The mercenaries of Tiriel thus received their payment and helped Duke Hubert guard the border areas.

”Lord Hubert’s methods clearly don’t suit us,” Laine said helplessly. ”Kakasong and Tiriel share a border, so Lord Hubert can do that. But for the Ugoer people in Kislev, even by ship, it would take at least three to four months. How could they appear here for no reason?”

”But I think you’ve already come up with an excuse,” Francois stared at Laine.

”What do you think about an Ugoer Circus? An Ugoer Circus from Kislev accepted our invitation to come to Brittania for a long-term tour, bringing joy to peasants and noblemen. Get Kislev to arrange for two bears, the dancing kind, how about it?” As expected, Laine said with a mischievous grin, ”Everyone would love it. If enemies attack, these justice-filled Ugoer people would spontaneously fight to protect the circus’s tour. I think no one would object!”

”Hahahahahahahahahahaha!” Francois laughed heartily, the Duke was amused by Laine, ”You’ve really got a way, Laine!”

”It’s all because of the rules,” Laine laughed along endlessly.

After laughing, Francois said to Laine, ”Wait, Yuri, Jerald, and I will all go to your room. Let’s eat together as a family. Surya will also come. Let’s order a hotpot. I’ve already asked the chefs to prepare the ingredients.”

Hotpot is a delicacy that came from the Empire. It’s said to be a favorite dining method of the Zhendan people from the other side of the World’s Roof Mountain Range. After reaching Brittania, it gradually entered the noble court and became a special culinary culture in autumn and winter.

”Um... wasn’t it said that it’s not good to meet before marriage?” Laine was looking forward to it in his heart, but he still had to act reserved on the surface.

”It doesn’t matter; you haven’t exactly never met before marriage,” Francois took a very open view of it, and the Duke of Winford’s words were full of humor, ”I’ve even allowed Surya to stay over at your place several times, why would I mind this?”

”Alright then.”

Half an hour later, in the Duke’s Castle, in Laine’s room.

As the future husband of the lady, Laine naturally received the highest level of treatment. Francois specifically allocated him a large suite. Now, in the center of the dining room of the suite, a large copper hotpot is lit with charcoal. The main ingredients for the hotpot are beef slices, ham, pork cutlets, and shrimp, along with spinach, onions, butter, and a variety of spices. The table is, of course, not without Winford’s finest wine, ”Lysa Lus.”

Surya Marchioness, who had not seen Laine for several months, was dressed in a standard Brittania court great noblewoman’s gown and black boots, sitting next to Laine. Her long golden curls were fixed with a beautiful headband, and there was an enchanting gentle smile on her exquisite face. The lady knight had indeed missed Laine after being apart for several months and felt fully content sitting shoulder to shoulder with him, eating hotpot together as a family, her rosy cheeks displaying an intoxicating blush.

The dining room was enveloped in the white mist produced by the hotpot,

”It’s a pity that Lord Norman didn’t want to come; he said he had already eaten,” Jerald, who was also very happy, said with a hint of regret, ”I think he’s still afraid to see the Duke.”

”Insecurity... is that it?” Julius coolly kept a straight face and raised his glass for a drink.

”There’s really nothing to it,” Francois, who was in high spirits, replied. The Duke had always doted on his daughter, and Laine was the top match in the entire country, with which he was very satisfied, ”It’s just a meal together, but since he doesn’t want to come, so be it. There will be plenty of opportunities later; this impromptu invitation was indeed a bit abrupt.”

”Hmm~” Laine picked up a slice of beef and was about to dip it in.

”Knock, knock, knock~” At this moment, there was a knock on the door.

”I’ll get it!” Jerald, who was sitting closest to the door, took out a napkin to wipe his mouth and got up to open the door.

”Laine... tonight I... huh?” The visitor was stunned upon seeing Jerald at the door.

Jerald himself was even more surprised; the knight opened his mouth wide upon seeing the visitor.

”Mo... Mogiana, Your Highness??”
