Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1106: Chapter 989: Edna the Little Fox

But Edna didn’t intend to invest much trust right now, just that compared to the other two, Devis and his people from the only Main Temple of Azuth could be treated a bit more leniently.

So when she saw the Transmutation School’s Luca getting close to the Half-Elf, and Leonard looked to her for opinions, Edna nodded slightly to indicate that they could communicate normally without much need for vigilance.

Edna glanced indifferently at the quickly warming up one person and one Elf, seeing Luca even picking herbs by the roadside and asking Leonard what the Nature Mage’s judgment of those plants’ properties was... Discussion related to plants made the Half-Elf Mage very happy, speaking animatedly.

The young girl shrugged helplessly... With Leonard’s type of nature, does he still want to play apparent harmony and hidden vigilance?

It would only take a couple of words for anyone to see through!

It’s better for her to observe carefully herself!

The rumbling sound of water striking the surface echoed in Edna’s ears; she looked up and gazed at the magnificent river flowing all the way down from Mount Beren.

The Everwinter River is a very famous river in The North because even in the coldest winter, the section within the forest does not freeze over.

Both Neverwinter and the Neverwinter Forest were named after this river.

Many have researched this river, suspecting it might be due to an underground volcano, but supposedly there are no traces within a thousand meters underground, nor any hint of sulfur’s stench.

Edna shouted loudly, ”Leon, in about three hundred meters, there’s a cliff covered with large rose vines, and three meters on the left side of the rose vines, there’s a small path that leads in when pulled aside.

Normally, there shouldn’t be any enemies there; the Undead Tribe harvested herbs there just three days ago, but you should still be careful.”

Leonard turned back and waved his left hand, indicating he heard her.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ suddenly strode over, ”Edna, let us check it out first.”

Edna raised an eyebrow in surprise.

”Well...” Snow Old Dog rarely broke into an embarrassed smile, ”The reason you asked them to pick herbs there is probably because it’s well known to the Undead Tribe, right?”

Edna nodded dazedly.

When she came to train in Neverwinter Forest with the Old Age Striking King and the others, she often went to that valley to collect herbs with some Herbalists in the team... Others picked herbs, while they picked the wild fruits from the thorny bushes.

She remembered it as a place almost all of the Undead Tribe knew about, right?

Of course, she also knew the secret locations of the Black Rose Family, but she definitely wouldn’t be foolish enough to take a group of strangers there!

’Snow Cloud Peak’ awkwardly said, ”You also know the Undead Tribe has been a bit idle recently, so they’re playing a game of finding faults with everyone.”

Edna tilted her head, suddenly enlightened, ”Are there traps in the herb bushes? The kind that can blow people up?”

”How could it be bombs!” Snow Old Dog had a serious look on his face, ”At most, it’s single-target traps like powerful crossbow arrows; bombs would set everything on fire!

If we burn down the valley, William will punish us severely.”

Edna nodded helplessly, ”I understand.”

Then she thought for a few seconds before smiling broadly, ”It’s actually unnecessary to find all the traps; just leave us an area to operate in.”

Edna showed her notebook to ’Snow Cloud Peak’ for a glance, ”See the skills of these people? Isn’t the valley just perfect for them? It’s a great opportunity to see how capable they are.

Just clear the riverside area; most of the herbs are there.

If some herbs or minerals are in unsafe zones, let Leonard and Josanie handle it; the Nature Mage has plenty of ways.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ looked at Edna, then at the split members of her team, and smiled, nodding, ”Of course, as you wish, my fair lady.”

He turned back to the Undead Tribe’s ranks, starting to select and appoint especially those swordsmen adept at dismantling traps, while also assigning a few Priests.

When ’Xiao Liuliu’ wasn’t present, the ’Old Age Striking King’ was the leader of the Black Rose Priests, and when the ’Perfect Bald’ wasn’t there, this Female Priest could make most decisions for the Black Rose... If ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ was around, she might discuss it with him; for others, it’s just a matter of being scolded.

And since she was there, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ didn’t need to arrange his family’s Priests to manage and follow along; even within the Magic Cult, this Female Priest’s presence was deterrence enough.

After arranging with the ’Old Age Striking King’ for her to lead a team into the valley to inspect the traps and clear out a safe zone, he couldn’t help but sigh, ”Hey~ Who would’ve thought, the Flat-headed Brother actually brought out a little fox!”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ was stunned for nearly a minute before figuring out what he meant, and he couldn’t help but burst into a rage, ”Old Dog, are you looking to die?”

The two families standing aside waiting for the ’Old Age Striking King’ to lead the team both looked at ’Snow Cloud Peak’ with an expression that resembled viewing one’s remains.

