COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Hachiman then continued to play with Ragdoll Cat.

After a while, a beautiful girl with straight black hair came to Hachiman.

It has a light fragrance.

This is Horikita Suzune.

Today is weekend, and it is also day the two of them agreed to go to supermarket together.

Although Hachiman often eats lunch with Sakayanagi, he usually chooses to have dinner with Suzune.

The price was that he had to pay for his own meal, and then help carry things when the refrigerator was replenished.

“Wait a moment. You go to the supermarket first, I’ll find a student from Class A to return the cat.”

Just find any student in Class A, that means a child of 2nd grade from Sakayanagi’s can be asked to do his work so casually.

Suzune has already calmed down about this matter.

“I just met someone with the same style as you. But she is better than you. I’m sorry, Horikita.”

“.....” Suzune immediately stared at him with piercing eyes, was she being copyrighted by others?

“You’re wrong. I think this year’s freshmen give people a good impression!”

“• •” Suzune kept her eyes focused on Hachiman’s neck, for some reason she had a feeling or just an urge to leave a bite mar-----

“.....” Suzune realised her thoughts were going haywire, she reflected upon her attitude, “But according to the custom of previous years, for the freshmen, this month is to test behavior and discover uniqueness of this school.”

“I think point will be broken early.”

“What?”

“If it were the same as in previous years, then it would be like usual. But now Chairman has changed.....”

Will things be different if the chairman is changed? Of course!

Next day.

On Monday, all students went to the classroom.

However, after moving to a new building and arriving at the classroom, Hachiman and others discovered that a major overhaul had been made to equipment.

The level of desks was instantly upgraded, and each student was assigned an iPad with a large screen.

It seems that future lectures can be used in conjunction with the iPad.

It’s not as simple as just relying on books.

The blackboard was also replaced with a huge LCD screen, which gave people a sense of replacing a musket with a cannon.

The students looked at and tested the new equipment curiously.

“The school is really willing to spend money.” Suzune, who was sitting at Hachiman’s right seat, suddenly said.

”Yeah,” Hachiman nodded, feeling a little bit surprised, but at same time he was not, “At least this school lives up to its claims that resources are second to none. Besides, I think this change should be related to upcoming special exam. Also, can you please stop talking to me now?”

“• ? •” Suzune who again felt her lines were being stolen, ’You don’t want to talk to me first. Are you saying you are busy now?’

Hikigaya-kun is busy.

At the beginning of each semester, he only does one thing. That is to follow a person with your eyes.

The other person had already arrived in classroom and quietly picked up her book.

Then when his eyes moved subconsciously, he suddenly realized that someone was staring at him.

“Good morning, Sakura,” Hachiman greeted after confirming that other person was looking at him.

“Good morning--!” Sakura responded very cautiously. Then she tentatively reached out her hand and waved at him.

“That’s great. Sakura is still the same as before!”

“.....” Suzune, who felt this boy was hopeless.

But if you just look at Sakura’s reaction, most boys would find it cute.

And, Suzune couldn’t do such a thing.

It’s just that now is the time when students who have been away for a holiday come back to the classroom one after another.

Very quickly.

Hasebe Haruka, a gossipy student, came to the new classroom and was also surprised by the school’s replacement equipment, but soon her attention was focused on another person who came.

“Kushida-san?!”

She was surprised.

Following her gaze, everyone else looked in the direction of Kikyo Kushida.

The result was they all looked frightened.

Kushida-chan, who usually has short hair, has started growing her hair long, and now they are just past her shoulders.

Although she has always been a little angel, Kushida-chan now gives people a very different feeling.

If I were to describe it. Then, cuteness is increased by another 20%.

After all, most boys like long hair.

So even though Kushida-chan is usually cute, and her short hair suits her well, but as expected… long hair is a bit of a surprise.

Kushida-chan has many admirers and fans.

Ike, who was seen wanting to invite Shinohara before, was the first to be affected.

“Kushida-chan suddenly changed her hairstyle... could it be... could it be that she had a broken heart?!” This sentence immediately caused a commotion among the boys.

When you read novels, it says that if a girl suddenly decides to change her hairstyle, many times it’s because she wants to make up her mind to change herself, or... she’s heartbroken.

“Idiot, you only go for a haircut when you’re heartbroken!”

Immediately a girl responded to Ike, who also discovered that person who responded to him was Shinohara.

She must have shown that he cared too much about Kushida. But, Ike was really concerned about the changes.

“So, the reason why Kushida-san’s hair is suddenly growing longer now is—” The person asking question now was Matsushita Chiaki.

