Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 150: Chapter 93: Life’s Twists and Turns

Sophia Chang’s eyes flashed with a hint of cruelty, and she murmured, ”I can’t be blamed for this. If my parents weren’t so biased towards sons and intended to leave everything to him, I wouldn’t have...”

Nathan adjusted his black-framed glasses on his face and whispered, ”So you shouldn’t feel guilty about what happened back then. How old was he when your parents had the accident? A three-month-old baby, so lucky to inherit such wealth? Won’t it shorten his life?”

”In fact, we helped him. He gave up his fortune to avoid disaster; otherwise, how could he have grown up so safely?”

These words greatly comforted Sophia Chang.

She wasn’t truly a vicious person, but in the face of vast inheritance and a testament that gave her obligations without rights, she simply chose the former.

”You’re right. If it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t even be alive in this world.” Sophia Chang smiled and slowly regained herself, ”Since he’s come looking, we need to wrap this up once and for all.”

”That’s the way.” Nathan took out a plane ticket and smiled, ”I’ll go to your hometown now to meet the Leaf Family who adopted him.”

Sophia Chang breathed a sigh of relief, clasped her hands, and propped her elbows on her desk, looking radiant, ”I can go to the bank executive meeting again.”

...

Rushing out of the office building, Blake Leaf immediately took a taxi to the C-city Paternity Testing Center Forensic Institution.

The relative testing done here had legal validity.

After he arrived, he paid for an expedited service to get the results as soon as possible.

But even expedited service took three working days.

So he stayed in C-city for three more days.

Luckily, he ran fast enough that Sophia Chang’s people couldn’t catch up with him.

The city of C was so big and populated; with Sophia Chang’s capabilities, finding him among so many people wasn’t feasible.

Blake Leaf patiently waited until Thursday.

Early in the morning, he was the first to enter as the staff at the testing center began their workday.

”Hello, I’m here to collect Monday’s test results.” His heart pounded rapidly, the thumping sound echoing in his eardrums, making him suspect even the staff across the counter could hear it.

The staff looked at the receipt in his hand and found his test result according to the document code.

”Number 41, the results are here.” The person handed over a stack of A4-sized reports, ”There are staff over there who can help you explain the test results.”

Blake Leaf took the report and immediately flipped to the front for the conclusion.

”Based on the DNA results from lab technician A8791 at the C-city Paternity Testing Center Forensic Institution, the test does not support a mother-child relationship between the two.”

Seeing this line at the top, Blake Leaf’s heart sank abruptly.

Sophia Chang wasn’t lying; he really wasn’t her son?!

In that moment, Blake Leaf’s face felt burning hot.

Yesterday, he had been shouting in Sophia Chang’s company; everyone there thought he was her illegitimate child...

If they really had no relation, should he go and apologize?

Blake Leaf just wanted to uncover the truth of his heritage.

He stood there in a daze, staring at the report.

Another staff member approached and kindly asked, ”Do you need our professional explanation?”

Blake Leaf coughed and said with difficulty, ”...I just want to ask, what are the chances of this test being wrong?”

The staff member looked at the first page of his test report and professionally explained, ”If the test indicates a mother-child relationship, there might be a chance of error.”

”But if the result shows there is no mother-child relation, statistically, it’s unlikely to be wrong.”

”If you don’t believe it, you can get tested at another institution.”

Blake Leaf closed his eyes, ”It’s not that I don’t believe...”

It’s just that the disappointment was so intense it even made him doubt his entire existence.

Should he even exist in this world?

Just as he felt almost nihilistic, the staffer added, ”However, although you don’t have a mother-child relation with the test subject, you share the same father and mother, as siblings or brother and sister.”

”What?!” Blake Leaf looked up abruptly, thinking he might have been hallucinating from extreme disappointment, ”Say it again? What relation?”

For the sake of his heritage, he had researched a lot about DNA testing, ”Isn’t it true that with current technology, only direct parent-child relationships can be tested? Can siblings also be determined?”

The experienced staff member wasn’t surprised by Blake Leaf’s reaction.

Working there, he had seen all kinds of life stories, more dramatic than many TV shows.

The person led Blake Leaf to a sofa in a corner of the lobby and patiently explained, ”The technology we use is authorized by Lothrop Biotechnology Corporation and is leading globally.”

”Other institutions might not be able to conduct such tests, but our testing center definitely can.”

”Besides direct parent-child relationship testing, we can also determine sibling relationships, whether brother-brother, sister-sister, or brother-sister.”

”Of course, if it’s half-sibling relationships, either maternal or paternal, it can’t yet be determined through DNA testing.”

Blake Leaf’s once dying spirit gradually revived.

His mind raced to figure out what exactly was going on.

Sophia Chang wasn’t his mother, but his full-blooded sister?!

Then who were his parents?

Right, does this mean his parents have actually passed away?

Thinking about what he said to his 300-million-sister before, he smiled bitterly.

What a slap in the face.

That roommate of his 300-million-sister was truly amazing; who knew she could predict it so accurately!