Though they had long known Old Dog’s mouth was reckless, to speak so carelessly in front of the person in question... especially a Siberian Tiger among the tigresses... Old Dog’s epitaph could already start being prepared.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ twitched at the corner of his eye, sometimes his mouth really moves faster than his brain.

But last time he badmouthed someone from behind and got cleaned up pretty badly, now he’s doing it face to face... wouldn’t he be directly punched to death?

”Sister~ Sanda King Sister~ I was just talking too fast, ah, ptooey! I just love to babble nonsense, you’re so magnanimous, just let it go like a fart~”

Snow Old Dog is truly astonishingly adept at bending and stretching.

’Old Age Striking King’ smiled at the corner of her mouth, glanced at Edna who was curiously peeking over here, and gently tapped Old Dog with her tiny fist: ”It’s fine, what you said was true! No big deal, I’ll go take care of serious business first.”

She decisively took dozens of people away in a rush.

The people she took away all looked back regretfully... ’Snow Cloud Peak’ was already kneeling on the ground.

With Sanda King’s height, her fist could strike directly at the tall White Robe Mage’s waist... and in reality where she’s skilled in boxing, she certainly hit Old Dog’s lumbar region.

Even with the sensation system at its lowest, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ couldn’t suppress that tingling and painful feeling.

”Old Dog.” ’Magic Sword’ couldn’t help but ask, ”Did you eat some lion’s heart and leopard’s guts? If it weren’t for Edna watching, you’d be pinned on the ground and wiped clean today!”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ half crouched up, clenched a fist and slammed the ground: ”I just talked too fast!

I didn’t even know what happened, I actually spilled out what was on my mind!”

”Uh~” A Priest from the Magic Cult couldn’t help but say, ”Edna’s little booklet seems to use that kind of paper that can only write the truth, ’Morning Dawn Paper’, right? It’s a great product from Lansendel.

Did touching it have an effect on you?”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ looked up in confusion, glanced at the little girl occasionally looking back over here: ”Ah? I thought she was a little fox, turns out she’s a fox spirit?”

”You overlooked it, didn’t you?” the Priest said speechlessly, ”Sanda King swapped a lot of good stuff from that Lord of Dawn for Edna from the ’Young Master’, didn’t you know? She was never secretive about it!”

”Why would I care about that?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ struggled to get up from the ground, ”She really plans ahead! Knowing Edna might face off with a Necromancer, so she specially exchanged things from the Lord of Dawn?”

Though they don’t know Edna’s true identity, the Mithril Elf leader had analyzed and concluded that Edna would inevitably get tangled up with that eternity unlucky Mystra, this was something the Undead Tribe knew.

Those Elves have no concept of secrecy.

So they already speculated that Edna was a key figure in their next regional mission, and the enemies Edna would encounter would, almost certainly, include the most rampant Necromancers on Ferun Great Land right now...

The baldies are currently the only power daring to fight against the Undead Tribe at sea.

Not long ago, a magic ship bringing Tasding back from Yinbutu was nearly successfully ambushed by the baldies!

The Undead Tribe naturally isn’t afraid of death, but certainly wouldn’t let Tasding get captured by those Liches and turned into an Undead Dragon... Luckily there was still a teleportation array in Yinbutu and the reinforcements arrived fast enough.

But since then, many families with magic ships no longer choose to travel through teleportation arrays... Isn’t it just because the baldies think Dimensional Gates can’t be used, and other powers’ magic ships don’t dare to travel across the seas ravaged by Magicplague, that they’re so arrogant!

Look who’s beating whom now!

Anyway, even if they lose the battle, they can still hide the ships then die again, but the baldies’ ships, once burned, don’t grow back.

Most of the crew are undead, so they’re not afraid of the Magicplague, but when there aren’t enough ships, it’s all over anyway.

It’s simply because they became complete enemies with the Sel people... They later learned that the highest governor of the Red Robe Nation now is a follower of Bane, a Great Liche of the Necromancy Sect.

Since they arrived in Toril, besides demons, their strongest opponents have been Bane’s followers, the Santalin Meeting!

Though that thing was completely wrecked by the Prince of Shade Soul City, the Undead Tribe knows well that Santalin Meeting was actually largely wrecked by them.

It’s not surprising that the baldies took action against them.

However, for the Undead Tribe, the scariest thing isn’t when the enemies are too strong, but when there are no enemies.

How would they live through those days!

Having confirmed their future enemies, most of the clan leaders of the Undead Tribe began to stock up on tools and potions to deal with the undead and liches... Although they have many priests, they certainly won’t let other professions stand idly by, right?

At this point, the superiority of the Church of Lord of Dawn becomes evident... No one’s itching to interact with Toril’s Sun God.

The ’Young Master’, who has the best relation with the Dawn Church, has been living quite comfortably for the past half-year.
