Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1853 - 1642: Manticore 1

Incursio moved with grace and deadly precision, her every step calculated, her every swing lethal. The villagers below watched in awe and terror as she dispatched the monsters with ease. Her movements were almost poetic—spinning, slashing, and evading in a rhythm that left her untouchable. She was a blur of white, a storm of steel that tore through the horde without mercy.

As Incursio stood amidst the dwindling wave of monsters, her calm expression never wavered. Goblins and lesser creatures fell around her in waves, cut down by her relentless blade. Even as more advanced monsters lunged at her, she met them with quiet efficiency, her sword flashing in seamless arcs, her movements so fluid that she seemed like a single entity with her weapon.

But then the air thickened with a new energy—a heavier, darker presence. The ground trembled as a massive ogre lumbered forward, its hide thicker than iron and its eyes blazing with mindless rage. Beside it, a trio of wyverns circled overhead, their wingbeats creating gusts that sent dust and debris swirling through the air. Joining them were shadow hounds, their eyes glowing a sickly yellow, each one sleek and silent, their claws scraping ominously against the stones as they spread out, encircling her.

Incursio narrowed her ruby-red eyes. Her grip tightened on her sword as she exhaled slowly, grounding herself. She was no longer facing an unorganized horde; this was a coordinated attack led by creatures capable of inflicting real damage. Her aura shifted subtly, her poise sharpening as she prepared to confront them.

The ogre charged first, bellowing as it swung a massive stone club at her with the force to shatter bone. Incursio sprang forward, closing the distance with speed. She ducked under the swinging club, feeling the air rush past her, then spun around to slice into the ogreʼs thick leg with a precise downward stroke. The creature roared, stumbling as her blade cleaved deep, nearly severing the limb. But before she could land another blow, the wyverns dove, spewing torrents of flame in her direction.

Incursio leapt, evading the flames as she twisted in the air, slashing upward at one of the wyverns in a blinding arc. Her sword sliced through its wing with a crack, and the creature spiraled out of control, crashing into the ground below. She landed smoothly, barely pausing as the shadow hounds darted in from her blind spot, their claws and teeth aiming to tear into her from behind. She pivoted sharply, her sword flashing through the air in a graceful horizontal swing that bisected the first hound mid-leap. Before it even hit the ground, she followed up with a quick thrust that pierced the second hound through the chest, sending it skidding across the dirt.

The remaining wyverns regrouped, swooping in for another coordinated attack as the injured ogre roared again, struggling to regain its balance. Incursio watched them, her expression unfazed, her stance shifting slightly. She waited, gauging their approach, and at the perfect moment, she burst into motion, her body twisting and spinning as she dodged the wyvernsʼ claws and talons. One of them screeched, its talon swiping toward her, but she ducked low and surged upward, driving her blade into its chest with such force that her sword burst through its back in an explosion of dark scales and blood.

Withdrawing her blade in one swift motion, she twisted to meet the ogreʼs second attack as it bore down on her with a desperate fury. Its club came down in a brutal arc, aiming to crush her where she stood. Incursio sidestepped, then launched herself forward, her sword carving through the air with a sharp, decisive slash. She struck the ogreʼs exposed side, her blade sinking deep into its flesh as it roared in pain. The creature staggered, collapsing to one knee, and with a final, precise slice across its throat, she ended its suffering.

Only one wyvern remained. It circled above her, hesitant, its wings twitching nervously as it assessed the fate of its fallen allies. Incursio watched it coldly, her sword glinting in the dying light. Then, with a swift leap, she propelled herself into the air, using a burst of magic to close the distance in an instant. The wyvern shrieked, trying to veer away, but her blade found its mark, plunging into its heart in one clean stroke.

The creature fell silent as she landed back on the ground, breathing evenly, her white hair and clothes untouched by the blood that now painted the battlefield around her. She scanned the area, confirming that no other monsters dared to challenge her.

One of the larger orcs lunged at her, its club raised high. Without a flicker of hesitation, Incursio sidestepped the blow, twisting her body to slice through the orcʼs neck with a single fluid stroke. The creature fell, lifeless, as she moved on, her gaze scanning the battlefield with an eerie calm.

A pack of wind wolves charged her, their snarling mouths dripping with anticipation. She tightened her grip on her sword, then dashed forward, her blade flashing through the air. Each strike found its mark, each swing brought another beast down. The wolves barely had time to yelp before they crumpled to the ground.

As the dust settled and the last monsterʼs body hit the ground, an unsettling silence fell over the battlefield. Incursioʼs senses tingled, and she felt a heavy, malignant presence looming. She turned her gaze toward the horizon, and there, emerging from the shadows of the trees, was the final monster—the king of the wave, a manticore.

The beast was a terrifying amalgamation of power and malice. It stood twice as tall as a human, its massive body built like a lionʼs, with muscles rippling beneath its scarred, dark-red hide. Its mane, thick and bristling like iron spikes, ran down its back, shimmering with an unnatural gleam. Sharp, dagger-like fangs lined its powerful jaw, and saliva dripped from its mouth as it snarled, revealing rows of teeth designed to tear and crush.

The manticoreʼs eyes glowed with an eerie intelligence, a burning crimson that matched the intensity of Incursioʼs ruby gaze. Its wings, leathery and bat-like, stretched from its sides, each flap stirring the air with a heavy, ominous hum. The tips of its wings were jagged, as if capable of slicing through flesh, and its tail—a long, serpentine appendage ending in a cluster of venomous, barbed spikes—lashed behind it like a whip, leaving gashes in the ground with each movement.

The manticore let out a deep, guttural growl that echoed across the battlefield. This was no mindless beast; its eyes watched Incursio with a cunning intelligence, analyzing her every move, waiting for an opening. The villagers cowered, some whispering in terror, as the manticoreʼs predatory gaze shifted to them for a moment, as if savoring the fear it inspired. But then its attention snapped back to Incursio, its expression hardening with fury as it bared its fangs in a vicious snarl.

It spread its wings wide and lifted its head, releasing a deafening roar that sent a shockwave through the ground, a warning that this battle would be unlike the others. This was a creature born of nightmares, a true king of monsters, and it was ready to test its strength against the lone warrior who had slaughtered its army.
