Chapter 1848: Chapter 1849: Empress of Wufeng

After seeing off Ye Zhi and the others, Su Chengyu smiled and said, ”Brother Yi’s sister-in-law, I’ll be leaving in a few days as well.”

An Jing smiled and replied, ”Let’s discuss it when the time comes. For now, enjoy your stay; the environment here is quite nice.”

”Ah.” Su Chengyu nodded with a gentle smile.

An Jing took a sip of tea before smiling again, ”I think if you’re able to stay a few more days here, it’s likely that Mu Chen, that child, already has the ability to take charge independently, right?”

Su Chengyu laughed, ”He is to inherit the throne in the future, so it’s good that he can manage state affairs now.”

”Indeed, it’s very good, it makes things easier for you.”

”Whether it’s easier or not doesn’t matter much; the main thing is I’m relieved. Even if something happens to me in the future, I don’t have to worry about Xiyun.”

An Jing immediately scolded, ”Don’t talk like that. Always think positively; you’re healthy now, surely you’ll live a long life.”

Su Chengyu smiled, ”Mu Chen is filial. He works so hard to manage so many state affairs now just to ease my burden and to make sure my health remains good.”

”Seeing how much the child hopes for you to be healthy, you should think positively. Stop talking about accidents; neither Brother Yi nor I like to hear such things.”

”Ah,” Su Chengyu smiled again and nodded, ”I won’t say it anymore, none of it.” He also wishes nothing unexpected happens to him.

As his hand reached for the teacup, the cup barely touched his lips when Su Chengyu thought of something, ”By the way, Brother Yi’s sister-in-law, when I return, I’d like to take Jing’er back with me, as I want him to handle a matter.”

”What matter?” An Jing asked, puzzled.

Su Yi Jing, who was sitting nearby, looked towards Su Chengyu upon hearing this, also unaware of any matter he had to attend to.

Su Chengyu said, ”I want Jing’er to go to Wufeng as the Prince of Xiyun to congratulate the Empress of Wufeng on her marriage.”

An Jing was stunned, ”Empress?” When did this place have a female emperor? Why didn’t she know?

Su Chengyu nodded, ”Yes, an Empress. The former Emperor of Wufeng had been in poor health and only has a daughter named Feng Feiyan. Seeing that our Xiyun women can be granted titles of king or general, the Emperor of Wufeng entertained the idea of passing the throne to his only daughter. And a month ago, citing his poor health and inability to manage state affairs, the Emperor abdicated and passed the throne to Feng Feiyan.”

An Jing understood and laughed, ”Although Wufeng now has a female emperor, with Wufeng being so small, it shouldn’t warrant us sending someone as important as the Prince of Xiyun.”

Su Chengyu said, ”Sister-in-law, what you don’t know is that previously, Feng Feiyan was hunted by her royal uncle for her father wanting her to inherit the throne, and she fled into our Xiyun territory.”

”On the thirteenth day of January, she approached me and personally signed a document for eternal friendship between the two countries, requesting me to send someone as an envoy to Wufeng for friendly relations, while secretly escorting her back to her country.”

”I thought it would be good for both countries to have peace, so I agreed.”

”And from her subsequent letter, after she returned, her father shortly dealt with her royal uncle, but he managed to flee. Fearing future troubles, her father hastily abdicated and passed on the throne to her.”

”But she sent another letter a few days ago, saying that three months later she will marry one Empress and two Imperial Consorts. I think for eternal friendship between the two countries, it would be better to send a prominent person.”

An Empress is the Empress, while Imperial Consorts are actually Imperial Consorts, but since it’s inappropriate to call men consorts, they’re referred to as Imperial Consorts.
