Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1843: Chapter 1844: Good Grief, Every Single One of Them...

An Yiqing chuckled, ”Mother, you don’t need to feel pressured. We just want a sister, but if it’s a brother, we won’t mind. Look at how my brothers and I treat the fifth, sixth, and seventh brothers so well.”

An Jing thought for a moment and agreed, starting to smile again, feeling relieved. After taking a bite of the dish her husband served her, she spoke again, ”Your father said that this child in my belly, you all can name it. Have you decided what the name will be?”

As the eldest son, Su Yi Jing naturally took the lead, and said, ”We’ve already discussed it. If it’s a sister, we’ll call her ’Sweetie’; if it’s a brother, we’ll just randomly pick a name.”

An Jing and Xiao Changyi: ”...” Is the gap really necessary...

An Jing cleared her throat awkwardly and didn’t insist on the names any further with her seven sons. Instead, she asked Xiao Changyi, ”Husband, if it’s another son, what do you think the name should be?”

Since their seven sons were too lazy to name the child, it seemed best to leave the task to her husband.

Xiao Changyi didn’t think twice and said, ”Random.”

An Jing: ”...” My goodness, one after another... She had a feeling that if this birth is a boy, her husband and seven sons would definitely disdain it.

Feeling compelled, An Jing silently reached for the chili sauce next to her with her chopsticks, hoping to eat more spicy food in hopes that this child would definitely be a girl.

Even though she actually quite enjoyed eating spicy food lately.

On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, An Jing found it strange that An Yiyun still hadn’t planned on returning to the Imperial City. In previous years, An Yiyun would depart by this time, and even if she and her husband wanted him to stay one more day, he wouldn’t. But this time, without even them saying anything, he still hadn’t left.

Although having her son by her side made An Jing quite happy, she still couldn’t contain her curiosity and asked, ”Yun Er, aren’t you in a rush to return to your duties this year?”

While slowly grinding ink, An Yiyun gave An Jing a gentle smile and said, ”I’ve already asked for leave from my second uncle. I’ll return after mother gives birth to my sister. When Sweetie is born, the elder brothers are all here; how could I not be here?”

An Jing sweat dropped a bit, ”I’m only eight months pregnant now, there should be more than a month before I give birth.”

An Yiyun replied, ”But if I go back to work now, just the round-trip travel time would take more than a month. By then, I wouldn’t even have much time to work, and I might miss Sweetie’s birth. I would definitely regret it for the rest of my life.”

An Jing: ”...” What if it’s not a sister, oh dear...

With a complex emotion and after a long silence, An Jing asked again, ”From what you said earlier, your second and third brothers also plan to wait until I give birth before leaving?”

”Yeah, they all want to witness their sister’s birth, so they don’t have any regrets.”

An Jing: ”...” Dear heavens, please bless me with a daughter this time! I’m begging you!

...

After the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year, with the New Year celebrations over, An Jing and Xiao Changyi had a talk with An Yiqing, advising him not to visit the brothel anymore.

An Yiqing didn’t like being controlled, but since these were his father and mother advising him, it was only natural. He tried to maintain a pleasant demeanor, speaking politely, ”Father, Mother, I do often visit the brothel, but I don’t do anything inappropriate there. I just drink, listen to music, and admire beautiful women. Why can’t I go?”

An Jing said, ”I don’t care what you do at the brothel, it’s ultimately not a good place. You’d better not go at all.”

Xiao Changyi said, ”Listen to your mother.”
