COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

“......” Katsuragi felt like he was giving an interview without even being aware of, “I should be voting for you.”

“That’s it, I approve your admission. You should work with Hikigaya-kun first. Start with his job and get familiar with it. Also, members of the student council receive subsidies from the school. President gets 100,000 yen a month, while VP gets 80,000, and ordinary positions get 50,000 a month....It is distributed by the school’s finance department along with living expenses on 1st of every month, so even if you start coming in now, you will not receive the subsidy until next month.....”

“That’s not a problem----” Although he is very dissatisfied with Sakayanagi, Katsuragi has a big picture perspective.

’Now, under leadership of Sakayanagi, the class has returned to A. But, I still owe Ryuen 4 million in debt. Repay 100,000 points every month. It also takes a long time. So, now I can add another 50,000 yen per month to my living expenses, and I can pay off my debt faster.....After all, I don’t want to have to earn money to pay back the debt after graduation....or work under him...knowing Ryuen, his future I can make out. That would be putting the cart before the horse.’

“I accept,” So Katsuragi walked over to Hikigaya and asked about the rules and solutions for the matter.

This is start of work today.

“First, teach Katsuragi-kun how to become proficient,” Seeing Hikigaya-kun looking over, Arisu said very seriously, “Then you can give him the job and test him.”

’Test him....That is to say, I can push the work to Katsuragi!’ Hikigaya-kun looked over, with a disbelief glint in his eyes. ’Because where did this nice girl Sakayanagi Arisu come from? So, I can also do some slacking off? Originally, I had the mindset of doing my best since I had accepted the job, but now, suddenly felt that... it was acceptable if I could relax a little. After all, I am just a human being, not a tireless tool, right? My classmates in the group have been having fun together for a long time during the holidays.....Although, I received many invitations on his phone, could not go because I had to report to Student council and go to work....’

Hachiman did his best to not grin at his new employee like mad.

In this way, Hikigaya-kun finally has some free time during his vacation.

Looking at some of the invitations received on phone.

Hikigaya-kun decided to go meet someone that he had hoped to meet since Nagumo left school that day.

He sent a message to other party.

The location was a cafe on shopping street, called Alice Cafe, and he went straight to the private room on second floor.

One side of the private room is a large floor-to-ceiling window, through which you can see the scene outside and the street below, and view is very wide.

Only, Gently stirring his coffee, Hikigaya’s eyes fell on the girl opposite him with beautiful long orange hair and a sunflower-shaped hairpin.

The other person’s name is also related to sunflower.

Asahina Nazuna.

In half a month, new students will enter school, so she will be a senior in Class A of third grade.

But she is also Nagumo Miyabi’s childhood sweetheart.

Assisted Hachiman in Ichinose rumor incident.

At that time, she thought that if things continued like this, she would not be confident about stability of her class.

Now... Nagumo has flown away.

Grade 2 Class A felt the crisis.

Since Nagumo can rule the second grade, it will definitely be useful for her class.

However, if Nagumo is gone, then rule will be lost, and according to the original members of their Class A, will definitely not be able to control it.

Now have to face a very cruel class competition.

“So,” Hachiman took the initiative to talk, “Asahina-senpai, what is the matter with you asking me out now that your best friend Nagumo is gone? Also, we can see below from the second floor, but because the window glass is not protected, people below can also see us if they look up. It’s not good to be witnessed like this. After all, we are in different grades.”

“.....” Asahina-senpai felt like his tone was not right, ’In fact, it would be better if it was witnessed.....’

’Because, now that Miyabi has left school, class competition for second graders who are about to become 3rd-years is about to begin. Although quality of the CD class is relatively poor, it has advantage of having more people....For example, if a few people take the dropout exam, at least still have a reserve army of dropouts, so there will be no fighting among anyone who leaves....But for my sophomore class A, situation was not good. After all, there are few people. Moreover, Kiriyama, who is slightly weaker than Miyabi, is still there, and onKiriyama’s side... there is actually another strong person who has not taken any action...If he can persuade Fuka-chan, then my A status will be in danger....Although Miyabi had left, I took over the baton and became class representative...But whether everyone is so convinced is hard to say.....Therefore, now if someone saw me with Vice President of student council, it might be a little shocking....But this kind of thinking is very utilitarian. It was a very painful thing for me who initially hoped to have a pure love relationship....’

But she still said, “Actually, before leaving school, Miyabi entrusted me with a task.....”

“Let me guess, he once hoped to borrow money from President Sakayanagi and me. But can’t do it, because person who expelled him was former student council president, but I think it was school’s intention.....You also know rules, and that second-year students have not been promoted under Nagumo’s rule. So, even if he escapes expulsion now, he will still be removed later.....”

“Um...It seems like you understand a lot,” Asahina nodded. ’At the same time, I looked at Hikigaya with some surprise. In previous Ichinose rumor incident, Miyabi’s plan was blocked. At that time, I just thought that Hikigaya’s action was decisive, and he also asked the school to make a big deal out of matter.....But look now, this junior might not be simple either....I guess it’s definitely not easy...Maybe, I should use honorifics, he is Vice-president after all....’

After Asahina returned at that time, she investigated all first-year students and found out this Hikigaya-kun’s class had been promoted to A.

’Although it has fallen down now, it is only Class B. But this is someone who actually climbed up from Class D! And or as he said, Miyabi was expelled... because he violated the school rules.’

