Surviving The Fourth Calamity

When Aesces reluctantly appeared beside Hill, the Obsidian Mountain Range had returned to its original size, though the heights and undulations had been rearranged.

Instead, due to some instinctive reactions from Hill, the mountain’s trajectory became even more harmonious.

Aesces remains quite traditional in these matters; the mountain range alignment is set in the most basic and primitive style... without considering the impact of wind, frost, snow, and rain.

However, for him, these external influences are indeed not very important.

Unlike Hill, who, although belonging to the Earth Deity System as well, prefers an environment touched by nature.

”The earth simply wishes to be influenced, not that it must be influenced.” Discovering the changes in the mountains, Aesces couldn’t help but mutter.

”Talking means nothing; what matters is the result.” Leaning on a floating sofa, the smiling Hill said stably.

”So, is this your result?” At that moment, Aesces forgot the teachings of ’Snow Cloud Peak’: ’When you get to Hill, absolutely do not talk too much, directly ask him why Lu Huayu said that the monster mating with Night Butterfly is Level 25.

Hill knows well, he will directly reveal everything he knows!

Do not rely on William; he definitely knows less than Hill... although that creature is a monster, it can be formed thanks to some evil mages.

The deities here only know the surface.

Many monsters... although created by mages within the scope allowed by the law, some finer matters can only be understood by mages.

Deities understand only concepts... you can’t possibly not understand this?

Otherwise, how could Aesces be in today’s situation!’

Aesces actually doesn’t quite understand why ’Snow Cloud Peak’ always categorizes Hill as a mage.

In his perception, Hill appears entirely like a standard Child of Nature, even can’t be described as a magician; if anything, he resembles a Divine Child more.

It’s just that Hill himself wants to become a mage.

But Aesces doesn’t think he’s a mage.

Yet if even the existence on Toril’s side confirms Hill is a mage, then probably, it’s just his friends perhaps unwilling to be bound mentally.

Aesces is somewhat curious about Hill’s past... ordinary Divine Children take pride in their identity, rather than constantly wishing to traverse another obviously tougher path.

Really interesting, wasn’t Hill born with the kind of inherited memory?

He truly isn’t ordinarily strong!

Maybe thinking about these matters that shouldn’t be considered at this time, Aesces still couldn’t control his curiosity, experiencing that rare child-like joy and emotion when encountering his stable and reliable friend unexpectedly appearing in panic.

Known for not being able to retort with sharp words, today he delivered an exceptionally precise and perfect counter.

Clearly ’Snow Cloud Peak’ specifically instructed him, ’If you wish to discuss personal matters with Hill, complete the formal business before speaking.

He awaits Aesces’s good news over there... may this World Master consider the feelings of the Undead Tribe still searching for treasures at sea for him.’

Hill moved lightly on the sofa: ”Ah, I just really detest those kinds of things.

Fearful? Not at all; truly facing them, it’s not that I couldn’t act, but... ha~ anyway, that thing’s harmful to me is merely disgusting.”

Upon hearing Hill himself bring up that thing, Aesces suddenly remembered the reason for his visit, so he naturally followed Hill’s words: ”Snow Cloud Peak says that Night Butterfly’s mate is a Level 25 Worm Mage, causing him some confusion as such monsters are inherently above Level 30?”

”Hmm?” Hill tilted his head, ”Did you leave out a sentence?”

”What?” Aesces was a bit puzzled, ”That’s just how he said it?”

”Don’t use your summarized conclusion, say his original words.” Hill shook his head helplessly, ”If you have judgment, why would you need to command the Undead Tribe to consult me?”

Aesces never denies the truth within his cognition, so even if dissatisfied with Hill’s comment about his judgment, he repeated ’Snow Cloud Peak’s original words: ”Level 25 monster, particularly strong life force, it seems very capable of laying eggs, the next generation of offspring will surely survive easily.”

Night Butterfly’s own judgment?

Though a bit sordid, if this is the requirement... to reproduce and all survive, then this kind of monster is indeed most suitable!

”Worm Mages inherently belong to necromancy.” Hill scratched his cheek, speaking uneasily, ”So the maggots growing from consuming his decayed corpse, actually also belong to a type of necromancy.

But when a Worm Mage is killed, those maggots, destined to die alongside, if suddenly struggling from them, instead transform into actual flies.

Ah, although part of necromancy, maybe due to their nature, they still pupate, only, hmm, that’s virtualization.

