Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 796: Chapter 353: Actually, This Isn’t Bad

In the afternoon, after lunch, Surya changed out of her dress and high-heeled stockings, and donned a valiant knight’s shirt and trousers, before putting on the armor sent by the Emperor.

This was a masterwork vibranium plate armor, tailored to the female knight’s figure, custom-made. It was silver throughout, with a few accents of gold and black. On Surya’s left shoulder hung Laine’s family crest; beneath the shoulder and chest armor, there were many golden scriptures engraved and pasted. Once Surya wore this armor, an intense energy and supreme power enveloped the female knight layer by layer. She could feel the formidable power contained within the armor.

The female knight picked up the Leonais Sword and began practicing her swordsmanship, a habit she had formed over the past decade, dedicating at least two to three hours to training every day.

Her swordsmanship emphasized slashing and thrusting. Compared to an average male, her wrist strength was relatively weaker, thus she used technique to compensate for her lack of strength. Additionally, Surya forwent using a shield for this reason.

Laine and the Lake Fairy didn’t disturb Surya’s practice. The man and the god sat behind a window on the second floor of the tower, watching Surya practice, occasionally chatting here and there.

Laine’s strength was too overwhelming; his combat skills and swordsmanship were not suitable for practicing with the female knight. Laine’s combat skills were geared toward killing the opponent directly. When he sparred with Angerong, they often left the surroundings devastated. Sparring with Surya was out of the question, as he would feel guilty for a long time if he accidentally hurt the female knight.

”Very exceptional, Surya being able to become the laureate of the tournament; Francois must have put a lot of effort into her. Her swordsmanship was tailored by Francois, and her talent is astonishing. Even though she’s only at the Legendary Initial Tier, the strength she displays is at least one level higher.” The Lake Fairy sat beside Laine, speaking in a peculiar tone: ”My Champion? You must be delighted, having picked such a beautiful flower.”

”Yes, I am very grateful for your favor, Lilith,” Laine stared at the Lake Fairy, wondering if she had another mischievous idea.

”You don’t need to worry about Surya, I like her very much too. She’s gentle, generous, considerate, a perfect match for you.” The Lake Fairy immediately saw what was bothering Laine and shook her head: ”I keep my word; since she married you, she is your wife. Don’t overthink.”

”...So, what do you want to say? My Lady?” Laine’s expression slightly improved; he had always worried if the Lake Fairy would use Surya to stir up trouble. Over time, he had somewhat understood her preferences.

”Um... I really like that set of platinum jewelry...” The Lake Fairy stealthily entwined her arm with Laine’s: ”Could you...”

”That was a gift from my father to Surya.” A black line appeared on Laine’s forehead, and he immediately broke free.

”But yours all come in sets...” The Lake Fairy continued to entwine Laine’s arm, softly complaining.

”That was a gift from my father to Surya; she can decide whom to give it to, not me. I’ve always respected my wife very much.” Laine continued to mumble: ”If you really want it, you can ask Surya. I think she won’t refuse to give it to you.”

The Lake Fairy, seeing no breakthrough from Laine, gave up her subsequent plans. She adjusted her skirt, sat down on the sofa chair, kicked off her high heels, and tucked her beautiful legs in black velvet stockings under the long skirt, leaving only her silken feet exposed. She complained, ”This is what I deserve. Originally, all nine sets should have been mine; I’m only asking for one set.”

If it were you, maybe you wouldn’t get even one set, thought Laine but didn’t say it aloud.

”If you want to, just talk to Surya. All these things are my father’s betrothal gifts, and the right of ownership lies with Surya, not with me.” Laine relaxed, leaning against the sofa chair. To avoid the Lake Fairy’s relentless pursuit, he changed the subject: ”Lord Tygris went to the King’s Forest to meet Olein and Airel, wonder how it will turn out.”

”The result? Better than nothing, I suppose.” The Lake Fairy entwined her arm with Laine and leaned on his shoulder, giving him a gentle kiss on the face. Her smooth, radiant golden hair fell from the man’s shoulder: ”Hundreds of years ago, when Finuba was not yet the Phoenix King, he reached Aisloron and had a meeting with Olein. Finuba actively advocated for Eslelin and the Asur to reunite, at least to open trade and communication. But Olein and Airel consistently refused, ending in nothing... This likely has something to do with the Hunting God Kunos.”

”The Hunting God Kunos?”

”The Hunting God Kunos is one of the Elf God Kings. The elves have three God Kings: the Phoenix Lord Asuyan, the Blood Hand God Kaine, and the Hunting God Kunos. Asuyan is the God King of the Asur; Kaine is the God King of the Duruzi; Kunos is the God King of the Eslelin. Olein and Airel are both incarnations of Kunos in the mortal realm. Kunos and Aisha are husband and wife, and Aisha is my mother,” the Lake Fairy said casually: ”In theory, Kunos is my father, but I once joined forces with him to bestow part of the Divine Power to a High Elf Prince, the Shadow King Ares. I bestowed upon Ares my Moon Bow, and Kunos granted Ares powerful hunting skills and blessings.”
