Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2603: Chapter 2604: Return to Tianyun (170)

”But His Majesty Father, thinking of me as this family’s daughter-in-law, and since it concerned me myself, let me make the decision. I didn’t have the Five Clans executed; I only had Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan arrested.”

”These two were originally going to be beheaded, but you hadn’t woken up, and I felt that was too easy on them, so I didn’t have them killed for the time being. If you really hadn’t woken up, I definitely would’ve had them sliced into a thousand pieces.”

”Now that you’re awake, tomorrow we’ll have people execute them by beheading according to the law. I don’t care whether they’ve done bad things before or not; this time they had murderous intent toward us. If we let them go, it’ll be endless trouble for us. It’s better to kill them.”

Speaking of this, Su Xing’s tone became a little cautious: ”Husband, if I have them executed, you won’t oppose it, will you?”

Taoming Ye sighed and said, ”What is there for me to oppose? This is them reaping what they sowed.”

”Taoming Hai is your second younger brother, after all. I’m afraid you’ll have a knot in your heart.”

Taoming Ye laughed and said, ”A second younger brother who never regarded me as an older brother since we were young? A second younger brother who wants me dead? A second younger brother who wants my life? My heart isn’t that kind. Since he never treated me as an older brother, I’ve never treated him as a younger brother either. Now he’s brought this on himself. I won’t have any knot in my heart; don’t worry.”

Only then did Su Xing heave a big sigh of relief and say with a smile, ”It’s good that you won’t have a knot in your heart. I don’t want this matter to create any barrier between us.”

Taoming Ye couldn’t help but laugh: ”Things between us are so clear, so straightforward, so sweet and honeyed and blissfully happy—how could any barrier wedge its way in?”

Su Xing immediately nodded happily and said, ”True!”

”It’s just...” Taoming Ye sighed again, ”Father must be feeling really awful.” He didn’t care what happened to Taoming Hai, but he did care quite a bit about that father, Tao Chengyin.

”Even if Father feels awful, there’s nothing to be done. Who told them to do such evil things? They deserve their punishment.”

”Mm.” Other than nodding, Taoming Ye didn’t know what else he should say.

Su Xing, however, said, ”Because Taoming Hai has been imprisoned and could die at any time, Mrs. Cao has already fallen ill.”

She paused, then lowered her voice. ”Once Taoming Hai dies, she’ll definitely blame his death on us. Maybe she’ll be so agitated that she’ll poison you again, and poison me too, so we can go down together to keep her son company. She only has this one son. Once this son dies, all her hopes are gone. She really might do something like that. From now on we have to be even more careful, in case she finds an opening and sends the two of us to our deaths.”

”Mm.” Taoming Ye nodded in agreement.

Su Xing and Taoming Ye kept talking like this until it was almost dawn, and only then did Su Xing, her eyelids drooping, fall asleep.

Taoming Ye didn’t sleep. He lay there, looking at, and keeping company with, his precious little wife who was also lying beside him, but already fast asleep.

His precious little wife was asleep, yet the corners of her mouth were still tilted upward, looking very happy.

Watching her, Taoming Ye’s heart felt warm and sweet. Only she cherished him like this, cared about him this much.

...

At daybreak, after An Jing and Su Changyi finished breakfast and still hadn’t seen Su Xing get up, they grew a bit worried.

So An Jing and Su Changyi went to stand outside Su Xing’s bedroom door and knocked.

”Xin’er? Xin’er?” An Jing called.

Su Xing was woken up by the noise. Before she could answer, Taoming Ye—who hadn’t slept at all since he woke up—answered for her: ”Mother-in-law, Xin’er is still sleeping. Míngyè is already awake. You needn’t worry anymore, Mother-in-law. I also ask that Mother-in-law inform Father-in-law, so he can be at ease as well. I must ask Mother-in-law’s pardon; Míngyè is currently injured and cannot get up to pay his respects to you.”
