Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 138: Chapter 87: The Good Kid Is Back (First Update)

Penelope Sommers nodded, looked at him curiously, and thought to herself, this young man is truly handsome. She smiled and asked, ”What can I do for you?”

Blake Leaf gradually felt that this woman seemed very friendly. Although she was older and not a beauty, the more he looked, the more she appeared agreeable.

He took a step forward with a smile and said, ”I wanted to ask if you had a relative who married into City C more than twenty years ago? Was it your sister?”

Penelope Sommers frowned, ”My sister? I don’t have a sister! Married to City C more than twenty years ago... Ah! It’s her!”

Suddenly, her expression changed, as if she remembered something, and she pushed him away angrily, saying, ”I don’t have such relatives! Who are you to her?! Are you her son? Get away from me! — A bunch of heartless bastards! I don’t have relatives like you! Get lost!”

In her hand was a plastic bag containing a box of white porridge and several meat buns, which she used to kick and hit Blake Leaf, almost spilling the white porridge inside.

Blake Leaf was very surprised, but seeing how agitated this woman was, he didn’t want to confront her, so he had to back away.

Once he ran and hid behind a nearby flower bed, where she couldn’t see him, the woman spat vehemently on the ground and angrily said, ”...After doing such things, still having the audacity to let the son come and recognize relatives! Why doesn’t lightning strike this heartless family!”

”Useless! Absolutely useless!”

The woman in her fifties cursed as she entered the dark hallway.

Blake Leaf hid behind the flower bed, taking many photos of her.

There were a few strands of hair in his hand that he had managed to pull off her shoulder during the struggle.

He carefully put them into a small plastic bag meant for samples.

Next, he would go to East City to meet his uncle’s family and his grandmother.

Again, he took the light rail.

This time, it took him an hour and a half to reach the gated community of the high-rise buildings in East City.

The houses here were much more upscale than where the woman in her fifties lived, but it was at least a ten-year-old community.

That was when high-rise buildings started to become popular nationwide, characterized by distinct architectural styles of that era.

Blake Leaf, wearing sunglasses again, leisurely walked into the community.

This time, he didn’t ask anyone for directions.

Because the property management here was very vigilant and kept a close eye on him as soon as he entered.

He could only try to act naturally as he approached the entrance of Building C.

Just then, an older woman with two geese was about to open the door and go in.

He quickly stepped forward and said eagerly, ”Let me help you with that.”

The older woman turned and saw a tall and slender handsome young man, and her eyes lit up with a smile, ”Thank you, young man!”

She spoke standard Mandarin and seemed very cultured. Blake Leaf took the opportunity to follow her into the building and saw the older woman enter the elevator and press the button for the twelfth floor.

He followed her in and pressed the button for the eighteenth floor.

His uncle and grandmother lived in a three-bedroom apartment on the eighteenth floor.

The elevator stopped on the eighteenth floor, and Blake Leaf stepped out.

The hallway on this floor was not spacious, with only four households.

He found the address given by his cousin’s father and rang the doorbell.

The doorbell rang for quite a while before someone opened the door grumbling.

The outer security door was still tightly shut.

Blake Leaf saw a completely white-haired old man standing behind the security door, staring at him and asking, ”Who are you looking for?”

Blake Leaf quickly asked, ”Is this the Su family? I’m looking for someone named George Sommers.”

The old man’s eyebrows furrowed tightly, ”You’re looking for George Sommers? That’s me! Why are you looking for me? I don’t know you. If it’s about my grandson’s debt, go find him, not me!”

Did he mistake Blake Leaf for a debt collector?

Blake Leaf wanted to laugh but found it hard to do so.

This old man was supposed to be his uncle; his grandson was as old as him?!

Is that possible?!

Blake Leaf felt impulsive, wanting to visit the household registration office himself to see if there was a mistake.

He composed himself, still smiling courteously, and said, ”Are you George Sommers? I wanted to ask if you had a relative who married into City C more than twenty years ago? Was it your sister?”

The old man was stunned by his question, taking a moment to recover and then laughingly said, ”Hey? Are you Long Feng’s son? Oh wow, you know, you really do look a bit like her! Come in, come in!” He said as he was going to unlock the security door.

Blake Leaf was overcome with joy, his voice shaking with excitement, ”...Really?! Do I really look like her?!”

The old man was still laughing but suddenly became alert when he heard Blake Leaf say so, ”You’re not Su Long Feng’s son? How can you not know what your own mom looks like? Are you a fraud?!”

Blake Leaf: ”...”

He was about to clarify that he wasn’t a fraud when a white-haired elderly lady peeked out from behind the old man, leaning on a cane, her whole body hunched like a bow.

Her eyes were murky, with her eyeballs and pupils almost blending into a grayish-white, indicating severe cataracts.

But she peered at Blake Leaf from bottom to top, her sunken lips trembling intensely, and a hand, skeletal and bony, reached out, trying to touch him through the gap in the security door.

”...Wen... Wen... good child is back...”

The wrinkles on her face were deep as ravines, and she spoke while breathing heavily, the sounds from her lungs resembling an accordion, wheezing and rasping.

Blake Leaf stared wide-eyed at this elderly woman.

He felt this person should be his grandmother, but he didn’t understand how his grandmother could have aged so much?!

Before he had time to react, the elderly woman suddenly shouted ”...Hui Wen!” and then collapsed to the ground with a bang.
