioʼs journey back to the fortress took her through bustling towns and peaceful villages, places she rarely took time to explore. But now, with the weight of recent battles pressing down on her, she felt an unusual pull to slow down, to tend to herself in ways she had always dismissed as unnecessary. After days of pushing her body to its limits, she decided to indulge in a few luxuries—to heal, not just her body but her mind.

Her first stop was a renowned inn nestled in the mountains, famous for its skilled masseuses and natural hot springs. As she entered, the soft lighting and warm scents of lavender and chamomile enveloped her, creating a tranquil atmosphere that instantly put her at ease. She was led to a private room, dimly lit and heated with a gentle warmth. The masseuse, a kindly woman with years of experience, instructed Incursio to lie down on the plush massage table, and soon began working on the tense muscles of her shoulders and back.

At first, Incursio tensed, unused to the feeling of someone elseʼs hands moving across her body. But as the masseuseʼs skilled fingers kneaded and pressed, loosening the tight knots of muscle formed from countless battles, she slowly began to relax. Each press and roll of the masseuseʼs hands seemed to melt the tension from her, draining away the aches sheʼd grown so accustomed to ignoring. When the masseuse reached her lower back, working with slow, deliberate movements, Incursio let out a breath she hadnʼt realized sheʼd been holding.

As the session continued, Incursioʼs mind began to drift. She thought of the battles she had faced, each memory dissipating with the steady rhythm of the massage. Her mind emptied, filled only with the sensation of relief and peace. By the time the session was over, she felt lighter, as if she had shed a layer of armor she hadnʼt realized sheʼd been carrying.

After the massage, Incursio was led to the innʼs hot springs, nestled in an outdoor courtyard surrounded by a bamboo grove. The warm water steamed in the crisp mountain air, the gentle sound of running water echoing off the stones around her. She disrobed, leaving her gear folded nearby, and slipped into the hot springs.

The heat enveloped her, soothing her sore muscles as she sank deeper into the mineral-rich water. She closed her eyes, allowing the warmth to seep into her bones, the tension easing as she breathed in the natural scents around her—fresh earth, the faint sweetness of bamboo, and the subtle, calming fragrance of jasmine drifting from the trees.

In the solitude of the springs, she let herself fully unwind. The water worked its magic, releasing stiffness from her joints, and her mind quieted. She felt as though the very earth itself was lending her strength, each minute spent in the hot springs restoring her energy. For the first time in ages, Incursio felt completely at ease. She leaned her head back, gazing at the clear blue sky above, letting herself simply exist, with no battles, no duties, no responsibilities intruding on her quality time.

After leaving the hot springs, she decided to indulge in one more treatment offered by the inn—a herbal spa treatment. The attendant led her to a serene room filled with low candlelight and herbal aromas that made her feel grounded and calm. She lay down on a bed of soft linens, and the attendant began applying a warm herbal poultice to her back and shoulders. The poultice, infused with a blend of healing herbs like rosemary, sage, and lavender, felt soothing against her skin.

The attendant massaged the poultice in gentle circles, allowing the herbs to sink into her skin, their healing properties drawing out tension and fatigue that even the hot springs hadnʼt fully reached. As the herbal warmth radiated through her, Incursio felt her mind begin to drift, lulled by the fragrant scent and gentle touch.

Once the herbal treatment was complete, the attendant wrapped her in soft linens and left her to rest in silence. She could feel the herbs working in tandem with her own energy, restoring her vitality and lending her a deep sense of calm. For the first time in a long time, she felt fully rejuvenated, as if her body and spirit were finally in harmony.

After the spa treatment, Incursio spent the evening in a quiet garden at the inn. She sipped a calming tea made from chamomile and rose petals, watching as the sun set behind the mountains, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. The air was cool, the garden peaceful, and she felt a rare sense of contentment as she sat alone, the lingering warmth from her day of relaxation settling deep within her.

Incursio realized that sheʼd gained more than just physical healing; she had gained a sense of calm, of inner strength. These were rare, fleeting moments in her life, but they reminded her of the importance of balance, of taking time to heal so she could return stronger. She took a final sip of her tea, her heart steady, her mind clear, ready to face whatever awaited her at the fortress.

As Incursio made her way along the coastal path on her final stretch back to the fortress, she felt a pull to pause, her gaze drawn to the horizon where the vast sea met the sky. The sun was beginning its descent, casting a warm, golden light over the waves, and without thinking, she made her way to the edge of the rocky shore, where the soft sound of the waves rose and fell in a soothing rhythm.

She stood silently, letting the cool sea breeze play with her white hair, carrying with it the faint, salty scent of the ocean. The sky was painted with hues of orange, pink, and deep purple, each color reflected in the shimmering water below. The sunlight glistened off the surface of the waves, creating trails of light that stretched out toward her, as if beckoning her to stay a little longer, to breathe in the peace of this rare moment.

As the sun sank lower, its light softened, casting a warm, ethereal glow across the world around her. Incursio felt a stillness settle over her, a quiet that went beyond physical rest—a deeper kind of tranquility that washed over her heart. She closed her eyes, letting the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves sink into her very core, filling her with a sense of calm she rarely allowed herself to feel.

For that brief moment, she was just a figure on the shore, a solitary soul touched by the beauty of the world, separate from battles and responsibilities. Her heart felt lighter, her spirit renewed by the quiet majesty of the sea and sky.

When the last sliver of the sun dipped below the horizon, and twilight began to take over, Incursio opened her eyes. She gave the fading sunset one final, lingering glance, a silent thanks for this moment of grace. Then, with a breath, she vanished into the night, carrying with her the memory of the sunset.
