Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1116: Chapter 909: The Hard-Fought Path of Destiny

Edna, having decided on her route, wasn’t particularly nervous… She knew she would definitely encounter danger, but she did not believe she would lose her life.

The Lord of Agleya’s intimidation is remarkable in Toril nowadays.

How to put it, saying the Lord of Agleya is invincible around the world, even the Agleya people aren’t that cocky. After all, Toril has so many powerful divine beings.

But just counting the friendly deities of Lord Hill makes the Agleya people feel no one dares to anger their lord.

In the Toril World, a powerful entity like their lord who doesn’t like to cause trouble, you can’t even fill a palmful.

Most importantly, Agleya also has the Undead Tribe.

When Toril measures the ability of a faction, it’s not just about the highest combat power… even transcendent strongmen can’t be easily mobilized! Let alone an existence like their lord comparable to deities.

Speaking of mid-level and lower-level combat powers, who can be stronger than the Undead Tribe!

So when Agleya people go out, they’re never worried about being extorted.

If it’s not their fault, they can approach the door of the Alchemy Hall in their territory, then those Teraxil Elves who fear chaos across the world will mobilize.

That Alchemy Hall rarely demands compensations that the seekers can’t afford.

Payment methods need to be flexible.

If someone doing business outside or working is killed maliciously and their family can’t come up with enough money, that divine artifact will suggest using the money on the deceased to supplement the task rewards.

Initially, no one understood what this meant, until the Undead Tribe took care of those harmful guys and directly used their property to compensate for their losses… If still inadequate, they could even expand the revenge scope, making the accomplices of the criminals with similarly significant crimes share part of the burden.

After this happened a few times, no one would dare to act against Agleya people anymore, Toril people confronting these would rather back off compared to Tyr’s Righteous Knights… Whatever Toril’s nature is, most countries still have to cloak themselves with a veneer of righteousness.

Even a country like Sel needs a justifiable excuse when committing murder!

The evil faction certainly isn’t afraid of those who call for the light of justice, but they are absolutely afraid of warriors who can carry justice through.

However, Agleya people can’t go outside bullying others… Lord Hill’s territory is filled with spells detecting evil.

Moreover, if someone causes trouble outside and gets reported to the territory, no evidence needs to be presented for punishment… Agleya has countless ways to confirm whether the opponent is lying before dragging them for an investigation to reach a verdict.

Those confirmed as criminals will not only themselves be handed to the Tyr Temple for sentencing, but their families will also be implicated.

Many jobs won’t hire the direct relatives of criminals, and more seriously, if the whole family knew what he did, even if they didn’t act, the whole family would be expelled.

Even highly autonomous Luskan is the same.

Some minor issues might be tolerated, but as long as the law of Lord Hill is violated, it will be severely punished.

No matter the race or identity, the outcome is the same. Lord Hill has never issued a pardon order, very just.

Probably this is why the Teraxil Divinity who holds fair justice as divinity gets along joyfully with Lord Hill.

Edna understands that the Mithril Elves have always been grateful: the Sun Elves and Moon Elves almost cleared all obstacles for them.

Thus the Hidden Town always remains peaceful.

But also because of this, Edna is not at all worried about anyone daring to assassinate her, as the Haber Family has yet to create a true crisis for her.

She is now meticulously preparing for the matters after leaving Sword Bay.

Edna doesn’t believe anyone can take her and Leonard down… The Undead Tribe has always been live-streaming!

If anything major happens, Edna is confident the Lord of Agleya will definitely come to save the two of them… How could that kindhearted Lord Hill possibly watch his governor’s brother and student get killed?

Edna slowly walked next to ‘Snow Cloud Peak’, seriously asking him: “If they haven’t finished their jump by morning, can I leave without waiting for them?”

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ raised his head in surprise: “Of course, Edna, you don’t need to concern yourself with these trivial matters. If you want to do something, just go ahead, we are your protectors, we wouldn’t hold you back!”

Snow Old Dog tugged at the corners of his mouth to reveal a sincere smile: actually, the Black Rose people had mostly arrived, even those taking turns to give buffs to the jumpers had come down.

At most, just some sluggish reactors, doing things rather slowly, hadn’t arrived yet. But with this ample gathering time, those who still can’t catch up, of course, aren’t qualified to join this protection task.

Isn’t it obviously reasonable for laggers to not get paid?

