Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1826: Chapter 1827: For Me

Qingqing was stunned.

After a long while, she finally said, ”Benefactor, I don’t quite understand what you mean. This isn’t my home. Why should I stay here forever? Besides, I’ve lost my memory. Isn’t it normal for me to want to remember who I am, why I’m here, and to want to go back home?”

Su Yi Jing immediately said, ”For me.”

”What?” Qingqing’s mind froze for a moment, unable to process what Su Yi Jing meant.

However, Su Yi Jing didn’t elaborate further, instead he corrected her calmly, ”Don’t call me Benefactor, call me ’Yi Jing’ or ’Jing’.”

”Well...” Qingqing hesitated.

Su Yi Jing’s tone became even calmer, ”I saved you, are you refusing to even call me by my name?”

”...Yi Jing.” She chose the more conservative option. Calling him Jing seemed too intimate, but Yi Jing felt acceptable.

Su Yi Jing seemed satisfied and no longer looked at her. Instead, he turned and walked away, ”I’m going home. Once you’ve had enough, you can come back too.”

For no reason, Qingqing’s face turned slightly red. Su Yi Jing’s words made her feel as though they were a young couple.

Su Yi Jing didn’t turn back, so he naturally didn’t know Qingqing’s face had turned red. He simply picked up the bundle of firewood and went home.

When Xiao Changyi saw Su Yi Jing return with the firewood, he immediately told Su Yi Jing that An Jing wanted to have fish soup again.

Since his mother wanted fish soup, how could Su Yi Jing refuse? He agreed immediately, putting down the firewood and planning to take the sharpened stick to the creek to see if he could catch more fish.

Seeing Su Yi Jing like this, An Jing chuckled, ”There’s no need to hurry. You can go tomorrow.”

Su Yi Jing said, ”Qingqing is by the creek.”

An Jing was initially taken aback, then she laughed again, ”So you’re afraid she’ll run away, and you’re keeping an eye on her while catching fish.”

Having his thoughts exposed, Su Yi Jing wasn’t the least bit embarrassed or annoyed.

Su Yi Jing said no more, and with the sharpened stick in hand, he left. But he hadn’t walked far from the yard before he saw Qingqing walking back leisurely. The way she walked, her demeanor and behavior, he truly knew that she shouldn’t be an ordinary person. But what does that matter?

He only knew that she was the one he had his eyes on. And now, she had returned.

Su Yi Jing’s expression was unchanged, but a hint of joy flickered in his eyes.

Qingqing’s face was no longer red. Upon seeing Su Yi Jing again, she simply asked politely, ”Going out again?”

”Yes, my mother wants more fish soup, so I’m going to the creek to catch fish.”

Qingqing glanced at the sharpened stick in Su Yi Jing’s hand, then continued to walk gracefully forward into the yard.

Su Yi Jing turned to glance at Qingqing, seeing her enter the yard, he was finally reassured and continued towards the creek.

Yesterday, because he found Shi Shi, Su Yi Jing had only caught two fish. Today, before the sun was about to set, Su Yi Jing had caught seven fish. Three fish were kept for the family, two were used for soup, and one was braised.

The remaining four fish were given to Meng Lanqing and Meng Zhuqing—two each.

Previously, because Qingqing had dizziness, she hadn’t eaten with An Jing and the others. Su Yi Jing would deliver the meal to Qingqing’s room for her to eat. Now that she was no longer dizzy, she got out of bed and moved around, so for this dinner, Qingqing ate at the table with An Jing and the others.

Looking at the many spicy dishes on the table, Qingqing, who wasn’t very fond of spicy food, could only pick out those that weren’t spicy to eat.

Su Yi Jing noticed that Qingqing didn’t like spicy food, but he didn’t say anything. However, he already made a mental note to stand alongside his father next time he cooks and ensure fewer chili peppers are added to the pot, so she would have something to eat.
