COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Battle between Class A and C has also reached a critical stage.

Chess game reached a point where even a layman would find Pawn’s position difficult.

Current situation is Kiyotaka at a disadvantage. But it’s not that, no hope of winning.

Because she intervened from the very beginning, and Commander can only do so for 30 minutes.

Now she had less than 3 minutes left out of 30.

Once her time for intervention is up, Hashimoto will have to make next move himself, who is no player for Kiyotaka.

For Sakayanagi now, outcome must be decided within 3 minutes.

You can feel her competitive spirit just by looking at the board. There is also despair of one person.

That’s Hashimoto-kun.

“Hey, hey, what kind of alternate-dimensional fighting method is this…!”

From the display screen, you can hear Hashimoto’s voice as he follows the instructions.

He played chess while holding his hair with one hand. ’I don’t understand shit! Fuck is going on?!’

He clearly heard Sakayanagi’s instruction to send chess piece over, but almost moment he put it down, Kiyotaka’s hand came over and moved own.

This speed simply means that opponent has already predicted Sakayanagi’s chess moves.

That’s not all.

When Kiyotaka raised his hand a little slowly, chess piece had already landed firmly.

This shows, prediction. It’s not about step that is realised, but what both sides predict many, many steps ahead when playing chess.

This is not a way of playing chess that ordinary people can learn or understand, okay?

That’s why he cried like a loser in a battle of another dimension.

[Shut up, Hashimoto-kun!]

Although machine would not convey the voice of commander, but only orders, Hashimoto, who had vented his anger in self-abandonment, seemed to have heard the order from Sakayanagi herself, so he had to continue to act as a tool and then play chess.

“…”

10 seconds per hand.

He already wondered if he might have placed the chess piece incorrectly.

However, situation has reached a fever pitch.

Sakayanagi had no time to intervene as commander, so she immediately began to force them all out.

The reason is chess game has reached the final stage.

Hachiman quietly glanced at time directed by commander. ’Sakayanagi only has 46 seconds left to give instructions.....Although remaining time is short, whoever can perform a miraculous move during this period of time will win....’

The first one to move was Sakayanagi.

So, Kiyotaka stopped moving.

Tick-tock, tick-tock. The time for him to think is passing by.

Hachiman was wearing headphones and looking at the screen.

He wore headphones not to block out noise, but to confirm whether Acting Director would participate in this exam.

Judging from the information obtained, Tsukishiro came here to target dropout Ayanokoji Kiyotaka.

However, Hachiman had guessed during last dropout vote that Tsukishiro might not want to drop him out directly.

The adult world is far more troublesome than children think.

What Hachiman needs to pay attention to is whether Tsukishiro becoming Acting Director will hinder his school life.

And if Chairman Sakayanagi cannot come back for time being, then boss of this school will still be Tsukishiro.

As a student, Hachiman does not think it is a good thing to go against him directly.

Besides, his relationship with Kiyotaka has not reached that point.

It’s an opportunity to test.

Try to find out whether Tsukishiro has the same idea.

He did not think it was normal for Commander to type and then convert it into mechanical sound and transmit it to the players’ ears.

In other words, Hachiman thought this was an opportunity to tamper with players.

Moreover, examiner for this round was changed from very idle Chabashira-Sensei to a second-year teacher.

There are clues to follow.

So, logically speaking, Tsukishiro wanted to interfere with this exam, and will definitely contact him.

He began to listen.

“…”

2 minutes passed.

There’s nothing in headphones.

’In other words, my guess was wrong, and Acting Director did not interfere with exa-----

Tick.

Hachiman noticed that a command had appeared in empty space for inputting commands in front of him.

At the same time, voice of Agent Tsukishiro was heard in the headset.

It seems stable.

During the game, Ayanokoji was wearing headphones.

When he was thinking about how to deal with Sakayanagi’s oppressive hand, a strange instruction came.

“…..” No hesitation.

Following the order, Kiyotaka immediately went down.