Most of those still jumping down non-stop are here to watch the fun from other families, even many Scattered Ones might be here.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ understood well, he could see, Edna’s mission this time might become the beginning of a regional war, other families’ Wise Ones would definitely see it too.

Regarding none noticing… For missions that mobilize him, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’, no family would be inattentive, they’d at least send an overseer to observe.

So he’s not surprised that dumplings are constantly falling from above.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ really didn’t expect that Edna would come to ask him if he needed more time.

It’s obvious that if he shows difficulty, Edna will postpone her departure.

No wonder the ‘Old Age Striking King’ has been getting nicer to this little girl over the years; she really is quite adorable, huh~

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ stood up and dusted off his robe… The reason why both families’ people had almost all arrived and he was still loudly cursing was not only to give other families the illusion that they hadn’t finished gathering, but also because he wanted to curse these bastards who seemed like they wanted to crush him to death more… Is there any Clan Leader as humble as him?

Every day, he works hard to make money and earn experience for them, and yet they seem to want to get rid of him even more than his enemies!

Hmph!

Isn’t it just that he played pranks on them a few times~ Everyone’s here for fun, who’s unaware of who.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ looked around… The silver-blue moonlight was passing through the deep cavern and precisely sprinkled on the treetop of the Vanda Tree.

For some reason, though it was similar to the past, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ always felt today’s moonlight made him feel a bit cold.

He shook his head to dispel that strange feeling, wondering if it was because they were too far from the ground, causing the temperature to drop more?

After getting confirmation from that commander, Edna confidently sorted her supplies.

Though she didn’t think anything major would happen, insufficient preparation could still lead to deadly accidents, huh~

Just like those two Quel Senta Mages who met their demise, they also didn’t expect their moment of greed would cost them their lives!

Wait… Edna suddenly stopped her hand. Why is she so sure those people are definitely dead?

Is it because it’s the epicenter of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes? Or because of the terrifying power that obliterated Neverwinter?

She had long known there’s much in Toril that can’t be ‘explained by common sense.’

She contemplated looking at Devis and Luca, and loudly asked, “Devis, would you have any chance of escape if you weren’t by Leon’s side today?”

Devis turned to look at her and hesitantly said, “If not at the foot of the Ice Mountain, there’s a fifty-percent chance.”

“What about them? Do you think they’re truly annihilated?” Edna pursued.

“That depends if their followers are willing to risk their lives for them,” Devis glanced at Tiger-person Soma beside him and sincerely said, “If it were me, I’d still have a glimmer of hope, because Soma would definitely sacrifice his life to save me.

But I don’t think the people they brought along are that loyal.”

Edna nodded in realization.

Suddenly, Luca spoke from the side, “If any of them had a Divine Artifact on them, they might manage to survive~ Haha~ Too bad, as if that could happen~”

Edna’s expression slightly changed: It’s said every adventure party on the Path of Destiny has a jinx… Could it be true?

She decided to closely observe this Luca in the future.

“Ah~” Over at the Floating Castle, Celene suddenly exclaimed, “She isn’t affected by anything! How has she become so rational!

Is this still the Midnight I know? Can she really escape the influence of the Tablets of Fate so quickly!”

Hill glanced at the moonlight in the pool… So she and Shaer knew but were gagged?

“Fate~” Celene’s tone, cheerful like an aria, “What exactly is fate~ Is it the inevitable within the accidental, or the accidental within the inevitable?”

“As long as she doesn’t feel indebted, even an accidental mishap can be smoothly overcome,” Shaer spoke gently, “But I’m growing more interested in this play!

Ha~

The old, unchanged plots of the Tablets of Fate over the years probably won’t play out anymore.”

Hill suppressed the urge to sigh; looks like someone survived in the team of those two mages.

Then he suddenly realized something: “But Edna can’t go via the main route now…”

The Tablets of Fate could position that unknown person’s fall at a place Edna would normally pass through… but due to the Undead Tribe clearing traps, the path they might take has been thoroughly blocked.

“Hey~ hehe~ haha~” Celene emitted a peculiar laugh.

Shaer was silent for a few seconds before speaking with a slightly awkward tone, “It’s a bit difficult, but it can probably be corrected… In the Evil Faction, there are always some dim-witted fellows that can be exploited.”

Hill blinked; this strange atmosphere… did someone in Shaer’s underlings get involved?
