Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1830: Chapter 1831: Sweet

”Here you go.”

After hitting twice with the bamboo pole, the jujubes fell to the ground with a rustle, and Qingqing felt satisfied. She returned the bamboo pole to Su Yi Jing with a relaxed smile.

Su Yi Jing didn’t take it, ”Keep hitting.”

He had never seen her so relaxed before, and he hoped to continue seeing her smile like this.

Even though she had lost her memory, Qingqing had a feeling that this unruly act of hitting jujubes wasn’t something she should do. Besides, she was already satisfied after hitting twice, so she shook her head and didn’t continue.

Su Yi Jing didn’t insist. Instead, he took the bamboo pole, climbed the tree again, and hit several more times.

Every place he hit, the jujubes never landed on Qingqing’s head.

When he had hit enough, Su Yi Jing came down from the tree and joined Qingqing in picking up the jujubes on the ground. He picked one up, casually wiped it on his clothes, and then put it in his mouth.

The jujube was crispy and sweet.

It prompted him to immediately wipe another large jujube on his clothes and give it to Qingqing, letting her eat it.

Qingqing, who was picking up jujubes on the ground, was first shocked, then took the large jujube. But instead of eating it, she hesitated, looking at the jujube Su Yi Jing had given her.

Seeing her like this, Su Yi Jing immediately understood. He grabbed a few jujubes from the basket and ran to the nearby brook to wash them clean. Only then did he run back to give them to Qingqing.

Qingqing didn’t immediately take them. Instead, she took out her handkerchief, wiped her hands clean, and then began to eat the washed jujubes slowly and with great elegance.

Observing Qingqing’s meticulousness, Su Yi Jing could tell that Qingqing was definitely not a girl from an ordinary family. An ordinary family’s girl wouldn’t be this particular, so he wasn’t surprised by Qingqing’s behavior.

He only asked after seeing Qingqing start eating the jujubes, ”Is it sweet?”

Qingqing nodded, ”Sweet.”

Su Yi Jing rarely smiled at Qingqing, but he did so now then bent over and resumed picking up jujubes from the ground.

Qingqing was somewhat stunned. Did he... just smile at her? They’ve known each other for several days now, but she hadn’t seen him smile before. Today was the first time.

An unusual emotion slowly spread in her heart. Qingqing pursed her lips and continued eating the jujubes in her hand.

They had brought only one basket, and about a full basket of jujubes had been picked, so Su Yi Jing and Qingqing didn’t stay on the mountain any longer. Once they finished picking up the jujubes, they went home. An Jing was very happy eating the crispy sweet jujubes.

...

Su Yi Jing helped An Jing not only with chopping wood but also had another task, which was herding sheep.

Originally, there were three sheep at home, tended by three little beauties, but since the three beauties were now at Slayer Tower, and Xiao Changyi had to take care of An Jing, who was pregnant, Su Yi Jing felt he had nothing much to do. So instead of troubling Meng Zhuqing to do it, he took it upon himself.

That day, Su Yi Jing was about to go out to herd sheep when he saw Qingqing alone outside the courtyard picking wildflowers. Every gesture Qingqing made was extraordinarily graceful; even just picking flowers was as beautiful as a painting.

Without any hesitation, Su Yi Jing walked over and asked, ”Would you like to come with me to herd sheep?”

Qingqing was a bit troubled, ”I don’t know how to herd sheep...” She had been staying there for ten days, and in those ten days, she had realized she seemed to not know how to do any chores, not even recognizing the local farmer’s dishes.

The last time she helped weed the vegetable garden, she ended up pulling out quite a bit of the vegetables too.

Luckily, nobody blamed her.
