Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”If that’s the case, wouldn’t it mean the conflict between Magic Towers would become even more...” The raspy voice spoke fearfully, ”We...”

”What are you afraid of?” Jerry asked calmly, ”We’ll all be dead before it comes to your turn, the guy with a grandfather who is an Eighth Ring Mage.”

”What am I afraid of?” The raspy voice let out an awkward laugh, ”The day you go to the battlefield is my countdown!

Otherwise, why would you, students who’ve become Meteor Mages, be sent to the front line?

It only proves that we need to compete with other Magic Towers for resources, or else we’ll perish!

At that time, even if my grandfather cares about me, he will still send me to the battlefield.

Let alone I’m just an ordinary grandson!

Moreover, when it comes to this, I am actually more dangerous than you; I have no chance to surrender!”

Jerry couldn’t deny his words, so he could only offer some comfort: ”Perhaps before then, we might catch another visitor from the Stellar Realm!

The Tower of Dark Enigma, with only three Eighth Ring Mages, managed to hold on because of pure luck, catching one visitor by chance!

Our Tower of Despair has Ninth Ring Mages!

Surely, the opportunity will come.”

Then he laughed slowly with a very hopeful tone: ”As long as we offer a visitor from the Stellar Realm to our Goddess Bisozeya, we can at least gain resources to sustain the Magic Tower for a century!”

Hill, who had been listening calmly, silently hugged himself... the name said it all.

There is only one Bisozeya, wife of Asmodeus, assassinated by the Great Duke Levistus in the first rebellion in Hell, the Queen of Hell.

Although Levistus seemed to be used by others, thus only imprisoned by Asmodeus in the ever-frozen ice cell, that most alluring Great Devil really was killed.

Hill always thought Asmodeus had accepted it and had been trying to raise their daughter Glaysia since then, even releasing Levistus in the last purge.

Yet, it seems that Asmodeus is still secretly striving somewhere in the Universe!

From the way these mages are accustomed to the status quo, it’s clear that when Teraxil’s first devil appeared, this world was already under control.

Not every newborn world has the support of a World Tree; if they are invaded at the formation of the world, they cannot resist the powerful Lord of Hell.

No wonder he has always been seeking the opportunity to become a deity, trying to invade Heavenly Mountain.

Bisozeya, as a true Hell creature, is fundamentally different from an angel like Asmodeus... if a devil dies in Hell, it’s utterly gone.

There’s not even a chance for the soul to remain.

The only hope lies at the deepest part of Heavenly Mountain, in that pool created by Positive Energy where Asmodeus was born, possibly containing the Life Rosy Stone.

That thing was just a legend.

It’s said that angels could appear because of this rosy stone soaking in the pool with that thick scent of Water of Life.

If even the scent of water could form angels, the power of this rosy stone can well be imagined.

So the legend goes, by using this rosy stone, it’s possible to pull even existence whose soul is extinguished back from the fate of the past.

But it’s only the soul.

To let this soul become the strongest among the Great Devils in the past, the Queen of Hell, rather than slowly ascending from the lowest Lesser Fiend according to Hell’s rules, more must be done.

Bisozeya was inherently a being of manners and arrogance, proud of her beauty; she absolutely cannot tolerate weakness and ugliness... she died because her overwhelming pride allowed neglect.

Just like Midnight who thought her Divine Realm was absolutely safe, Bisozeya did nothing to guard her home... she didn’t even prepare a clone like ordinary Dukes of Demons... and died inexplicably like that.

Later, when Asmodeus returned, he cleaned out half of Hell out of madness for the unbelievable death of Bisozeya, who never left her home.

So the Lord of Hell even prepared to immediately deify her upon resurrection.

Such moving love, but at the cost of the destruction of countless worlds.

Hill clenched his fists and laughed coldly.

He’s never been one to meddle, but it doesn’t mean he could tolerate such a terrible neighbor right at his doorstep... the most important is, Hill knows clearly that a world on its last legs couldn’t allow a resurrected Bisozeya to grow strong enough to go unchallenged in Hell.

