COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

“• 💢 •” Sakayanagi.

“Sakayanagi, you alright?” At this time, Hachiman was looking at her with a bit of doubt in his eyes.

“.....” Sakayanagi, ’It’s okay.....’ She finally put down her hand that was about to send a command to Kamuro-san for confirmation through her mobile phone.

Because she almost got into trouble just now. It’s getting weird.

Become like a jealous, unwilling, and paranoid loser.

This is not the kind of relationship that Sakayanagi wants.

She felt that love she experienced for the first time was something much more beautiful.

“It’s probably because I wasted a lot of energy playing chess today. But the conditions I promised you are still valid. From now on, right to use this room will be transferred to you for three hours....But you don’t mind if I read a book here, right?”

She is indeed reading a book now.

[5 Centimeters per Second] is a work by Makoto Shinkai.

There is a library seal on bottom of the book, probably because it was arranged for Kamuro-san to borrow.

Sakayanagi is actually a book lover as well.

She is a genius, possessing a very high intelligence and a strong ability to learn on her own, but genius people often have one characteristic.

Standing on the shoulders of giants.

’I read a lot of books and like to supplement my knowledge. Reading is a good channel......’

“Please do as you please, this is your room. If you read a book, I can just play a game....” Hachiman then took out his phone again and opened the chess game.

In the small room, on coffee table, Hikigaya-kun was playing games quietly.

Sakayanagi is reading a book.

Kamuro-san...Oh, She is in kitchen.

“Is your vision bad?” Hachiman was defeated in chess and had to watch the commercial again to get a chance to fight back.

While waiting for the commercial, he suddenly looked up and asked, “Do you usually wear contact lenses or something.....?”

“Not really,” Sakayanagi shook her head, “These are decorative plain glasses, same as the ones you are wearing. This is a thank you gift from Sakura-san for tutoring her....”

’I see. I think glasses Sakayanagi wears match her perfectly, giving her a fresh and cute feeling +3. It turned out that Sakura, a professional in this field, chose it. Today I also wore purple plain glasses that Sakura chose for me at the beginning, which complemented the look perfectly. They are all Sakura’s work and credit.’

“But” Hachiman noticed that Sakayanagi’s tone suddenly changed at this time, “You actually paid special attention to my condition. Are you feeling guilty or what? This is so cute!” She suddenly put one hand on her chin and said something extremely shocking.

Wow. Is this girl a devil? Suddenly, she said something terrible.

Hachiman suddenly thought of something. That was when he and Sakayanagi were in the audience seats of sports festival, watching their classmates’ 1200-meter relay race.

At that time, Sakayanagi offered him 20 million points.

Invite him to her class.

She said that she recognized his ability and invited him to her class, but Hachiman felt at that time Sakayanagi was just confessing her love.

At that time, he avoided it.

’Sakayanagi...is it possible that I actually have feelings for her? What’s even worse is that I have recently been having dreams about marrying her....Although most of the dream was about the tragedy of being tricked into going to work, which I didn’t want to recall. But, it’s impossible to dream for no reason.....’

Hikigaya-san suddenly felt that...staying in Sakayanagi’s room now might not be a good idea.

Instead, it made him feel uneasy.

[You have finished watching the ad and have a chance to continue the challenge]

At this time, the phone prompts that the game can continue.

“…”

Hachiman finally calmed down.

So, he started focusing on the game. But mind was full of rationality. He doesn’t like gentle girls because she may be acting towards everyone.

At the same time, he also hated himself for being overly conscious.

Unauthorized misunderstandings, expectations, unauthorized imposition of one’s own ideas on others, and then disappointment.

Marrying a rich loli will make you unhappy.

The Sakayanagi family has only one heir, Arisu, so she will definitely become the next chairman, but due to her physical condition, her body cannot support her high-intensity work.

“…” Better ask.

“Sakayanagi....”

”Um?”

“Is position of Chairman of the board of directors of Advanced Nurturing High School hereditary in your family?”

“.....” Sakayanagi found him weird more than usual, “It has only been seventeen years since the establishment of Advanced Nurturing High School. However,” she thought for a moment, “As for my family’s business, I should be the only one who can inherit it. My father got the position of chairman from my grandfather, so if nothing unexpected happens, I will also take over the position from my father.”

’Is that so? You will be the next chairman of Advanced Nurturing High School.’ Hikigaya-kun suddenly felt his heart strangely calm.

’Isn’t this the same as Horikita? As long as you have any feelings for them, you have to inherit their family’s job. This kind of thing...don’t do it.’

’Because thought of being assigned to work all time and not being able to rest much makes me feel uncomfortable....’

Hikigaya-kun found that his wavering heart had strangely calmed down.

’Like this. When I look at Horikita again, I just think she’s pretty, but when I look at Sakayanagi, I just think she’s cute. But my heart has become calm....’ Then, Hikigaya-kun started to play the game happily.

Sakayanagi stared at him blankly for a while, then turned her attention back to the book.

“……Paow--”

But there were not only him and Arisu in room, there was also Kamuro-san who served as her servant.

However, Kamuro-san seemed to not care what her owner was doing or what he was going to do, as long as she wasn’t called, so since two of them were in room, she would just continue to stay in the kitchen.

She continued to scroll through her phone.

Since she has few friends, probably just reads news on the school forum.

She ignored this place, Hachiman and Arisu of course ignored her too.

