Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1126: Chapter 918: Another Sudden Incident Occurs

”The Haber Family is truly daring,” Celene commented lightly, ”This place used to be the Temple of Baal!”

Hill suddenly understood something: why the Baal he encountered was weaker than the one in true history... He managed the underground of Agleya so well that Baal, lurking in the nearby swamp, didn’t even notice that there were children’s corpses a thousand kilometers away he could absorb.

But without Hill’s presence in the Undead Swamp, in the labyrinthine underworld with water elements crisscrossing, Baal would certainly feel that aura. Even if the blood was gone and the internal organs were removed, if there were enough corpses, they could still increase his power significantly.

Hill quietly tugged at his long hair... Who knows if Baal is paying attention to this grand drama now.

If a celestial soul floating in the stellar realm is strong enough, and as long as there are followers praying and summoning, it can split off a sliver of will to remain conscious. Otherwise, how could there be so many deities resurrected by believers... Followers are just a beacon; whether this beacon can be relied upon to find a chance of survival depends solely on the deity’s own strength.

And in the North of Sword Bay, Baal’s believers have been quite enthusiastic, so Hill really doesn’t know if the Lord of Murder is now spewing three liters of blood.

If at that time he had gotten the bodies of these offspring, even if he couldn’t defeat Hill, he might have been able to escape!

”Baal... the Haber Family is not afraid of him, that’s quite normal,” Shaer said with a strange tone, ”Who would think he could resurrect successfully? Midnight and Kranvo are okay, but Cyric might even prefer to find Mask, turn him into a sword, and kill that guy once again.”

Celene couldn’t help but laugh: ”That’s true, if it’s about dealing with Baal, Kranvo and Cyric, who have always had deep-seated hatred, might even join hands.”

”Huh?” Hill exclaimed in surprise.

An unexpected event appeared on the giant screen.

In the place where Devis and Luca’s entourage stood, a rapidly spinning crystal ball suddenly appeared.

Colorful lights kept flashing... everyone in that area, including Edna, was teleported away.

”Edna!” Realizing something was wrong, Elvia swiftly dove down and was teleported away along with some undead who also jumped over upon noticing the anomaly.

”Ah...” Hill sighed softly, ”The Haber Family still hasn’t shaken off Elvia!”

”Did thousands of undead go in too?” Celene’s tone was filled with confusion... She really couldn’t figure out what the Haber Family’s long-term efforts amounted to.

Only that Nature Mage Leonard and his fairy dragon were left out, but normally, people would rather encounter this Extraordinary Mage than face a thousand undead, right?

The destructive power is just on a different level, isn’t it!

”At least over four hundred priests went in. Quite a few swordsmen tasked with protecting them went in too,” Hill spoke softly, ”Sanda King is there, and the black rose’s priest group must be standing by. Although those girls’ reaction times aren’t that fast, they’re close by!”

That’s five or six hundred elven swordsmen! Half of them are sword dancers inside.

No matter if their skills come from Coron or his sword dancer son, Demonslayer is their innate ability.

Compared to encountering those knights with high defensive power, these swordsmen might cause more harm to those Haber Family mages... The most important thing is, swordsmen have always been a profession that never looks back, so most of them have prepared methods for perishing together, like explosives.

The Black Rose also has many who bring along adult white dragons; although they aren’t very smart, they can still be used as temporary meat shields. After all, there are four hundred high-level priests adding healing and buffs!

Hill really doesn’t think the Haber Family can easily capture Edna.

”What kind of a thing is this?” Celene muttered, ”Let a few followers die, have Edna experience life’s unpredictability and the dangers of the human heart, to stimulate her soul?”

”As if this could wake her up!” Shaer asserted, ”Not even an eight-year-old in Toril would make such a big fuss, right?”

”Hmm...” Hill said, puzzled, ”What if the Haber Family can’t control that Demon Lord? If that guy really comes out, half of Sword Bay might get destroyed, right?”

”What are you worried about...” Celene said nonchalantly, ”That old man, although lacking morals, is reasonable. If you act to protect your territory, it’s not like you’re intervening actively. He definitely won’t do anything.

If he were so lacking in integrity, Tyr would have already turned against him; it’s just that he was caught in a loophole himself that he patiently waits for the opportunity!

See how the Lord of Justice has been so honest these past years, not doing anything extra.”

Hill tugged at his lips, his expression not looking good... He really suspected that the Tablets of Fate dared to be so dramatic, letting the Haber Family go wild, because of his presence.

After all, Shaer wouldn’t intervene, and Celene couldn’t.

