Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 102: Chapter 70: Warm Moments (Third Update)

The female officer next to them chuckled and comforted Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne, ”You two siblings don’t need to be afraid. This student is the victim; they reported the case. We’re going to take them to the hospital for a medical examination, then back to the police station for some procedures, and then they can go home.”

Seeing Lawrence scared and pale, the female officer’s maternal instinct kicked in, and she hugged her, saying, ”It’s okay now, it’s okay. We won’t let any of those who hurt you get away.”

Lawrence’s anxiety turned to joy, and she immediately hugged the female officer, showering her with praise, ”Auntie officer, you’re wonderful! Seeing you makes me feel relieved! This society has justice and fairness because of you! You’re the greatest assurance for us citizens to safely follow our idols!”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Seeing her sharp-tongued as ever, it seemed she would be fine.

However, upon discovering the numerous footprints on her back, Kenneth still clenched his fists secretly.

The fervent fan was already sitting in the police car. Joyce Shaw had a pale face initially, planning to use all her savings to hire the best lawyer for the case.

Once the truth was clarified, realizing the fan was the one who reported the case and Lawrence was the victim, Joyce finally breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest with a bitter smile, ”You two almost gave Kenneth and me a heart attack.”

Kenneth wasn’t at ease with Lawrence going to the police station with the female officers. After some thought, he asked, ”Excuse me, can we accompany them to the hospital and police station? Then we can bring them back to campus.”

He and Joyce both took out their ID cards and student IDs.

The female officer, seeing they were students at Yan University, and master’s students at that, treated them more politely.

After discussing with her superior, she agreed to Kenneth and Joyce’s request, taking them along in the police car.

The group first went to the hospital to assess Lawrence.

The fan was mostly unscathed; the real victim was Lawrence.

Upon reaching a hospital qualified to conduct forensic examinations, under the company of the female officer, Lawrence removed her shirt and lay face down on the examination table.

The female doctor responsible for the examination took a look at her back and angrily said, ”...Is it domestic violence again?! Don’t worry, girl! I’ll definitely testify for you!”

The female officer glanced over and saw that Lawrence’s skin was exceptionally fair and smooth, likely very tender.

Because the injuries from kicking had already turned purple, they contrasted starkly within her gracefully contoured back groove.

It was like a perfectly crafted mutton fat jade vase being cracked and smeared with purple medicine, evoking a sense of wastefulness.

Lawrence no longer felt much pain. Her skin was simply extremely tender; even the slightest touch would result in red, swollen bruising.

As a child, she was quite mischievous but managed to avoid her mother’s ”iron palm” more often due to this trait...

But now she wouldn’t foolishly inform the doctor of her skin feature. Instead, she sorrowfully stated, ”It’s not domestic violence; it’s two celebrities’ fans who kicked me at the airport...”

After speaking, she shed a few tears.

”What? Celebrity fans? Which celebrity? How arrogant! Is there no law?!” The female doctor expressed increasing sympathy for Lawrence.

As she wrote the forensic report, she took a hard stance, insisting on elevating the injury to a ”minor criminal injury.”

In criminal standards, minor injuries and minor criminal injuries are entirely different concepts.

Minor injuries constitute a civil case, with fines up to five hundred yuan and can be reconciled between the parties after mediation.

Minor criminal injuries constitute a criminal case, with the police initiating an investigation based on the situation, unable to be resolved personally between the parties.

Lawrence thought of herself being trampled at the airport and felt if it weren’t for the kind passerby, she might have lost her life. She didn’t find the ”minor criminal injury” report excessive at all.

If they aren’t taught a lesson, they’ll think they can reach the sky just by being fans of a celebrity.

Lawrence sneered inwardly, slowly dressing before stepping off the hospital bed.

The female officer, feeling compassionate for her, supported her as they slowly walked out of the ward.

Waiting outside were Kenneth Osborne, Joyce Shaw, and the fervent fan.

”How was it? Was it very serious?” Kenneth asked worriedly.

The female officer glanced at him twice, thinking that if she hadn’t seen the ID cards and student IDs, she would have assumed this was the celebrity Lawrence was chasing...

”Not too bad, the doctor said it’s a minor criminal injury.” Lawrence said obediently, without explaining that a ”minor criminal injury” in criminal terms is actually quite serious for ordinary people.

But not stating it didn’t mean others were unaware.

Kenneth immediately asked, ”...Is it criminally recognized as a minor injury?”

Lawrence: ”...”

Having a scholar-type classmate is really annoying!

Can’t even bluff her way through.

The female officer quickly interjected, ”Yes, but the doctor has also checked, and with proper medication and care for a period, recovery is expected.”

”Alright, thank you.” Kenneth said politely, simultaneously taking Lawrence from the female officer, half-hugging her shoulder, effectively restraining her to prevent further reckless actions.

After completing the examination at the hospital, the group followed the female officer back to the police station for procedures.