Asmodeus always had Teraxil in mind.

No wonder, in Aesces, Asmodeus was so familiar with the existence of the Undead Tribe.

Hill once thought it was because of the Toril incident that he became aware of the Undead Tribe, but now it seems not so!

He silently recalled Asmodeus in Chult.

The overly natural change let Hill, or other Toril Deities, ignore the fact that Asmodeus never even attempted to deal with the Undead Tribe.

Perhaps it’s because, so many deities had proven the uncontrollability of the Undead Tribe unless they had the consent of their employers... only the God of Time and Space and William from Teraxil were legitimate labor organizations.

But with Asmodeus’ profound mind, he would definitely not trust others’ judgment!

Unless he had tried and confirmed he couldn’t.

And this time.

He was clearly very interested in those buzzing flies but showed no intention to act... not even trying to connect with Zhu Meili.

The Undead Tribe could cooperate with Rose, yet in a way, the Lord of Hell is far more trustworthy than Rose!

Asmodeus was actually avoiding contact with the Undead Tribe.

Hill silently clenched his fist.

If not for the unexpected appearance of the God of Time and Space, Asmodeus’s calculation might have succeeded... Teraxil, under constant influence from external forces, couldn’t have defended against the full-blown assault from the Lord of Hell!

Hill gently grasped his black hair, looking at it silently.

Luckily, Teraxil was truly fortunate.

Wait a moment, Hill blinked suddenly... if it weren’t for avoiding Gaia and Cronos’ pursuit, Uranus would never have used his Divine Soul to recklessly bring people from the World Without Magic into the Fantasy World.

And Gaia and Cronos were searching for Uranus’ scattered soul because Cronos’ Divine Soul was also destroyed by Asmodeus.

To revive him, Gaia would need to let him be reborn... so they needed to find him a father.

Is fate really a circle?

Hill chuckled helplessly.

”You’ve put it too simply,” in the eager discussion about possibly capturing a visitor from the Stellar Realm in the future, the raspy voice interrupted their fantasy, ”Goddess Bisozeya wakes once every three hundred years to accept offerings.

The Tower of Dark Enigma succeeded last time due to luck, catching one just in time.

That’s how they’ve survived, barely hanging on for two hundred years.

Huh~”

”It’s only been twenty years,” Jerry argued, ”Maybe we do have a chance!”

”You don’t understand,” the raspy voice said with some sadness, ”Even knowing the luck of the Tower of Dark Enigma, acquiring a Stellar creature doesn’t necessarily mean luck for the Magic Tower.

Unless catching it coincides with the goddess’s festival.

If not, whoever catches it will be besieged by mages worldwide... the goddess accepts offerings but doesn’t care who sacrifices.

Nor will she mind how much blood is shed on the offering!”

It sounded like he was patting the shoulders of the other two: ”To Eighth and Ninth Ring Mages, a visitor from the Stellar Realm is the best gift.

No matter how many die, most of them can survive.

But for us, it’s not the same!

We don’t even have a shred of hope to survive!

Our Tower of Despair isn’t like the Tower of Dark Enigma, on the brink of collapse, it’s best if such opportunities never come, understand? Hmm?”

The other two solemnly responded: ”Understood.”

”Don’t worry, we will definitely never speak of it again.”

Hill tilted his head... none of them said whether secrets can be kept.

Despite their pride in the strength of their Magic Tower, this reticence only proves the gap between Magic Towers isn’t as wide as they claim.

Just as these people mentioned, even if it’s the same Eighth Ring Spell, it’s different when cast by a Ninth Ring Mage... the summoned meteorite can sustain whatever their Tower of Despair requires.

”What will happen to the Tower of Dark Enigma?” another male mage suddenly asked.

”Why are you so concerned about the Tower of Dark Enigma lately?” the raspy voice asked, puzzled, ”Even if they can’t hold out, they won’t come to our Tower of Despair!

They’re sure to head to the Tower of Darkness.”

”I know someone there.”

”An enemy?”

”An annoying person.”