So they’re Worm Mages, not flies.

But for worms, becoming an adult is their perennial aim.”

Hill quietly pursed his lips, slightly reluctant to continue.

Just then, the oblivious Aesces, intrigued, eagerly asked: ”Because transforming from necromancy into living spirits, so suddenly downgraded, right?”

”This thing is quite powerful! Why are you so disgusted?”

”Yes, the conversion of attributes requires a lot of energy, this newly appeared monster is only Level 15.

I really didn’t expect the Undead Tribe to encounter one at Level 25.

Is there a problem with me not liking that kind of creature?

Do you really like Rose’s mutant spider?” Hill answered very simply... just ignored a little bit, but it should be fine, right?

The one that came was the Night Butterfly, not that fly.

That thing was actually the Worm Mage’s last struggle before death... his soul, all his energy, and his desperate will to not die, allowed the main spirit controlling the Worm Mage to merge into that maggot that was just turning into a cocoon, which meant he completely gave up his human form, and from now on, even if he had a humanoid form, it would be a monster with a fly’s head, fly’s claws, and fly’s wings on its back.

If the previous type of Worm Mage was a humanoid monster, the latter type was truly an insect monster with only primitive insect instincts, just eating carrion, but the meat had to contain energy.

Actually, that thing is quite difficult to deal with.

But such an occurrence is almost one in billions, extremely rare, so Hill really didn’t expect that it would be encountered by the Undead Tribe.

Even if you encounter it, at most you’d be sent back to the city.

Though that thing likes to throw creatures that killed it into a mud pit as reserve food, the Undead Tribe doesn’t have a corpse, right?

But the Undead Tribe that encountered it just so happened to have a Night Butterfly above Level 10, that could lay eggs with this kind of monster, which was unthinkable.

You know, this thing generally lives a lonely life until death, the possibility of encountering a similar creature, and an opposite sex one at that, is smaller than Shaer and Celene hugging and kissing each other’s cheeks in public!

For Aesces, knowing these things doesn’t mean much.

Hill glanced at the little black ball and smirked... anyway, Aesces asked him and he answered officially, but he was too lazy to speak the rest.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ sighed helplessly... Aesces came back too soon.

Hill has always been a good-tempered person, even if he wasn’t too happy initially, as long as no one bothers him afterward, his attitude remains friendly.

The focus is on no one bothering him.

Snow Old Dog thought he had already made it clear... he didn’t even stop Aesces from provoking Hill after the question ended.

After all, that guy would ask sooner or later, and a fight was definitely going to happen.

But obviously, Aesces failed to do so.

This guy replied so quickly, it must have been because the conversation didn’t go well and Hill quickly ended the dialogue.

But Aesces also remained calm and didn’t ask ’Snow Cloud Peak’ why Hill was angry enough to want to hit him... last time when explaining this to Aesces, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ felt that Hill, being friends with him, seemed a bit unlucky.

You know, Hill gets along well and is willing to communicate with people like Lynn who understand things very well.

Hill actually shows quite clearly, among his friends, he is willing to accept the Undead Tribe; no matter what differences there are on the surface, there is still a clear line inside.

Aesces is definitely not within his circle of friends... But Hill still acknowledged him as a friend.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ kind of suspects it’s because of the existence of the earth.

The earth in the Fantasy World, in a broad sense, certainly has similarities.

Just like humans, they can overcome many incompatible emotions because of blood ties.

But also because of this connection, Hill obviously treats Aesces differently than he treats outsiders.

Just like when in Agleya, Hill would only say some sarcastic words to Lynn.

So, today’s behavior was unusual!

Being provoked by Aesces but not reacting much... Hill must feel that this guy will definitely have a headache because of those worms in the future, and he doesn’t need to do anything now.

Those worms will teach Aesces a lesson.

But what about the Undead Tribe?

Does Aesces really have to be this annoying?

”Old Dog.” Susu’s voice gently drifted up from under the platform, ”Why do I feel like you still want to deal with those worms?

I heard that Asmodeus even put a barrier on the Rainbow Bridge first, and Gaia didn’t stop him.”

”Gaia was just stupid.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ replied swiftly, ”The Lord of Hell is probably going to make a package deal this time... However, whether Rose can bite off a piece is uncertain, after all, she must not have been affected at all.”

”Don’t play dumb, don’t change the topic.” Susu said very seriously.

”Then what do we do? We have to think about the future!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ blurted out.