She usually hangs out in Karuizawa’s small group, but she also has a good superficial relationship with Kushida.

They went shopping together several times for appearance’s sake.

Her hair grew to a little above her shoulders, neither too long nor too short.

She was probably considering whether to let it grow longer.

“Because it’s a new semester, I want to change to a new style...hehe~” Kushida-chan said like a very mature girl, which even made boys feel like she was too cute and precious.

Must be protected at all costs!

“I see... Yes, we are already sophomores now.”

“I saw the first graders yesterday. They looked just like us when we first entered school....”

“But they are also very pitiful. They probably don’t realize that school will not deposit that much living expenses next month.....”

Many students have already started talking about new semester and tragedy of students.

Or in other words, it must be turned.

Kushida-chan is very popular, and everyone is worried that she changed her hairstyle because of her love life, men, or something else.

If people knew, a lot of people would be heartbroken.

“Kushida’s popularity is still so high...”

“It’s really surprising, but I also think it’s natural by now....” Because of the bet with Kushida, she also learned about her past experiences. ’Then I learned that although Kushida-san had acted out of character once, she still showed no remorse and continued to behave in high school in the same way she had acted out in the past.....Then, you hope to become friends with others, and at the same time get into their hearts, learn secrets, and curse behind everyone’s back when they aren’t looking. She seems to enjoy talking shit about her so-called friends and laugh.....But, it’s still normal to gain a lot of popularity. From a certain perspective, Kushida-san’s power cannot be denied....’

“But you don’t seem to be surprised at all by Kushida-san’s change,” She hadn’t seen her much during this holiday, so today was the first time she saw her with long hair.

But Hikigaya-kun didn’t seem surprised at all.

“A cute girl is cute no matter how she changes her hairstyle. I think Kushida-san is very cute...”

“…..” ’Is that so? You even used same word 3 times....In other words, if you think Kushida-san is cute, she is cute no matter what?’

“...Has your opinion of Kushida-san improved a bit?” Suzune keenly noticed the changes in Hikigaya-kun.

No. In fact, it has decreased!

After sending third graders away, one day, Kushida-chan suddenly contacted him and used the strategy of acting like a spoiled child.

Hachiman immediately understood that other party must be feeling a crisis, thinking that new students were about to enter the school, and some of them might be from the same school as her, or even know her dark history.

Then at night, other party came to his dormitory.

Hachiman wondered what she was going to do, then suddenly held his hand.

It’s really scary.

’I thought she might have taken the wrong medicine. She’s still the same as before, with no IQ! You should know that clothes are basically undetectable and cannot leave fingerprints!’

That wasn’t the case.

“I know you signed an agreement with Ichinose-san. But...I also have many things that she can’t give you right now.” In other words, Kushida is comparing herself with Ichinose.

But this also means that she cannot accept being expelled and needs to stay in this school.

This is where she lives.

Moreover, Kushida-chan was even willing to help support Komachi in the future, and for this reason alone, Hachiman had no way of rejecting her.

He thinks Horikita Manabu doesn’t understand his sister, but he knows his own very well.

Komachi is actually similar to Suzune in one way.

People change easily. But he believed that his and Komachi’s thoughts would not change.

If Komachi grows up to be disabled, he will definitely support her.

And if he becomes a disabled person, Komachi will definitely support him.

This is an agreement between the two siblings since childhood.

’But Kushida is really amazing. I thought she had reached her limit, but it turns out she can still grow up...However, she really grew her hair long according to my preference, which means she really doesn’t want to be expelled....In order to respond to her mentality, I have to do something this time.’

Hikigaya-kun is still reminiscing.

But it happened quickly.

“After all, haven’t you achieved your goal yet?” Suzune’s voice came from the side. This child has a very unique trait: she is very straightforward and cannot recognize the atmosphere.

“....What do you mean?”

“I know, the points you have now are enough for you to go to any class.”

“Indeed, but I want to wait a little longer. It is foolish to rely on yourself or the class alone to collect points, so freshmen are a good choice. Besides, although I am willing to go to other classes, it is not me who wants to go, but others who buy me. I will not spend money on it.....”

’Is that so? You still value money so much. But if he can be bought by other classes, it means that everyone knows your importance and is willing to spend money on you. This is a sign of recognition from other classes. Wait a moment!’ Suzune suddenly discovered the information revealed in Hikigaya’s previous conversation.

“Freshman? Does that mean there will be a joint exam for first and second years? This kind of thing - isn’t this just the first month...”

As Suzune was speaking, she noticed Chabashira Sae walking in with the clatter of her high-heeled shoes.