It’s already 3 o’clock in afternoon since he came in at 1 o’clock.

After losing 30 chess games in a row and having to watch more than 60 advertisements in vain, Hikigaya-kun chose to delete this junk software.

It should be about time now.

So, after putting away his phone, Hikigaya-kun prepared to leave, “Thank you for bothering me. I’m going back now....”

“Please go ahead,” Sakayanagi put down the book and said, “Then I don’t owe you anything....”

“You are so kind.” Hikigaya-kun nodded, then stood up and walked towards the entrance.

Sakayanagi was still reading calmly.

Of course one copy of 5 Centimeters per Second was not enough, so she changed to another one halfway through.

Still from the same author, The Garden of Words.

It tells the story of an ordinary high school student and a self-abandoned female teacher, and it is about love.

It can also be said to be a healing thing for her.

In general, books Sakayanagi reads recently tend to be more about romance.

“Boom!”

Hikigaya-kun has already left the room and closed the door.

“Meh! Reading is so tiring......” Arisu put the book down and seemed to complain.

“…”

Kamuro-san, who was sitting on the bed and being ignored, had no expression on her face.

Because Hikigaya was playing with his phone over at the table, while Sakayanagi was reading a book....Her cell phone was out of battery, so Kamuro-san came out of the kitchen early and sat in a corner.

She had nothing to do so she could only watch people.

She saw that in 3 hours, which was actually two hours and forty-six minutes, Sakayanagi Arisu only read for 33 minutes.

Then she began to lose focus, and was in a daze for about 19 minutes, and then she stood the book up like that, and secretly looked at the side profile of Hikigaya Hachiman who was focusing on his phone.

Kamuro-san could see everything with these eyes. ’That is to say, Sakayanagi Arisu, you are finished. You really like a boy....’

Although Kamuro-san has no interest in love, she knows that some people who are or have a crush on someone can’t help but look back at the person they like during class.

’It’s not for any reason, but whenever you see them you feel at ease and heart beats faster. Sakayanagi, you are finished. You actually fell in love....’

But Kamuro-san didn’t think it was a good choice.

’Because doesn’t Hikigaya always have a good relationship with Kushida or Karuizawa and Horikita? Although we haven’t seen them dating, it is possible they are making our secretly.....Even if they don’t interact, still pull each other forward...’

For Kamuro-san, this is like... stepping on many boats.

She hates people who are not loyal.

Because she knows that she can’t be happy with someone who is not loyal.

’Sakayanagi, is it true that a smart person like you would have to fall into such suffering?’

“Um----” At this time, Sakayanagi gently held her chin with her hand and said, “Okay, Kamuro-san, you’ve worked hard today. You can go back now....I have stuff to do alone.”

“…” So why?

Kamuro-san came back to her senses instantly.

Because, even though both stayed together and stayed in the room for 3 hours, her cell phone ran out of battery after two hours, so she spent the remaining hour sitting on Sakayanagi’s bed, worrying about what this troublesome girl would ask her to do next.

So she has been on standby.

But for three hours, Arisu didn’t continue calling her.

Now 3 hours were over, and Kamuro-san allowed to leave.

So why?

’Since I was not needed today, why not let me go back to the dormitory at the beginning? Why let me stay here for another 3 hours?.....’

Other side.

“Meow——”

Ichinose Honami had already woken up from her sleep and found that it was dark around her.

She looked around in dim light, realized this was not her room.

But smell of the quilt seems somewhat familiar, like being near to....quickly determined this was indeed Hachiman’s room.

But, owner didn’t seem to be inside.

Ichinose found a bowl of ginger soup on the table, wrapped in plastic to keep it warm.

’That’s really thoughtful. Hikigaya-kun is really a good person, I will definitely be happy if I date him....’ Ichinose felt that she seemed to be particularly easy to conquer today.

But there is no way not to think in this direction.

Hikigaya-kun and she signed an agreement to get married after graduation, which means both parties agree, so they can directly confirm their marriage by taking the registration form to district office to legalise.

The so-called agreement is a shackle.

Even when fulfilling its content, there will be some resistance in the heart.

Ichinose didn’t have such thoughts.

Because she thinks Hikigaya-kun is a good person, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t work after they get married.

Because Ichinose had no intention of getting married and staying at home to be a full-time housewife, so her goal was actually to go out and work.

’From this perspective, there is no conflict with Hikigaya-kun. It’s just a bit regrettable he believes more in clear marriage than love..... Besides, I have another rival, Kushida-chan, who is is cute and kind, and she is in the same class as Hikigaya-kun. Just based on the fact they are in same class, she is far better position than me...Sometimes I can see her and Hikigaya-kun going to the movies together.....But, I was also a little happy. Since, I could stay in his room, I should be the first one.....

While thinking such.

“Crack—” She heard a voice coming from the entrance.

“Ichinose, are you up?”

’It was Hikigaya-kun’s voice. He is back. At the same time, I smelled the delicious aroma of duck blood vermicelli soup. He even brought back some food....’

When Hachiman entered the room, he found light was on.

’Although Ichinose was still lying on bed, she seemed to be in a daze, thinking about something. Judging from the status, health is okay. She was wearing my shirt now. I never expected that my clothes would have such an opportunity to be worn by the most popular girl in school. After that, if Ichinose returns it to me without washing, it will be pretty amazing....’

“.....” H-Hachiman felt like wavering.