“I don’t think you need to worry that much, Senpai. Just ask in advance, it’s not being recorded right now, right?”

“Of course not!” Asahina quickly put her phone on the table. ’I didn’t want to become estranged from this junior because of such a petty thing. ’Selfishly, this boy is one who picked up my amulet. But for the public, other party is vice president of the student council. At the same time, he has been confirmed to be a capable person. It would be stupid to make an enemy of him!’

“What you are worried about now is the competition among classes, and whether Class A, where you are now, can maintain its advantage.”

Because he carried a small notebook with him, Hachiman wrote a column of numbers on a piece of paper.

Grade 2

Class A: 1646 point

Class B 1244 points

Class C: 799 points

Class D, 634 points

“Among them, Nagumo probably raised scores of Class C and Class D in order to collect points in past few months. These are all plans that he came up with to quickly gather points....And now it has become a serious problem.”

This is a serious concern. Who could have thought that after Nagumo Miyabi assigned points, he would be fired?

Class C and D were originally garbage, but now their scores have been raised, and with advantage in numbers, it is worrying.

As for second-year Class B, they were the former Class A, and were suppressed because of a strong person like Nagumo.

Miyabi would expel any student in his class who opposed his plan, but he did not do such a strong job on the second-year Class B.

As a result, Class B had other fighting forces besides Kiriyama.

Especially Kiryuin Fuka, who excels in physical fitness, academic ability, and motor nerves.

“Yes, before dropping out of school, Miyabi plundered all points of three classes of BCD....So now, apart from the 1 million I gave to student council, I still have 6 million.....”

Asahina still has 6 million in her hands, and it is obvious that Nagumo is betting on her.

“Oh?”

This kind of ominous tone made Asahina somewhat happy, because this Hikigaya-kun is really smart.

“Miyabi has given me all his points, and have only one request. When the class graduates, if we are Grade 3A, then at time of graduation, gather all points of class and buy him back.”

This approach is really Nagumo.

“Not feasible, Because he was expelled, class will gradually lose faith.....”

“Yes, but I also want to graduate as an A-class student, and there is no other way without relying on the class....”

“Then have you considered collecting 20 million points? And as for Nagumo’s 6 million....I have the authority to convert points into cash in advance, so you can give me the points and I will convert them into cash, and then you can send it to Nagumo for him to check and see.”

“This is-----”

This even surprised Asahina.

“If you feel that you can’t complete Nagumo’s mission, return it back to him. Otherwise, he will always be a shackle to you, right?”

“.....” Asahina was speechless hearing word “Shackle”.

’Childhood sweethearts. And to be fair, Miyabi was pretty nice to me. If I can gather 20 million points to help, it would be fine. But it’s a pity. The situation is too cruel. Let’s not talk about whether the current position in Class A can be retained. There is still a shortfall of 14 million. Even if everyone contributes 700,000, it may not be enough.....So, Miyabi gave me a big problem. And now, Hikigaya-kun’s suggestion is... to let me refuse to complete Miyabi’s commission?’

“This is just my suggestion, senpai. You have the right to choose. After all, you are in school now, and how you will develop in the future depends solely on you. But, I suggest you choose the one that is more likely to be realized....Now that Nagumo has dropped out, second grade will definitely fall apart, but in the process, they may be obedient once or twice, and I think you can seize these one or two opportunities to gather 20 million points for yourself. If you gather that amount, then you won’t have to worry about anything, right?”

’Damn it, he is right! How will my future develop? Even if I really graduate as Class A, will be resisted if I collect all the points at that time, so will be difficult.....What I could use now were some fools that Miyabi had just left behind to save my own ass....His request is really an obstacle for me!’

“......” Asahina felt like she suddenly gained a new kind of insight, and felt a sense of enlightenment.

In afternoon, Chairman Tsukishiro received a new request.

Asahina quickly removed the restraints on her body, and Hachiman did not leave the shopping street immediately after drinking his coffee.

On the one hand, it’s almost time for dinner. You can choose a store nearby.

Then, when Hachiman looked down from the second floor, he saw some interesting sights. ’Isn’t that Matsushita from my class, and she seems to be following Ayanokoji.....?’

She was discovered by Tsukishiro.

As for Matsushita, Hachiman is actually somewhat interested in her. ’She was a problem child in Class D, but she was probably the type who hid her strength. Her curiosity seemed to be strong too....’

Indeed, Chiaki Matsushita is very curious, even felt a bit superior. She knew it when she was very young.

She was born into a wealthy family, and her parents hired a tutor for her, and responded with good grades.

She is a top student.

From the first grade of elementary school to 3rd grade of junior high school, she never ranked second in any exam.

Then in future, you will grow up, fall in love, and then probably marry a man who is financially and capable.

Then live a happy life.

That’s what it should be. She also felt that her life would become like this. But, there’s always a strange feeling.

Um....probably too smooth.

Then, one day, when she was in 3rd year of junior high school, principal told her there was a peculiar school and asked her whether she wanted to enter it.

Advanced Nurturing High School.

That’s right here.

During the interview, she found out that school examined students based on their grades and in various other ways.

She smartly realized this must be related to class divisions.

This amused her.

She did not show her strong strength, chose to keep a low profile.

That’s how it is now. Maintaining an above-par position in the class, but continuing to let things slide.