After signing off, Lawrence suddenly remembered the passerby who rescued her from the crowd and asked the female officer, ”Auntie officer, in the video evidence you collected, did you see anyone saving me?”

”Did you? Let me ask my colleague.” The female officer called her colleague who was reviewing the video, explaining the situation.

Her colleague replied after a while, ”Yes, but that person was wearing a mask and a baseball cap, so you couldn’t see their face.”

Lawrence Winters clasped his hands together, pleading with the policewoman, ”Auntie Policewoman, could you copy that segment of the video for me? I’d like to keep it as a memento. If I ever find the person who rescued me, I can properly thank him!”

After consulting with her superior and getting permission, the policewoman said to her, ”I can copy that short segment of the video for you, but you can’t spread it; it’s just for you to keep as a memento.”

Lawrence Winters nodded eagerly.

The policewoman sent the video to her phone and had her sign to confirm receipt before letting them leave.

Outside the police station, Kenneth Osborne hailed an SUV ride; the four of them could take one car back.

Joyce Shaw and Crazy Girl sat in the back row to avoid disturbance.

Crazy Girl had been frightened too many times that night and felt somewhat exhausted.

Joyce Shaw held her, letting her rest in his embrace.

He occasionally lowered his head, gently touching her forehead with his lips to feel her temperature and ensure she wasn’t feverish.

His embrace was warm and safe, causing Crazy Girl to sigh lightly and extend both arms to quietly hug Joyce Shaw back.

Joyce Shaw hadn’t expected Crazy Girl to proactively hug him back, his body stiffened, and his heart pounded even more vigorously.

Crazy Girl leaned against him, listening to his increasingly rapid heartbeat, knowing he genuinely cared for her. She was deeply moved, and couldn’t help the corners of her mouth lifting.

No matter how severe the emotional trauma, it could be healed in the face of such unconditional love.

She instantly felt her taut nerves relax, her eyelids becoming heavier, until she unexpectedly fell asleep.

Joyce Shaw felt the gentle breathing and increasingly heavy weight of the person in his arms, his heart overflowing with joy.

He adjusted her position to allow her a more comfortable sleep.

Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters were seated in the middle row.

One of them sat by the left window, the other by the right window, with a narrow aisle between them.

After a while, Kenneth Osborne finally turned his head, scrutinized Lawrence Winters, and seeing so many footprints on her pale pink hoodie, he asked, ”Does it hurt?”

Lawrence Winters sighed with relief, hastily furrowed her brows pitifully, and nodded, ”It hurts, it hurts so much!”

”Serves you right.” Kenneth Osborne scolded her while leaning over to take her arm, massaging it bit by bit, asking, ”Where did they kick you?”

Lawrence Winters sat up straight, ”My back. At that time, I quickly lay down and covered my head, they only kicked my back.”

”They only kicked your back? You think you’re lucky, don’t you?” Kenneth Osborne snorted coldly, but his hands had already moved to her back, starting to press gently.

Lawrence Winters still felt a little pain and let out a soft cry.

Joyce Shaw in the back immediately said, ”Could you two keep it down? Ah-Chu is asleep.”

Lawrence Winters turned to take a look and secretly made a face.

As she drew her gaze back, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Kenneth Osborne looking at her.

She looked at him, seeking confirmation, and silently mouthed, ”Is there something wrong?”

Kenneth Osborne expressionlessly shifted his gaze, looking out at the night scene through the car window.

It was already 10:30 PM, and the dormitory building would soon lock its doors.

They hurried as fast as they could, and finally managed to get Lawrence Winters and Crazy Girl back to the girls’ dormitory at Yan University before eleven o’clock.

Crazy Girl had just woken up and was still a bit groggy, looking back with every few steps as she went upstairs.

Lawrence Winters, meanwhile, raced up quickly, afraid Kenneth Osborne would grab her for more scolding.

Joyce Shaw’s gaze was completely occupied by Crazy Girl, and only after the door to the girls’ dormitory closed and her silhouette couldn’t be seen anymore did he turn to look at Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne had long since shoved his hands in his pockets and was heading back to their dormitory.

Joyce Shaw knew Kenneth Osborne was in a bad mood, so although he was overjoyed, he suppressed his emotions and chose not to chatter.

He simply took out his phone and began chatting with Crazy Girl.

Kenneth Osborne returned to the dormitory, went alone to the balcony, and smoked a cigarette.

Afterward, it was as if inspiration had struck him, he went back, powered on his computer, and crackled away rewriting the long-unresolved program.

The next morning, he woke Joyce Shaw up, smiling as he said, ”The smart control program is done; send a message to the client, once they transfer the balance, I’ll send them the finished product.”

”Really?! There are no bugs this time?!” Joyce Shaw was thrilled, throwing off the quilt and quickly got out of bed to contact the client via his computer.

After sending the payment reminder, he discussed with Kenneth Osborne, ”When the balance from this contract comes in, I get a million, plus the money left by my parents, it’s just enough for the down payment on a house.”