But Hill also understood, he couldn’t allow Agleya City to be destroyed for such inexplicable reasons.

And with a Demon Lord unable to exert its full potential, Hill couldn’t be bothered... If a Legendary Mage hasn’t been sacrificed, that Demon Lord’s abilities can certainly not exceed level 40.

Being a Nature Mage, Hill already had an advantage in dealing with demons.

Let alone, he carries the blessings of the Sun and the Moon!

Hill quietly took out his magic book and softly cast the Elminster Sphere on himself... Celene and Shaer had messed with his Floating Castle many times without budging it, so Hill already knew in his heart whether ninth-ring spells could be used.

After receiving Celene’s blessing, it was the first time Hill used this Ninth Ring Spell.

He glanced at the faintly burning silver-blue moonfire surrounding the six silver spheres beside him and sighed helplessly.

If every spell cast with this magic book came with a moonfire effect, Hill truly felt he would become a street-clearing tiger... causing both humans and beasts to avoid him.

”Actually, there’s no need to worry that much,” Shaer calmly reassured him. ”If that Demon Lord really breaks free, he’ll just grab the Haber family and head to the Abyss together.

Of course, it’s normal to make a move once, just block it.

After that, he’ll focus on tearing through the space to return to the Abyss; Toril isn’t a place where Demon Lords can appear freely, and they’re very aware of that.”

Hill asked in confusion, ”Then what’s the Tablets of Fate’s purpose in all this? Just to show Edna how terrifying Demon Lords can be?”

”That’s enough,” Shaer said coldly, ”When the Demon Lord breaks free, half of the humans around Edna must die.

And when Edna faces the terrifying presence of the Demon Lord, whether she chooses to flee in fear or face it bravely, her soul will be shaken.

The reason Midnight hasn’t awakened is that Edna’s environment doesn’t give her a sense of crisis, isn’t it?”

”Edna...” Hill tilted his head in thought; he couldn’t really predict Edna’s reaction at that time, but bravely facing a Demon Lord was something she likely wouldn’t do, right?

Kranvo, who was naturally hard-headed and missing a screw, is a rare creature, isn’t he?

Though he felt this young lady was nurtured with courage, running away from an unbeatable enemy was actually quite normal!

The Undead Tribe playing with her first taught her to know when to turn around and run without hesitation.

After all, Edna was well aware that the Undead Tribe wouldn’t truly die, so as long as Elvia could escape, she wouldn’t have any doubts... How could the White Dragon Queen possibly run slower than Edna!

At most, Edna would give Radovis and Luca a helping hand during the escape, considering they’ve been getting along well these past two days.

On the giant screen, the Undead Tribe fell into a frenzy due to Edna and the others’ disappearance, no longer caring about their own people being swept into the battle... countless spells were launched towards the Haber family’s mages.

The other white dragons and Leonard had to retreat to the high platform.

Leonard squatted on the ground, looking at the now dimmed crystal ball, and frowned, saying, ”A fixed-point teleportation spell... how could it work?”

Celene on the other side of the giant screen laughed recklessly, ”Oh dear, you’d have to ask Mystra herself!

A Subartifact bestowed for escape by someone’s trusted Chosen turned out to be the best tool against her!

Kelben was truly excellent!”

Hill pressed his lips together, controlling his schadenfreude... He didn’t expect even this could be linked to Kelben.

However, the Haber family obtaining Mystra’s exclusive Subartifact could only have come from the Archmage of the Black Staff.

Another image suddenly appeared on a different giant screen... Black Rose started livestreaming their family’s scene.

It was probably to let ’Snow Cloud Peak,’ who was crouching in the battlefield buried in their tablet, see their situation on the other side.

The person livestreaming for Black Rose seemed unsure how to operate the equipment and directly put the thing on their head.

Now the person was slowly rotating clockwise... probably ’Snow Cloud Peak’ giving commands.

They arrived at a black-gray stone hall where the black stone walls were covered with dark red meat strips seemingly breathing rhythmically.

Only in the east did two open metal doors appear on the walls.

The Undead Tribe had no intention of walking directly over but instead started arranging their formation.

Behind Elvia appeared dozens of adult white dragons, seemingly recently matured. Though some had a blank look in their eyes, since no one dared offend the White Dragon Queen, they were all quite obedient.

Standing behind the white dragons were the priests, while the swordsmen stood at the outer edge of the formation.

Edna, Devis, and Luca stood amidst the priests.

But apart from a few trusted followers of Devis and Luca, the others were placed alongside the two survivors at the rear of the priest group, ahead of the rear swordsmen.

The Undead Tribe waited patiently.
