Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1137: Chapter 929: The Demon Lord Finally Reveals Himself

The humans in the hall of Toril watched the battle ahead with calm emotions, ignoring the terrifying sounds of devouring and wailing coming from beyond the door... Whatever that thing is, it should finish its meal before coming out, right?

The monster we encountered this time probably doesn’t have such a big mouth, and its eating speed slowed down a bit.

So there’s still time for them to watch the show.

Regardless of the backgrounds of these guests from Quel Senta, they were all very relaxed... A demon that eats people doesn’t care who the little minions underfoot are following.

So no one showed a desperate side, whether they initially understood what they might face or not.

In their hearts, even if the Undead Tribe couldn’t hold on in the end, and they all perished, they were not poor souls struggling painfully, waiting to die in the mud.

Especially those who knew exactly why they were here... Caught in the Path of Destiny, whether it was the so-called side quest, were likely to face the grand scene.

They were already quite fortunate, and the continuously entering Undead Tribe in the hall gave them plenty of confidence... At least, they certainly had enough time to send themselves to the Styx first... A dignified death is already a good outcome.

The Toril people disregarded what they heard, but many of the Undead Tribe, especially the girls who understood what was going on, looked distressed.

Being knowledgeable and imaginative at this time was not a good thing... Would rather see that guy eating people directly!

Yet the Hydra was entirely unaffected, directly rushing toward the Haber who held the Shadow Energy Core from the start.

That Haber had no plans to desperately fight, had he not worried the Demon Lord inside would eliminate him, he would’ve fled long ago.

Thus he merely circled Old Habel.

What could Old Habel do? He could only struggle to block this rampaging Hydra.

Having just sacrificed Adanko, Damo slammed head-on into the Dead Moon Magic Orb and lost his life.

Beside him were only two Archmages left.

However, these two had obviously joined forces because of his sacrificial acts with Adanko... Had they not worried that if the presider of the Dual Incineration Ritual, Old Habel, died, the Demon Lord would lose control and kill everyone here, they might’ve already destroyed this old undead!

But all initial excuses... such as abandoning a little conscience for the family legacy, vanished with the increasingly weakened screams of Adanko.

What significance does a family have in being called the ’Bloodline Home’ when it sacrifices its chosen clan leader?

Even if he truly escapes unscathed this time, henceforth Old Habel can only wave his magic wand and struggle alone.

But he wouldn’t have any opportunity left.

The awakened Demon Lord wouldn’t necessarily be controlled by Old Habel again, even if he suddenly abandoned Edna to choose another mage, say Leonard... Without sacrificing mages of the Kind Alignment with the Dual Incineration Ritual, no number of deaths would matter.

And as long as the Demon Lord could leave the Seat of Sakoxiel, even if he could only pace around the chair, as long as he didn’t sit on it himself, trying to control him with the Dual Incineration Ritual requires the presider to conduct a battle of wills with the Demon Lord.

Just Old Habel?

No one thought he could succeed.

Leonard tightly embraced Josanie, his eyes locked onto Old Habel... The Undead Tribe were only standing by and not engaging in attack due to the Hydra’s massive size.

Unless some precise undead can throw a few arrows, or use some single-target skills, the rest can only watch helplessly... Those twelve heads were constantly swaying; it’s a real test of skills.

Not being their own kin, they couldn’t strike so easily!

Leonard was already quite familiar with the Undead Tribe, knowing why they held back.

He merely took advantage of the Undead Knights circling the Hydra, trying to jab their lances through the moving snake tails to reach the three mages, found an opportunity to charge forward and sprinkle some nearly invisible spores.

Then slapped his hand onto the Hydra’s tail with a ’pop’: ”Hydra, quicken the pace!”

One of Hydra’s heads thoughtfully glanced at the Nature Mage already back by Edna’s side, twitched its tail, sending a mage with a shattered shield flying into the ceiling, then began spewing its venom again.

Edna glanced at Leonard and gently patted his arm: ”He won’t end well.”

Elvia snorted twice: ”Such a person might as well turn into a lich; at least that thing is just obsessively greedy... Wanting everything, even the Bottomless Abyss wouldn’t hold him.”

”Hydra! Retreat!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ suddenly shouted.

Beside him, ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ brought out an oil painting, timely casting Scorching Radiance before a dark red hand could seize the Hydra... The pungent smell of sulfur filled the hall.

The demon’s attack was unrestrained, completely disregarding the safety of the Habers... Only Old Haber got hurled against the wall by a gust of wind, then slammed to the ground.

