Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”These days, everyone’s really obsessed with fairness!” Snow Cloud Peak let out a heartfelt sigh.

Next up was Rose; no one thought she’d be able to bring out anything good.

The key point was: everyone knew what had happened on this side. Even if the Demon Lords of the Bottomless Abyss didn’t care how disgusting things were here, most of them still wouldn’t be willing to get dragged into this mess.

When even the Abyssal Will was paying attention, as long as a Demon Lord still had a sliver of sanity, without a hundred percent certainty of victory, they would absolutely never jump in on their own.

So the only ones Rose could make use of were the Demon Lords who’d been forced onto Liangshan, or who had completely lost their minds—only they, knowing that Asmodeus was on the other side, would have a first reaction of ”charge straight in.”

Anyway, the result of their failure would just be the usual... In the Bottomless Abyss, if things like that still had any strength left, then it meant they really were the Abyss’s own flesh and blood.

As long as they didn’t show any intention of rebelling, the Abyssal Will wouldn’t completely kill them off.

But those kinds of guys... their appearance absolutely matched the Abyssal Will’s standards... a face where you could see all four seasons and all the flavors of the Mortal World written into it—one glance was enough to make any normal person feel revolted and terrified.

Perfect Bald let out a groan... and when he saw that a member of the Orderly Camp had arrived—and it was even a Devil she could handle—that Slaran Deputy Sorel was visibly thrilled.

She’d originally been a large, very robust, blue‑green toad, her back covered in spikes, her mouth packed with sharp teeth like an iron rake plowing the earth.

But in that instant she suddenly shifted into the form of a Shila Extinct Toad... a gigantic, skeletal, winged Slaran, identical to her real master, Igor, lord of the Chaos Sea.

Perfect Bald glanced down at his tablet, then turned to Snow Cloud Peak and said, ”This one who doesn’t look it but is actually a female toad is only one step away from becoming a formal Slaran Lord~

All she needs now is recognition from the Chaos Sea.

So... no wonder she was willing to come to such a dangerous place.

Standing across from her is the very embodiment of lawful evil, the mighty Lord of Hell.

As long as she can scrape a bit of benefit from Asmodeus’s hands, Igor will definitely reward her.

Especially since right now, her real opponent is clearly that Plague Demon King.

Although that Altaros Demon... ah, that’s the general term for Devils that have been modified by the Old Witch... has power comparable to the strongest of those few Dukes of Demons, but, huh?”

”What does that mean?”

”The Plague Demon King used to be Neutral. He’d even cooperated with Abyssal Demons before. He’d been just one step away from completing his contract. But sadly, his unlucky mistress had her Mental Sea directly transferred into Asmodeus’s own body? Then the Lord of Hell directly upgraded the contract’s Level?”

”Huh? How did he even pull that off?”

”Too complicated, can’t explain it in one go?”

”You can think of it as something like Shaer and Aishdo—similar yet different... this one’s even more vicious.”

”Fine~”

”The Plague Demon King’s ending isn’t surprising either; the Lord of Hell is short on hired muscle!”

”He’s not like the Old Witch. His contract... mm, I’d guess it can be extended indefinitely.”

”So, the Lord of Hell seems to have given him some energy of his own as well, which is why the Plague Demon King is currently shifting from Neutral toward Order. It should be that Asmodeus gave him some very powerful Bindings.”

”Because the Halo on him is extremely unstable, he’s very easily affected in his spiritual power by the Slaran, whose every move is a Chaos‑type attack.”

”The two of them are perfect opponents for each other.”

Snow Cloud Peak rolled his eyes... Baldy could no longer use his own words to clearly relay the explanation from the other Edna.

The latter half of that was obviously in the tone of a normal person, completely untouched by that rotten mouth’s ”processing.”

Sorel was looking very excited.

When she’d first come, it had only been to check whether this place was suitable as a living environment for little Slarans. But when faced with a chance that looked like it might earn the favor of a Main God, there was no way she’d give it up.

Sorel was even willing, when going up against that pus‑oozing fellow opposite her, to casually save Gaia, who was being chased all over the sky... because of her massive size, when she landed she simply kicked those two desperately fighting fellows flying.

Anyway, Gaia had already achieved her goal. With Sorel standing in front of him, the trembling‑all‑over Cronos—who was clearly in the middle of receiving inheritance memories—would probably make it to the point of waking up.

When that time came, Cronos would have to save himself. The fact that she’d held on this long without directly dissipating was already the greatest display of her maternal love.

But that only made Typhon hate her so much he threw all caution aside.

”Speaking of which, over on Asmodeus’s side, it feels like things aren’t all that fair!” Snow Cloud Peak muttered. ”He’s got three combat powers on his side!

The other two sides aren’t going to send in more people as well, are they?”

”Shut up!” Perfect Bald roared back over his shoulder. ”It’s not just that big toad. Even the Devils the Lord of Hell summoned after entering the Dimensional Space are clearly no longer under restricted conditions.

Aesces obviously wants them to finish this early and get lost. If he can snatch this Dimensional Space for himself he’ll be even more grateful to the heavens. The loophole he opened up is already just short of kneeling on the ground to beg!

And you still want to toss in more fuel?”

-----------------

Hill pressed a hand to his slightly throbbing forehead.

This guy Snow Cloud Peak was always afraid things wouldn’t get chaotic enough; what he thought of was always the most troublesome possibility... which was why he was the real jinx.

Luckily, Asmodeus clearly didn’t intend to further increase the power of his incarnation here; he had his own plans.

Aesces, who had been paying close attention to the growing Cronos, had just now even sensed the slowly creeping desecrating threads coiling around Cronos.

But he’d only come over to mutter a few words to Hill, with no intention of intervening.

In order to obtain Cronos’s Divinity, Asmodeus absolutely had to find a way to turn this mirror‑like Dimensional Space into a permanent one, then drag it into Hell.

When that happened, the battlefield would naturally shift over there.

Even though the Desert was still full of buzzing flies and moths, the largest portion of them would all follow along.

Aesces, who had no desire to directly wipe out these Little Bugs, was really quite satisfied.

He didn’t personally feel anything about them, but from Hill’s reaction—and that of most people—he could tell just how unwelcome these Little Bugs were.

But as far as his true nature went, unless these little creatures had some chance of threatening the world’s continued existence, Aesces absolutely wouldn’t do anything.

It was precisely because he was thinking of returning to his home ground that Asmodeus had no intention of further tormenting his incarnation, and instead sent the freshly converted Plague Demon King up here to get some practice in.

Even so, Hill still couldn’t predict whether he would succeed or not.

Right now, the key point was still who the representative from the Bottomless Abyss would be.

-----------------

”Strange, what’s Rose waiting for?” Snow Cloud Peak was a bit puzzled. ”Why hasn’t she made a move yet? At this rate, Asmodeus is probably going to walk away with a huge victory!

Not that it matters much; Zhu Meili’s taking heavy losses all the same. I just feel like something’s off.”

”It’s possible that the existence she wants to draw out is too dangerous, so Rose has to protect herself first. She has to be extremely careful; one misstep and she might be the first to get screwed.” Perfect Bald gave his ponytail a hard tug. ”Kinda scary, huh~

Not even if it were Dimogogan would Rose be this scared, right?”

Just as the words left his mouth, a terrible, chilling screech rang out from within the giant screen: ”Asmodeus?”