Then deadlock was broken and the game was lost.

Class B of first grade regained its status as A because it won 4 games.

Following instructions from the earphones, Kiyotaka made a rather strange move.

This made Sakayanagi pause.

’For a chess player of my level, Ayanokouji-kun is indeed a genius. For ordinary people, this is a realm that cannot be reached no matter what, there is no doubt about that.....If that’s case, showdown is over.’

“…I lost.”

Looking at irreversible situation, Kiyotaka looked expressionless with an imaginary frown on his face.

“Thanks--” Hashimoto also lowered his head in response to that frown.

Although he still couldn’t understand the chessboard, his victory was real.

Now he just felt relaxed that he had finally defended game for Class B, and evaluation of him would not become worse.

At same time, this is fourth victory of class, so he can be regarded as a great contributor.

But he was just a tool along the way.

He couldn’t even understand the situation. He clearly won, but he still couldn’t feel any happiness!

“—That’s it.”

The second-grade teacher who was quietly waiting for the outcome immediately spoke up, “Class B won the 6th Chess match!”

“After commanders of both teams have a ten-minute break, seventh match will continue.

Current result is 4 wins and 2 losses for Class B and Class C.”

According to best-of-seven plan, this is already a victory for Class B.

As a result, Class B will regain its position A.

This time, all seven items will be played regardless of outcome, so remaining item can still earn 30 points.

“It seems that your class has also failed. However, being able to compete with the former A class to this extent is really strong, Sae-chan!”

On teacher’s side, Hoshinomiya, who had finished the exam, came to provide comfort to Chabashira.

She sighed as she watched the battle situation.

Her class lost directly, she discovered this, because although they had been drawn to take a sports test, most of students in class were absent, which was most likely due to drugging.

But examination room was like a battlefield, and even if she knew it, she couldn’t guide Ichinose and the others. ’All I can say is that I hope they can learn from experience and not make the same mistake again next time.....’

She was very hesitant. Ichinose is a very cute and nice child, and she is intelligent, but too kind.

People, if you are too kind, you will be bullied. But she didn’t want her to get rid of this kindness.

’If Sae-chan wants to continue climbing up Class A, then I won’t mind destroying Ichinose’s kindness and forcing her to grow up passively and face this society, but she is weird.... Sae-chan seems like a different person for some time now. Become...less obsessed with Class A. This is really strange. You have to know that Chabashira Sae is a very determined person. She has always stuck to her beliefs since she was in school.....But now, things have really changed. Why? Why? Who the hell untied your knot? How could you be untied so easily?’ Thinking of this, Hoshinomiya Chie secretly clenched her left hand into a fist.

Even though her class dropped from Class A, Chie didn’t feel much.

Players in next Go game can rest for 10 minutes before returning to game, and same goes for the commander.

There were originally four students in the command tower, but since Class A and Class D finished matches early, Ichinose and Hiyori also withdrew from the battlefield.

.....Hoshinomiya probably went to find Chabashira immediately.

Mr. Mashima left too.

So, now only person left here to supervise exam is unloved Chemistry teacher Sakagami-kun.

Can be ignored.

Because it’s break time.

Sakayanagi held her cane with some regret and walked to enemy, which was not far from her seat, “Hikigaya-kun, do you feel it? Not even being able to intervene.”

Can’t intervene?

Although Hikigaya-kun came here as Commander, he didn’t seem to give any instructions to the students taking any exams.

This is a sign of trusting your companions. But real reason is there is no room for intervention.

“So you can consider the proposal I told you before. Although people’s talents are determined after birth, if they want to change, can only do so by combining with people who have talents!”

???

“…..” Hikigaya Hachiman. ’I feel like Sakayanagi is in a good mood because she won the chess game...But now what is girl promoting?’

“I have always known that people have limits. But I have done what I can. I fought you with all my strength.”

