Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 116: Chapter 77: Caught Someone’s Eye (Part 2)

Zoe Johnson turned her head and saw another girl’s bright, youthful face, and became even more enthusiastic. She handed over her business card: ”I’m Zoe Johnson, a talent agent from NewHuman Entertainment Company. What’s your name? How old are you? Interested in joining a girl group? Our company plans to focus on girl group development this year, and there are still several spots available. With your looks, you’ll easily make it to the top three. This is my card...”

Before she could finish, Lawrence Winters interrupted her coldly, ”Ms. Johnson, don’t be eyeing what’s in the pot while eating what’s in the bowl!”

”Lucas Harlow is so great, you should be planning for him to become more popular, not messing around elsewhere! Ask yourself, are you a qualified agent?”

Lawrence Winters, being a senior fan of Lucas Harlow, was well aware of his work situation and the status of his signed company.

Zoe Johnson was taken aback by Lawrence’s reprimand, ”...Are you... a fan of Lucas Harlow?”

As she said this, Lucas Harlow and his assistant happened to pass by not far away.

Lucas Harlow was always low-key, wearing a mask and sunglasses, blending in like a passerby.

His assistant heard someone mention Lucas’s name and turned to look, eyes wide with surprise: ”Ahhh! Lucas! Look, the quality of your fans has improved a lot! That girl is really pretty! Prettier than the lead actress in your show!”

Lucas Harlow took off his sunglasses and glanced over, saying mildly, ”She’s the one and only, what’s up? You don’t recognize her just because she’s slimmed down?”

Assistant: Thunderstruck.JPG.

”She... she... is that one and only?! Your loyal hardcore fan! It’s really her! Didn’t expect her to be so stunning after losing weight! I should stop mocking my sister who’s always talking about losing weight... Maybe she’ll become gorgeous too...” The assistant kept turning back, eager to take a photo with Lawrence Winters.

He tilted his head and listened for a while, then whispered to Lucas Harlow, ”...Zoe Johnson, that clueless woman, actually took a liking to Lucas’s fan... even invited her to join a girl group...”

Lucas Harlow furrowed his brow slightly.

”The one and only” really was quite pretty, but wasn’t suited for the entertainment world.

He couldn’t pinpoint why, but felt this girl just didn’t belong there.

But he knew Zoe well—she was relentless in achieving her goals. In the past, she’d coerced good people into questionable careers.

While in a law-governed society now, she’d resorted to more underhanded means to get people to sign contracts more than once.

Lucas Harlow thought for a while, whispered a few words to his assistant, pointed towards Zoe’s direction, then went into the crew’s temporary resting room to prepare for activities.

Zoe Johnson, however, didn’t give up, eyeing both Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne.

Recently, there was fierce competition within her company, and she hadn’t discovered a potential breakout star for a while.

Since both were idol chasers, it showed they definitely admired the entertainment industry; the only worry might be family disapproval, but offering better terms could easily win them over.

”This young gentleman and young lady, since you’re fans of Lucas Harlow, I can arrange for you to join Lucas’s studio. Not only could you see your idol every day, but you might even get to act with him... Isn’t that great?”

Zoe Johnson tried all her persuasive tricks.

Kenneth Osborne looked a bit impatient, and Lawrence Winters kept twitching the corner of her mouth.

If Lucas Harlow hadn’t appeared yet, she would’ve wanted to leave.

Just then, a young man ran over and told Zoe, ”Ms. Johnson, weren’t you about to have a meeting? Our Lucas has been waiting for a while.”

Zoe Johnson regrettably acknowledged and forcefully handed her business card to Lawrence Winters, ”Miss, if you reconsider, give me a call or send me an email. I’m waiting for you!”

She then hurriedly left for the crew’s temporary resting room to prepare for activities.

The young assistant didn’t follow and instead winked at Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters’s heart skipped a beat.

Lucas? Did he say Lucas?

Was it Lucas Harlow?

That young man stared at her, smiling, ”You’re Lucas’s fans, right? I’m Lucas’s assistant and have seen you online.”

Lawrence realized it was Lucas Harlow’s assistant, who had spoken for her in a fan forum before.

She eagerly nodded, ”Yes, yes, I’m a fan of Little Lucas. Has he arrived?”

She tiptoed looking around.

Little Lucas? What on earth? The assistant held back laughter, ”Lucas is here; he just arrived and will come out for an event soon. Please be careful.”

He gestured to her, hinting with his eyebrows, ”Last time at the airport when you were pushed down, it was our Lucas who personally picked you up and took you to safety.”

”What?!” This time, Lawrence was genuinely shocked, ”It was really... Lucas?!”

She was too embarrassed to say ”Little Lucas” again.

Before, she’d only seen publicity stills and television personas, and never in person at the airport.

But he not only saw her but even rescued her!

Lawrence’s heart raced, feeling like she was about to faint.

She gripped Kenneth Osborne’s arm, trying to steady herself.

She didn’t want to embarrass herself in such a setting.

Kenneth Osborne looked down on her inwardly, but outwardly remained gentle and calm, stepping closer so she half leaned on him.

Lawrence felt Kenneth’s presence, revitalizing her energy.

Holding onto Kenneth felt like holding onto a generator, constantly refueling, as she couldn’t help but smile, saying, ”Was it really Lucas Harlow who saved me? I have a video, but it was so chaotic at the time you couldn’t clearly see what the person looked like, just a vague outline.”

Kenneth felt a pang inside, though outwardly he still smiled as the spark in his eyes dimmed.

The assistant didn’t linger much and took out his phone, ”Here, let’s add on WeChat. I’ll send you the picture of Lucas from that day, and since you’re Lucas’s big fan, let’s keep in touch.”