Just as another dark red hand reached for the black metal sphere rolling on the ground, a long tail whip briskly lashed it... The Shadow Energy Core shot directly toward the direction of the Undead Tribe, caught in the palm of a knight clad entirely in brilliant red.

The Hydra joyfully slid over there and extended one of its heads toward the knight... The knight unhesitatingly placed the shadow energy core into the Hydra’s mouth.

Hill recognized it at once, the ’Magic Sword’ of the Black Rose.

Only he, no matter how many costumes he changed, always resembled a walking red envelope.

These two likely established a good relationship in the Underdark, hence the ’Magic Sword’ helped so much, not trying to attack those mages to seize experience, but instead waiting for a chance from the perimeter.

Even if Shaer’s Chosen seemed silly, they weren’t lacking in cunning, and the preparations were very thorough.

Amidst the furious roaring of demons behind the door, the Hydra’s twelve heads swiftly rotated, and after an exchange so dizzying, it turned one head to look at Jai Ford, Sakuxier’s swordsman who somehow rushed to its side from behind, and asked curiously, ”You really dare to rush in and snatch it?

Are you Zholar or human? Are there any living beings among Bane’s followers?”

”Where did you hide the Shadow Energy Core? Can I exchange it with you? There are some interesting divine artifacts in the Underdark, maybe the Lady of the Night would be interested!” Jai Ford didn’t intend to answer the Hydra’s question but instead made an intriguing suggestion.

Although irrespective of whether his master was Rose or Bane, facing Shaer’s Chosen wouldn’t bode well. But Jai Ford was clear that as long as the Hydra couldn’t figure out his trump card, he’d have a chance to escape.

And as long as he survived... when these mages hired him, they didn’t care who he worshiped. He hadn’t breached the contract, so even if they realize he had issues, what can they do?

Among the surviving dozens, hardly any are problem-free, probably not even ten.

Everyone’s in the same boat, as long as he didn’t explicitly leave nor reveal who his patron was, even Miss Edna wouldn’t expel him... Everyone knew why he was here.

”Oh~” The Hydra pulled back his head indifferently, ”Let Bane look for my master then! I don’t care about these diplomatic issues.”

’Bang!’ Two doors slammed against the wall... Just as Old Haber climbed up from the wall, he fell down once more.

Unfortunately, this seemingly tragic scene didn’t actually hurt him.

After all, he was still an Extraordinary Mage, no way these physical means could harm him... No matter how mediocre the mage, during battle, he’d absolutely apply a series of buffs reducing various damages on himself.

Two enormous red claws seized the doorposts and directly ripped open the five-meter thick wall.

The Undead Tribe didn’t sit idly by... Even if they knew the big boss’s entrance must command attention, they still attempted to turn this attention from the Deck of Many Things into a dead card.

The holy spells flying everywhere didn’t stop the slow-moving figure from emerging.

It was a nearly twenty-meter-tall red beast... Under brown-red scales, muscles bulged, deep red hair thick and coarse, with its powerful limbs covered in gray-black spots.

On a ferocious face, tusks protruded, and red eyes seemed to emit endless evil power.

Yet the Undead Tribe showed no fear at all, cries of ’King Kong!’ and ’Villainous King Kong!’ echoed nonstop.

Especially when the dark red gorilla ambled out, casually scratching its impressive belly with a paw.

Knowing full well it was a man-eating Great Demon before them, the Undead Tribe was still inexplicably joyous.

The Floating Castle, however, couldn’t find a way to smile.

”Lord of Balgara Elsdarhur!” Celene almost shouted in panic, ”What does Mark City intend?”

No one believed the Haber family had the capability to control this guy... This was one of the strongest demon lords under Dimogogan, the double-headed baboon, personally wielding absolute power over the 90th layer of the Bottomless Abyss.

Though due to past events, the relationship between Elsdarhur and Dimogogan had fissured... Yet despite the rift, the double-headed baboon merely grew detached from him, taking no further action, not even attempting to seize his Abyssal Plane, clearly showing how formidable this deep-red King Kong really was!

Nobody would believe Haber could control this Great Demon, who once led a demon army to assault the Wild Plains where the Olympian Gods resided, and even captured a deity.

Most importantly, the double-headed baboon had an exceptionally irritable nature... to seize his subordinate is akin to declaring war.

Though the Toril gods weren’t afraid of that Demon Prince, none would fight to the end with him... Who would willingly share Hell’s burden of damage?

The Silver Madonna couldn’t do it either.