’Oh....? So you actually worked hard? I seem to see that you are somewhat unwilling.....But this look is kind of cute.’ Just as Sakayanagi was thinking about it, she found Hashimoto hurriedly running to the door of the command tower, “Sakayanagi, Princess, it’s bad. All the players who will participate in next game of Go have diarrhea and can’t participate in the game!”

“…”

Almost immediately after receiving this news, Sakayanagi turned around and stared at Hikigaya-kun with a serious look.

’There is no need to consider other candidates. It must be Hikigaya-kun’s method. How despicable!’ She was already certain that it was this guy who did it.

But Hikigaya-kun is now supporting his chin with one hand and pretending to look around at the scenery.

Because this is an exam, right? No one said you have to be upright.

It was probably after Sakayanagi proposed a showdown, and Hikigaya also created an atmosphere for a showdown, and then let her compete fairly, while he took the opportunity to do something secretly.

In this exam, Ryuen looked very dirty, and Hikigaya Hachiman, whom even Ryuen feared, was of course the winner.

So he used same method that Ryuen used on Class A on Class B.

Just as he had initially guessed, when Yukimura Teruhiko proposed to incite Katsuragi to rebel, he had already thought of this.

He used ordinary means like Yukimura to persuade Katsuragi to rebel and attract Sakayanagi’s attention, but the people he actually persuaded to rebel were other random Npc’s, which played a good protective role.

Regardless of whether Sakayanagi will be wary of Yukimura and Katsuragi, or whether she will simply ignore Yukimura’s little tricks and trust Katsuragi, these have become means to confuse her.

And she didn’t realize that Hachiman actually wanted to incite other students to rebel.

That’s why plan went so smoothly.

The students in Class B who participated in Go project lost their ability to fight due to physical reasons.

7th game ended with Class C winning.

In fact, he could have won at the beginning.

If device had chosen one more project that his class was sure to win, then he could have won.

He did not arrange spies to drug all players in Class B as that would have been too high-profile.

Administering large amounts of drugs, like Ryuen did, is very risky.

Because once Ichinose reports, he will be punished and competition will be cancelled.

This is Ryuen’s weakness. He always reveals his faults.

The puppies in Sakayanagi’s class also need to be much more united, so have to be more cautious.

Therefore, As long as his class has three must-win events and then beats Sakayanagi’s class in one game, then his class will be the winner.

But luck is on Sakayanagi’s side.

Class C won 3 games against Class B and lost 4.

Class B will take away 30X (4-3) points.

Sakayanagi not only received +30 points, but also received 100 as a reward from school.

Results of four classes are out.

Class A led by Ichinose

1298 - 150 = 1148.

Commander Arisu Sakayanagi’s Class B scored 1250+130=1380 points

Class C where Hachiman is located has 1185.7-30 points = 1155.7 points

Ryuen finally rose to prominence in Class D, with 250 points.

Judging from score.

Hikigaya’s class was promoted to Class B, and Sakayanagi returned to her stars of Class A.

Ryuen’s class finally broke through class evaluation score of 0, so the biggest loser in this exam was Ichinose’s friends.

xxxxxx

“This is a very real test. You should be happy, Sae-chan!”

On Chabashira Sae’s side, Hoshinomiya already knew the test results of Class C.

At the same time, she also discovered abnormalities in students of Class B and her own class.

Although she was a little gloating that Class B would encounter the same thing, but Chabashira’s class actually had the advantage of being promoted to a higher class.

This made Hoshinomiya a little unhappy.

“That’s right.” Chabashira-sensei had a blank expression on her face.

She knew very well that Hikigaya had said that target was Class A.

But it can only be achieved once.

He will no longer work towards this goal, but now he seems to be contributing to class, but it must be because of other things.

It’s definitely not a sense of class honor. She actually had some concerns.

That is, she believed that Hikigaya would definitely abandon class in the end, and although he now seemed to be working hard, in fact, he would probably switch to another class soon.

’......The reason why he made a contribution here is so that he didn’t get criticized when left. It means Hikigaya is ready to go to another class.’

So for her it was loss of an excellent student, there was no reason to be happy.
