Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill sat in the more secluded domed hut on Purwell’s back and waved gently to Aesces.

The Little Whale jumped into the random portal ahead with a flick of its tail amidst the farewell sound from the little black sphere... Aesces was worried that if he used it in the Stellar Realm, he might accidentally get caught by Eosca trying to escape, so he directly gave Hill the permission in his domain.

Although he encountered many distressing things in this world, Hill was still very content.

Meeting someone he was willing to make friends with was a treasure, even if it was just one.

Moreover, it was rare to find a friend with whom he could communicate at any time, which made Hill even happier.

Now he understood why many of the long-lived would try to avoid deeper interactions with ordinary people.

Because their lives were indifferent to time, whereas mortals had to cherish every minute.

Sometimes, Hill would think of friends from the past, like Boen.

He was now so glad he chose to let Boen walk his own path instead of staying in Hill’s Magic Tower as initially planned... Luckily back then, Hill only considered Boen’s well-being.

Otherwise, what would extending Boen’s life to the limits of a mortal be worth to Hill, who was destined to embark on a journey?

Even if he returned in between, he would only face an aging Boen with silence.

Even if Boen established a family and career in his Magic Tower, the intention of staying by Hill’s side would be meaningless.

Even though it’s no longer possible, just the thought of it caused Hill’s heart to ache.

Although the emotion between Boen and him was bound to fade over time, especially with Boen establishing his family... as an official tutor at the Mage Academy, Boen was quite popular.

And the fantasy he secretly held about returning to Hill’s side was naturally cut off as Hill began treading toward the Stellar Realm.

Thus, knowing that his future at best would make him an Archmage, Boen chose to marry and have children with a fellow female mage.

By the time the Undead Tribe arrived at Toril, Boen’s child was already calling people.

The Tower Spirit Hill left in Teraxil’s domain would definitely have delivered gifts on his behalf... Where there were nobles, even with William’s daunt, there would be intrigue.

But those private grudges wouldn’t cross certain lines.

Boen was able to live a life undisturbed, deciding even his marriage independently, because no one in Teraxil dared to provoke someone under Hill’s protection.

So before departing, Hill instructed his own Tower Spirit to keep an eye on Boen.

It was the only thing he could do for Boen.

As for the rest... let their feelings flow like water.

Even those Legendary Mages who lived for thousands of years and whose wills had endured countless trials would lose their balance amidst the immense difference between their fleeting years and the frozen time of their powerful peers; Hill didn’t want Boen to end up like that.

The day Hill’s bloodline awakened was when the path they shared in youthful days began to diverge irreconcilably.

Time would render all helplessness into nothingness.

Hill likely realized this long ago, but his heart was swayed by a sliver of hope, leaving him silent.

Nevertheless, in this new world, everyone he engaged with from a point of openness was, from the start, someone he was certain could, barring accidents, last over ten thousand years.

Starting from Lynn, adding the Little Golden Dragon, then Aesces, Hill increasingly distanced himself from ordinary people.

It was today, looking back at Aesces, that he truly understood his feelings.

Though still sensing a bit of melancholy, Hill accepted this reality.

Journeying was fundamentally about understanding the world and oneself.

Especially about oneself.

Every discovery marked a significant step toward becoming a stronger self.

The dimensional passageway, previously colorful and obscure due to swift flying, suddenly became clear.

The black Whale gave a sudden flick of its tail and burst forward through the Light Gate.

The low, oblate tiny house, accommodating only a seated Hill, abruptly transformed back into a semicircle. Hill stood up in confusion, observing the unfamiliar Starry Sky around him.

After a moment of pause, he remembered to take out the complete Star Map he made in Toril, attempting to locate his position.

”Sir?” Purwell, once again the driver, cheerfully hopped in front of Hill, the little Light Ord couldn’t help but spin around. ”Do you need Purwell’s help?

Otherworldly Whales never get lost~

There’s no coordinate we can’t find!”

Hill hesitated for a while before seriously asking, ”Hey, Purwell, can you really ensure that after losing your body, you won’t get lost?

Besides, I remember... last time we met a Little Otherworldly Whale in the Great Sea of Toril, it was like...”

”Don’t talk nonsense! Sir!” Purwell was exceptionally angry, ”That little one from last time was stupid enough to enter Toril without even saving a few coordinates, and those in Half-planes... are all fools eager for adventure just out the door!

I’ve been wandering around outside for hundreds of years...”

”And then got tricked into Toril.” Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Actually, there’s not much difference, right?”

The little Light Ord bounced a few times in anger and vanished instantly.

”Sir, can’t you just say that finding a more suitable direction can only rely on your choice?” Li Si appeared slowly, with a helpless smile, ”Why make the Little Whale stamp its feet?”

”Eh~” Hill clapped his hands, ”Purwell seems a bit downcast after being helpless during his time with Aesces; it’s unnecessary.

But even he can’t quite understand why he became like this, so he’s been wandering around, feeling a bit agitated.

It’s okay to leave it unexplained~

Diverting his attention works just fine.”

Li Si couldn’t help but smile: It’s this unintended tenderness of Hill that made him so incredibly likable.

Without a hint of expression, he turned off the isolation Magic Array of the small house before continuing to ask, ”Sir, do you plan to compute the Star Path first?

Would you like to explore any solitary planets or certain star system worlds nearby?”

”Not going anywhere until I find the Star Path.” Hill replied resolutely, ”Since the Abyssal Will and Lord of Hell have made decisions, then Asmodeus will surely act after devouring Cronos.

The Abyssal Will can’t see what the Toril Gods see, but the Lord of Hell knows it very well.

He won’t delay for long.

Of course, it’s fine in the short term, even if the ones in Toril figure it out, there’s no way they can directly alert those orderly gods of the Heavenly Mountain.

They would have to ensure their own safety first, find potential opportunities before considering whether long-distance neighbors would be troubled.”

Li Si nodded, ”Sir, would you like something to eat? These beautiful stars... look like there are many newborn stars~

Even I can feel that burgeoning sensation.

Such a delightful environment is perfect for enjoying refreshing delicacies.”

Hill glanced at Li Si, understanding his Tower Spirit was worried about his lack of food and drink after witnessing abnormal things, gradually nodded, ”Nothing else I can eat, give me a snack carousel~ something in white or pink hues, and a refreshing juice will do.”

Wanting something to eat was good; it seemed Hill was indeed in a decent mood, and Li Si nodded happily.

Amid the romantic and serene music, Hill began his days of eating delicacies while calculating the Star Map.
