Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1822: Chapter 1823: I Brought Someone Home

An Jing thought that the creek wasn’t very deep, and Su Yi Jing had nothing to do. Since Su Yi Jing wanted to show his filial piety by catching fish and making soup for her, An Jing didn’t stop him and let Su Yi Jing go to the creek with a sharpened wooden stick after breakfast.

Once he arrived at the creek, Su Yi Jing took off his shoes and then stepped into the water.

He waited for a while, seeing no fish nearby, so he walked upstream a bit.

Finally, he managed to stab a fairly large crucian carp.

After placing the crucian carp on the shore, Su Yi Jing continued to catch fish, moving upstream some more.

When another fish swam to his feet, Su Yi Jing quickly and accurately plunged the stick down, catching another fish.

Just as Su Yi Jing was taking the fish off the stick, out of the corner of his eye he noticed what seemed to be a person in blue clothing lying by the riverside not far upstream. His eyebrows slightly furrowed, he placed the fish on the shore and walked toward that person.

It was indeed a person.

The person was lying on the riverside, hair scattered, half of the body in the water. Su Yi Jing bent down and turned them over, discovering it was a girl of about fourteen or fifteen.

Having probably been in the water for a long time, the face was slightly swollen, but through the delicate features, one could tell that the girl was quite pretty.

Su Yi Jing didn’t see any other injuries on the girl, but found her forehead bruised and red, swollen severely, though the water had turned the surface somewhat pale.

He put his fingers by the girl’s nose and discovered she was still breathing. Only then did Su Yi Jing carry the girl on his back, grab the two large crucian carps he’d caught, and head home.

Upon entering, he saw An Jing watching Xiao Changyi clear weeds from the vegetable garden, and said, ”Dad, Mom, I picked someone up.”

”What?” An Jing was momentarily confused. Then, seeing a dripping person on Su Yi Jing’s back, she reacted. ”What’s wrong with this girl?”

”I don’t know, I found her while fishing.” Su Yi Jing casually handed the fish to Xiao Changyi.

Xiao Changyi didn’t even look at the person on Su Yi Jing’s back. He took the fish and went to clean them.

An Jing urged Su Yi Jing to quickly take the person to the guest room and lay her down.

”Should we call a doctor to check her?” An Jing looked at the girl on the bed and asked Su Yi Jing.

Su Yi Jing replied, ”She isn’t feverish, her breathing is stable, she seems fine, probably don’t need one.”

An Jing glanced at the girl’s attire, the fabric was top-grade material, ”This girl surely isn’t from an ordinary family, ordinary families wouldn’t wear such fine cloth.”

Su Yi Jing said nothing.

An Jing didn’t push Su Yi Jing to speak, but returned to her room to get a set of clothes, then urged Su Yi Jing to go out, ”You go on out, I’ll change the girl’s clothes, lest she catches a chill.”

Only then did Su Yi Jing leave.

But before An Jing could change the girl’s clothes, Xiao Changyi knocked and entered, bringing Tobanya along.

Upon entering, Tobanya said, ”Let me change this girl instead. Madam, you’re pregnant, so it’s better not to do these tasks.”

Without allowing An Jing to argue, Xiao Changyi escorted An Jing out of the guest room. An Jing felt both amused and sweetened. It was evident that Tobanya was called by her husband.

After changing the girl’s clothes, Tobanya casually treated the injury on her forehead.

The girl didn’t wake up until the sun had set.
