Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 139: Chapter 88: Old Friends Meet Without Recognition (Second Update, Surprise Inside)

Thud!

The old lady’s head hit the tiles heavily, you could even hear a crisp thumping sound.

”Mom! Mom! How are you?! Don’t scare me!” The old man screamed wildly, crouched down and shook his mom’s head chaotically.

Blake Leaf was momentarily stunned by the sudden turn of events, then quickly took out his phone and called the 120 emergency center for an ambulance.

Before long, the ambulance from the emergency center arrived, and the medical staff took the old lady to the hospital.

The household was in chaos, and despite the many doubts in Blake Leaf’s mind, he didn’t want to disturb them now.

He left the neighborhood and called ”Sister Three Billion,” saying: ”Can you help me one more time and let me personally check on their household registration?”

Sister Three Billion had just gotten up not long ago and was eating the love-filled Dan Dan noodles cooked by her dad.

Hearing Blake Leaf’s request, she thought for a moment and asked, ”...Didn’t you go see them today? Did my dad give you the wrong information?”

”...I went, and I found them. They are indeed the names and addresses your dad gave me, all confirmed. But their ages are much older than I expected...”

Blake Leaf didn’t know how to explain it.

His parents should be in their forties, at most about fifty.

But if his mom’s sister is already over fifty, how old is his mom?

Older than his current parents.

This doesn’t make sense.

After voicing his doubts, Sister Three Billion nodded in agreement and said, ”It sounds like there’s been a mistake in the generation line.”

”These people should be your mom’s uncle and aunt, that would make sense.”

Blake Leaf nodded quickly, ”Yes, that’s exactly what I thought. So I want to personally check the household registration information your dad looked at to confirm if there’s been a mistake in the generation line.”

Sister Three Billion no longer wanted to eat the remaining Dan Dan noodles, and said, ”I’ll go find my dad, are you coming to my house?”

Blake Leaf hesitated for a moment, ”I’m in the café across from your neighborhood.”

”I’ll come out right away,” replied Sister Three Billion, putting down the chopsticks, going to her room to change clothes, and then telling her dad, ”Dad, call Uncle Wang and say I’ll be going to verify the household registration information with my classmate later.”

”Alright.” Sister Three Billion’s dad agreed without hesitation, not asking why, and quickly handled it for her, then smilingly said, ”Girl, that Blake kid is not bad, if you could be together, I’d be at ease.”

”What are you talking about?” scoffed Sister Three Billion as she flicked her big waves, ”Your daughter is going to marry into a wealthy family! Who’d want to be with a poor kid like Blake Leaf!”

She snorted, grabbed the car keys, and went out.

Her dad watched her leave with a happy smile, shaking his head, ”Just like her mom, says one thing, means another.”

Sister Three Billion drove out of the neighborhood, picked up Blake Leaf at the café across the street, ”Get in the car, I’ll take you to the household registration management center. My dad has already called.”

Seeing she was driving alone, Blake Leaf opened the car door and got in.

If Sister Three Billion’s dad had also come, Blake Leaf wouldn’t have dared get in no matter what.

After he got in, Sister Three Billion didn’t speak, they drove in silence all the way to the household registration management center.

She called Uncle Wang, who personally came down to take her and Blake Leaf inside.

Since Sister Three Billion’s dad, Old Xi, had already been there once, Uncle Wang knew what they were looking for.

He took Sister Three Billion and Blake Leaf to the place where Old Xi had searched for information last time, saying, ”It’s here, just take a look, don’t get me into trouble.”

”Got it. Rest assured,” Sister Three Billion quickly assured.

Here, even using a phone to take photos of documents wasn’t allowed.

Filled with doubts, Blake Leaf started examining the household registration documents.

Sure enough, Penelope Sommers, the middle-aged woman he first saw today, was already fifty-five years old.

And that man, George Sommers, was even older, already sixty-five, no wonder he thought Blake Leaf was his grandson’s friend.

And that old lady, Mrs. So-Yang, was already over eighty.

Recalling how she fainted upon seeing him, Blake Leaf secretly hoped she was okay and would recover soon.

Finally, he saw that twenty-some years ago, Penelope Sommers married and moved her registration from Y City to C City, now forty-two years old.

This age made sense.

If he guessed correctly, this Penelope Sommers should actually be his real mom.

He looked at the family relationships and said, somewhat puzzled, ”...Sister Three Billion, George Sommers and Penelope Sommers should be Penelope Sommers’s uncle and aunt, right? Mrs. So-Yang should be Penelope Sommers’s grandmother.”
